      Street and Strip Performance. Have you installed an aftermarket intake manifold, heads, and exhaust headers on your 1986-1995 5.0L Mustang in the search for more power? If so, add the cherry to the top of the cake with a Comp Cams Stage 5 Xtreme Energy XE282HR Camshaft. This Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Cam is an excellent choice for both street and strip performance applications. With increased responsiveness and a step up in duration, more horsepower and torque can be felt from 2600-6500 RPMs. As an added bonus, this Xtreme Energy Cam will give your 5.0 a noticeable change in idle that is louder than stock, but that's not overbearing or obnoxious.

      Calibration Required. Installation of this Comp Cam Camshaft will require custom tuning to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for operation. By reprogramming your Mustangs ECU, you will be able to realize the full power potential that this Camshaft has to offer.

      Not CARB Certified. This Camshaft is not CARB certified at this time, therefore it is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only.

      Limited Warranty. Competition Cams, Inc. warrants that all of its products are free from defects in material and workmanship, and against excessive wear for a period of 12 months from date of purchase. This limited warranty shall cover only the original purchaser. This warranty is valid on camshafts only where new lifters and proper valve springs are used. Some exclusions may apply, please see manufacturer's warranty for details.

      Application. This Comp Cams XE282HR Camshaft is designed for use on 1986-1995 Mass Air equipped 5.0L V8 Mustangs with modifications such as aftermarket heads, intake manifold, exhaust headers and steeper 3.73 rear gears.

      Technical Note. This camshaft requires a minimum of a 3.73 rear-end gears and a custom tune. Automatic transmissions will require at least a 2500 RPM stall converter.

        Awesome cam

        Installed the cam in a 347 stroker and I'm glad I did. It pulls hard with a nice aggressive idle I could feel a big power difference than the other cams I have used.. great product and very quick shipping.. would definitely recommend to others.

        I'm glad I got this cam and the Bama tune. It's just the right part I needed to put my 1994 gt and the other mods on the car to realy make it run and sound truly great. Plus the sales staff were great at helping me out and got me the best bang for my buck.

      With this cam, will the valves clear stock pistons?

      • These will not clear the stock pistons no.

      what would I have to do to keep my computer and efi. will this have enough vacuum for my 95 cobra? 347edelbrock top end

      • The Comp Cams Stage 5 Xtreme Energy XE282HR Camshaft will work fine with the stock PCM and fuel injection. Though, it would be a good idea to get a tune for the car to ensure that everything is running properly.

      Will I need upgraded valve springs for this cam with stock 1.6 rockers? And will I need upgraded springs with 1.7 rockers?

      • Due to the aggressive nature of the Comp Cams Stage 5 Xtreme Energy XE282HR Camshaft and the relatively weak factory valve springs, stronger upgraded valve springs will be required with this cam, regardless of rocker selection.

      Will this cam work for a NA/nitrous setup or is it recommended for supercharger or other power adder setup?
