Improve. If you're looking for your next upgrade, Comp Cams Stage 1 XFI VSR Camshafts are a significant improvement over your stock camshafts. It's hard to improve on an already impressive engine. But Comp Cams delivers with these camshafts, dialing up maximum HP and improved throttle response.

Maximize Top End HP. With two different designs to choose from, Comp Cams has got you covered. Compared to the Stage 1 NSR series, these Stage 1 VSR cams deliver more power in the higher rpm ranges and maximize your top-end and overall HP. The NSR series does not require new springs - to get the incredible top-end power of the VSR series requires a spring upgrade.

Compatibility. These camshafts are designed for the 2005-2010 4.6 and 5.4 Modular three valve V8 Mustangs.

    Tech Notes:

Technical Note. The installation of these Comp Cams will require a phaser limiter kit and custom ECU programming.

Will there be a good amount of chop when it’s installed or will it be slightly noticeable?

    • The Comp Cams Stage I XFI VSR Camshafts are not a choppy or loud camshaft. This will produce a slightly louder lope but nothing that is drastically noticeable.

Well these work with my on 3 Turbo

    • The Comp Cams Stage I XFI VSR Camshafts can be used with a turbo depending on how much boost you are looking to make. If you want to up the boost, we would suggest going with a larger camshaft.

Where would I go to get these Cams tuned? Is there a product on the site that can tune them? Also, how would these pair with the Stage 1 E-Force Supercharger?

    • We currently do not offer tunes for these Comp Cams Stage I XFI VSR Camshafts with a blower, however, VMP Performance can tune most supercharger applications with camshafts. If you plan to tune these cams without a supercharger, we do offer Bama Tunes, item 38050 that can support these camshafts. Pairing with a supercharger can definitely vary especially with the tune you decide to get. There is a chance the cams may quiet down once a supercharger is installed since force induction creates the whining sound from the belts. https://www.americanmuscle.com/sct-custom-tune.html

Is it necessary to use the CAM Phaser Limiter? I'd rather retain all of the VVT function of my engine, as well as save the $200 dollars. But if that isn't possible, i'd rather just stick to my stock camshafts.

    • The phaser limiter is a required item to go along with any camshaft made from Comp Cams to help eliminate the piston to valve clearance issues.

Will these cams be good to use with the Roush R2300 550 hp supercharger - Phase 2 kit. Also does bama have a tune for this camshaft?

    • These will be a good camshaft to use with the R2300 Roush Mustang. However, Bama does not have a tune for this camshaft.

      Comp Cams

I love the cams. I can definitely feel a difference in horsepower around 4000 RPM's. I got the cams installed and was also looking for a little lope, but the cams made no difference in sound. That being said, I went and got the cats removed and got the tune as well. Now the car accelerates a lot quicker at high RPM's and sounds mean.
