Jake: Jake here for American Muscle. And today I've got this ZL1 Style Front Chin Splitter Lip in Gloss Black for the 2016 to 2018 Camaro SS. If your Camaro is in need of an injection of style, then look no further than this front splitter. This is gonna be right up your alley if you wanna bring a bit of that ZL1 flavor to your Camaro SS or add a little bit of aerodynamic boost and just get something that is turnkey right out of the box. Now, Camaros look pretty good off the showroom floor but a car that mean looking deserves a little extra something to set it off. And this Chin Splitter is a perfect way to do exactly that. With a design that is lifted right from the ZL1, this is gonna look right at home on the front end of your Camaro. So you're gonna get that OEM plus type of look here. Those that know we'll see what you've done, but others will assume that it was just this sharp right off the showroom floor. So, it's safe to say here that these angles really complement the styling of the front end of the Camaro very well. And it's not just some tiny lip, it's a pretty big spoiler. Now, some of the ZL1s arrow trickery can be attributed to that front splitter. So you may get a little bit of an aerodynamic advantage with this, but don't go in expecting tons of downforce or front-end grip. Mostly this is a stylistic upgrade, though a little extra help with airflow is never a bad thing.Beyond just the stylistic upgrade, the construction of this thing is also rather interesting. So, go with me here as I get a little bit nerdy. So, unlike a lot of other similar parts, this one actually has some carbon fiber in the structure, and you're not necessarily gonna see it, but it is there. Though the outer surfaces here are finished in gloss black, the inner structure features a mix of 3K12 leaf carbon fiber and reinforced polypropylene. So, this is very strong while offering good conformity in the event of an impact. It's also very lightweight. And, again, it has the ability to deform in the event of an impact rather than something like fiberglass, which is just gonna crack or shatter. Now, that's not saying that this is entirely instructable, of course, but there are some serious positives to having a bit of give on something that sits as low on the car as this does. The other cool thing here is, again, that this is totally finished in gloss black just as you see it here. This is how it comes out of the box. So, if you're looking for something that is turnkey and is gonna fit right on your Camaro without having to go to paint or any type of preparation work, this is gonna be the ticket. Now, as far as pricing goes, this is gonna run you about $425. And that does put it toward the middle of the range for chin spoilers and front splitters. It's not quite as pricey as say a full-on carbon fiber option or a true track-style splitter but you are getting some good quality construction here that comes with that OEM plus style. And, again, it's finished just like this right out of the box. So, it's a turnkey solution, which if that's what you're looking for, this is a great choice for you.Installation is also quite simple, coming in at a one and a three on the difficulty meter. It should only take you about an hour or so to get it mounted up. All the holes come pre-drilled, so it's just a matter of lining everything up and bolting it down. You also get new hardware in the box. Not much more I can say about it here. So, with that, let's head over to the install bay now where we'll show you the process.Man: Tools required for this install include double-sided tape, scissors, a quarter-inch to 3/8" adapter, 7-millimeter socket, and a ratchet. What's up, guys? Today we're gonna be installing a front lip on our Camaro. So, let's get right into it. So, to remove our factory lip, we're gonna remove all of our 7-millimeter screws. We're gonna leave these two in place until the end just so that our lip doesn't come down and flex and potentially crack. So, our next step is gonna be to lay a strip of double-sided tape in here. Now, this lip doesn't come with double-sided tape, so you're gonna have to go to your local hardware store or auto parts store and get some. We'll lay our strip across, grab yourself some scissors to cut it, and then we can get this mocked up on the car.So, we ran out of tape in our first roll so we have a little gap. If you have one solid strip, you can peel up at this corner and the other side corner, but we're just gonna dog here in the middle here since that's what we've got.And this will just make it easier so we can get it on the car fit it where we like it and then peel it down and stick it in our final step. And now, we can install our front lip.Our last step is to remove our double-sided tape backing so we can go ahead and pull off and away from the car.So, that'll wrap up this review and install of ZL1 Style Front Chin Splitter Lip in Gloss Black for your 2016 to 2018 Camaro SS. Thank you for watching. And remember for all things Camaro, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
