Is an X-Pipe necessary? I want to improve the sound of my GT. In a perfect world I would get both a Xpipe and new mufflers but I cant afford both of them at the same time. I know an Xpipe would really help the sound and airflow but do I need to buy the Xpipe first? Could I not just get these mufflers welded in at the local shop with my stock catted h pipe? And lastly would the interior drone be any worse if I didn't have the Xpipe. I want better sound on the exterior and NO DRONE. Thanks

Parker

  • I would recommend having the stock mufflers cut out , and weld the new 44 mufflers in , if your on a budget .. Once u have thats done see how u like the sound from there , u will get a deeper tone from the 44 mufflers very low drone .. If u want more of an aggressive deep tone I recommend an H pipe, if u want a higher pitch racey sound then the X pipe will do the job :-)

Will these mufflers pass a smog in california?

RonanK

  • While mufflers do not generally affect smog inspection, the Flowmaster Super Flow 44 Series Muffler does not have a CARB number and may not pass an emissions check in California.

I measured the Length of the stick mufflers and the supper 44’s, will I have to buy extra piping? The 44s are a little shorter than the stock mufflers, from my measurements at least.

RandyG

Would this fit on 2016 V6 mustang? If not what other product would be similar that could be recommended?

CarlosG

  • The Flowmaster Super Flow 44 Series Muffler will not fit on a 2016 V6 Mustang. Unfortunately, we do not carry individual mufflers for the 15-17 Mustangs.

So I purchased these mufflers already and have the Pypes off-road H-pipe installed already but not the mufflers yet. Will these mufflers make my stang louder? The o/r h pipe along with the stock mufflers a pretty loud but you gotta get on the throttle to wake it up. Below 2k rpm it isn't loud much. Will these make it louder?

RandyG

  • Replacing your stock mufflers with the Flowmaster Super Flow 44 Series mufflers will make your exhaust louder!

    Great!

I bought these mufflers for my '04 Gt. I was almost dissepointed right after the install because they just didn't sound to good.. but I knew they needed to be broken in. over the course of about 3 weeks(420 miles), they finally broke in. Now they sound absolutely AMAZING! Thanks AM!

Awesome muffler that adds great sound & power. If your 'stang is bone-stock like mine was then this is the perfect item to start with to give it the muscle it deserves.

    Amazing sound

I put these along with a jegs off road h pipe and a CAI on my 97GT and it sounds so awesome. Loud and quality. It may be a little biased, but I think I have the meanest sounding mustang around. Everytime I start it up I just smile.

Recommended for any Mustang GT or V6

Took these mufflers to my local exhaust shop and had them put these on with an h-pipe. I'm not going to say that it made my v6 sound like a Gt but it's pretty dang close. I'm very impressed with the sound and quality of the product. If you want the muscle sound your mustang deserves definitely pick the mufflers up.

'04 Mustang with Set of 44's

I had a chance to get a pair of these installed on my Mustang and they sound great. I especially love the sound at around 2K RPM's just like Noel said. Sounds very aggressive and the price was right with these mufflers. I also have a JLT Cold Air Intake which adds a little more cackle to the exhaust when you let off which makes it that much more enjoyable to drive.

    signature FM rumble

these mufflers are really great! I got them welded on by a local muffler shop, because I don't have a welder. The difference is instantly noticeable. Like others have said, around 2K RPM's is where you hear the best aggressive sound. At idle a deep rumble. I highly recommend these 44's to anyone wanting to improve the sound of their GT.

    I love these mufflers

I ordered two of these mufflers from AM about three weeks ago. At first the sound was ok, then I went on a 200 mile drive on spring break. When I got home from the trip, the sound had conpletely changed. It went from "ok" to amazing. The sound literally gets better every day and everyone loves how it bubbles when you accelerate and let off the gas. I am very happy I bought these!!! Best muffler for weld-in's period.

    Great Sound on V6

What a great buy. An affordable way to make your 'stang sound more aggressive. Hear it on acceleration, present during driving, and can really hear it when you rev the engine. I took my car to a local shop so they could remove the old muffler and weld/clamp on the new one. Cost me about $97 but a lot cheaper than buying the tools/knowledge needed.

    muscle car sound

I have an 03 GT, and the tubing size on the stock exhaust system is 2.25 inches. the inlet and outlet on these mufflers are 2.5 inches. the shop I brought the car to for installation, had to make some adaptors to fit the smaller tubing size. cost was higher than it originaly was and it took more time. but overall they fit on great with the adaptors and these mufflers sound great on a GT with the stock H pipe and stock headers. nice low rumble at idle, and really sounds good around 2k RPM and while cruising in 4th gear.

    Super 44 Catback

I had a custom 2 1/2" catback with 3 1/2" tips using Super 44s. It is on an 02 GT. It sounds and performs amazingly. No drone whatsoever with this setup. I can even have a normal conversation at 80mph with a convertible.

First of all let me tell you i have a V6, this is my first add on, and i was a little skeptical about the sound, But let me tell you I am in love with my car all over again!!! I installed it THIS MORNING and have already got a countless number of compliments, and I even had a few people want to race! It is not obnoxious and actually sounds like a real muscle car!

    Single exhaust 02 v6

I would say I get a lot of looks and thumbs up. Even if it has a single exhaust it still sounds great. When the car is cold it's at it's loudest. I would buy one again. I don't think the neighbors like it in the morning. HAHAHAHA

Flowmaster did a great job with the 44 series. The deep tone is exactly what a Mustang should sound like. Not excessively loud, but certainly noticeable. An absolutely awesome buy.

    Perfect Sound!

If you don't like that high pitch, raspy noise you get from some mufflers and resonators, these mufflers are perfect! they are not extremely loud but can easily be heard sitting idle in the driveway while your in your house. It's loud when you want it to be, but quiets down for cruising speeds. Very happy wit hthis add on!

    Nice

I put these on my 94 gt along with a off raod mac prochamber and the roar just sounds mean! You can deffinantly here it coming. Really Quiet on the inside at any speed if you have the windows rolled up. Roll em down and you can hear them roar. My prochamber has alot to do with it but they sound far better than the originals. My 03 gt has a prochamber as well but with original 40s and that one just sounds loud and mean as heck all the time. So if you dont want interior noise and a mean outside roar get these! If you want to hear it inside and out, get the original 40s.
