    I’m Dave from AmericanMuscle.com and today I have a clutch made for us by a well-known stock and performance clutch manufacturer, Exedy. And this one is the Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch fitting the 96-04 GTs. The Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch is sold exclusively at AmericanMuscle.com and is designed to hold more horse power and torque then your slippery factory clutch; in fact it’s a great upgrade from your factory clutch. The quality of this product comes from the fact that unlike other aftermarket clutch manufacturers Exedy makes there’s from scratch; this is not a modified OE part, this is made from high strength ductal steel and is guaranteed to be durable and reliable. And again, this is not an OE pressure plate that has been modified and painted. Combine this with the special friction special friction material on the clutch disc you are going to get a strong and reliable clutch that feels like stock but out performs it. The center of this clutch features a high torque spring that’s going to help absorb and deflect high levels of torque under hard driving; it’s going to help alleviate some of the stress on the driveline, the clutch, and the driver. Now that high torque spring is also going to work great under high RPM clutch engagement to absorb some of that torque and help keep the clutch intact and give you consistent performance from gear to gear. This clutch is designed specifically to handle the strength and bite required for a mustang and Exedy has built and tested this clutch to make sure it acts like a stock, but with loads more power and amazing performance. That’s part of what makes this clutch perfect for the daily driver, or the weekend cruiser or even the weekend racer. The Mach 350 Stage 1 by Exedy won’t blow apart on you and it’s designed to hold the horsepower and torque of the Mustang. Also this part is SFI certified so you can have more confidence it is construction and performance, it’s going to hold up no matter what you use it for or how hard you drive it. Installing this part is a little more involved then your typical bolt on, but it can be done at home, just know that before you get started you do need to remove the exhaust and drop the transmission before you get to your clutch and flywheel bolts. It is possible at home but it’s going to take you about 4 hours to get completed, so if you are not up for the challenge I do recommend you bring it down to your local shop.     I'm interested in the exedy mach 350 clutch and the exedy aluminum flywheel, I have an x in my vin, exactly what bolt pattern flywheel and spline pattern do I have stock? "because I don't want to order the wrong parts."

    • If the 8th character in your VIN is an "X" you would have a Windsorblock which would be an 8 bolt crank. But to determine the spline count for your Mustang, we would need additional information from you.     • A Mustang Mach1 would use a cable driven clutch, so no fluids are used in the system.

    I purchased this clutch back in November 2014 was wondering if there was any warranty on it. recently I have been experiencing a chirping noise and a mechanic said that the throwout bearing is rubbing on the pressure plate and I was hoping I could get some help on a replacement kit thanks Bill 1 answer

      Awesome clutch kit

      Perfect fit in my 04 GT. So much better than the stock clutch. Very smooth transition between gears. I would highly recommend this clutch.

      Decent clutch, better than expected

      I installed this clutch in my 2004 Mach 1 due to having previously installed a ram HD clutch but I can't aminated the disk surface and it burnt the clutch up a few weeks after installation so I was in a bind and needed a clutch to install and so I decided on ordering the exedy 350 and once installed I was surprisingly impressed with how well it held and how snappy the clutch actually was, I was expecting only a mediocre level above stock but so far, about seven or eight hundred miles into the clutch I really can't complain. The quality of the parts is top-notch and I can't complain or knock them in that department, as I said I just expected a clutch that wouldn't be as strong as it is. Shipping was fast as always and overall I am satisfied, the only reason for four stars is due to budget restraints and time restraints that's not being able to order another ram clutch which before this exedy clutch and the ram HD I had the ram HDX with Helix hub, and if you're reading this I suggest you order that clutch for your Mach 1 you will not be disappointed

      Finally a great replacement!

      I really appreciate this clutch! It has a factory feel with great grip. To give a little history... I am a DIY'er with a pit in my garage. I have a 1999 Mustang Cobra that I blew the clutch in 4 years ago (2014). At that time the car had 66,000 mi on it. I put in a SPEC stage 1 clutch which chattered from day 1. Yes, I had the flywheel machined. My wife didn't like driving the car because of how stiff the clutch became, also, traffic was a PIA for me. Well, I used the bearing kit that came with it. To my disappointment, the throw out bearing failed with less than 20,000 miles on it. Well, here I was 11/2018 needing to do the job over. I decided to go with the Exedy mach 350 stage 1 based on the reviews. I am truly impressed with how it performs. Not 1 but of chatter. Sorry Exedy, I didn't use your bearings that came with the the kit, so I can't speak to them. I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I went with the ford racing bearings. (throwout and pilot) I have 350 miles on it, I am trying to get it broken in before the snow hits, as I am in New England. My Wife hasn't driven it yet, but I am sure she will love it. Well, I appreciate American Muscle for the speedy shipping and correct parts and two thumbs up to Exedy for a producing a great product!!!

      Exedy stage 1 clutch

      I purchased a 01 Bullitt mustang and it needed a transmission replaced so while swapping transmission out since it’s all right there I decided to go with new clutch and I’ve heard good things about this brand. So once everything was swapped and new clutch and transmission were in it was time for test run. The clutch pedal feels great it’s not real stiff so daily driving is not an issue and this clutch really hooks up and feels great. I’m in process of having a huge power increase done with a procharger stage 2 kit put on my car and the specs on clutch indicate I should be fine. I will definitely touch base after the install and dyno with updates on clutch and it’s performance under pressure.

      Warning do not buy

      Throw out bearing chirp right after install. typed out very detailed review but it was rejected so here is a shorter one. Save yourself the money and time and go somewhere else. Please listen to my bad experience and buy elsewhere.

      Exedy Stage 1 Clutch

      The installation of the Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch was pretty straight forward. The pedal feel was a bit softer however, this clutch puts down power well. My 04 Mustang GT feels like a new car now. Overall, I would recommend this quality clutch by Exedy to anyone who wants an improvement to their stock setup.

      Exedy clutch

      Swapped out stock clutch for this stage one set up. Added the light weight fly wheel also. Super happy with the way it performs! Car pulls better on acceleration and shifts smooth. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade.

      Great product

      Replaced my stock clutch with the Stage 1 Cutch kit from Exedy. Was nice and responsive but not super heavy like stock. I could really feel the difference in the clutch pedal and how the car drove in general. Would recommend for anyone that needs a clutch replacement for any stock or lightly modded mustang.

      Exedy clutch kit

      The pressure plate and clutch we're well made. No alligment pins because we'll, there in your flywheel so reuse them. I'm 400 plus miles into the install and it shifts like butter. Works as intended.

      Exedy Mach 350

      Just put this clutch kit in my 99 GT, which is mostly stock. Within the first hundred miles of breaking it in it felt totally different from when I first set off, and it is really great. Nice and light clutch pedal effort and it has great bite without losing good modulation. You can still do a nice easy street start with no drama whatsoever, or burn the tires at the light no problem, and everything in between. Great clutch for mostly stock engines and I imagine has plenty of room to grow if you have more power. AM is asking me how long it took me to install and doesn't offer an option longer than a "weekend". You could argue that my actual working time could be compressed into a weekend but I had issues getting my flywheel resurfaced that ate up a few weeks and I still beat my head against the wall with the starter and the top two bellhousing bolts. But hey, that's the 4.6 way.
