      Description

      Improve ET's and low end torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your GT500. Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use.

      Superior Quality. Manufactured in the USA, these Ford Racing Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and are completed in a black oxide finish to resist corrosion.

      Application. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit 2007-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

      Attention 2010 and newer Mustang Owners. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. Because of this you will require a new 8.8" rear gear pinion bearing (Ford part# 9L3Z-4630-A) for proper installation, please see drop down option above.

      Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

        5 2009 GT500 - Crete

        Great mod for more fun

        My shop/tuner recommended me doing the 3.73 gears a while back to make the car more fun to drive. I finally did it and he was right on the money. I'm still on the stock blower with bolt on's and sitting just under 600rwhp. The car though seemed to take forever to get out of the hole and didn't really spin up the stock blower to it's max output for an eternity...It's much better now and gets the car into it's sweet spot(powerband if you will)in half the time.

        Not so much

        Didn't make a noticable difference over my stock 3:55 on my GT500 so I guess 3:90s it is.

        Great idea to change gears!

        The difference in changing the rear gears was a great idea. It definitely picked up the bottom end take off. Quicker gear changes and pulls hard.

        5 2013 GT500 - joeski Installation Time: Afternoon

        3.73 gear install

        At one of my customers shop, one of his techs and I put gears in and installed computer upgrade in 3 hrs. I found driving the car difficult because of the tall 1st gear, now the car is much more fun to drive. You will need pinion bearing 6L2Z4625AB from Ford for a 13 gt500. I own a parts store and I could not find the bearing other than ford.

        Great bang for the buck!

        Changing from the 3.31 to 3.73 gearing in the '13/'14 GT500 is a great mod that will increase the fun factor in all already amazing car. Makes the car more driveable around town and easier off the line. Also increases the feeling of speed as these gears help to really throw you back into the seat. Great mod!

        5 2009 GT500 - Gambit Installation Time: Full Day

        Dropping the Hammer!

        I have a 2009 Shelby Gt500 which came with 3:31 gears in stock form, and I wanted to get a little more power off the line so I purchased these gears (had them on a past 89 mustang and loved them). Pros is the function, Ohhhhhh boy will you love these, 3:73 gears will give you better off the line head in the seat performance, with-out destroying gas mileage. Yes gas mileage will suffer a little bit but worth it when you see an imprint of your body in the seats, when you get out of the car. As expected with ford racing products, fit and finish with this set is, A one! I was concerned about gear noise (which you hear about with other gear sets) but there was really none to be had, the only noise, which is very slight (most of the time it's not even heard) is when decelerating, with no load on engine. Just remember to add modifier (per ford specs) to gear oil, get the good stuff. I also recommend a better rear end cover when you install, get a solid aluminum one with drain plugs, this will save you both money/ time when you have to change the oil in the future. They can be had for realitivley cheap and will also add support to your rear end, which is very important under hard acceleration. Once again the fit is great and when you drop the hammer, you'll be smiling like a little kid again.

        5 2008 GT500 - crack Installation Time: Afternoon

        Hold on

        Love these gears, much better then the stock 3.31. Going to have to get a short throw shifter next due to running thought the gears a lot faster. Only downfall would be traction but who really has traction in these cars anyway huh. HIGHLY recommend switching to the 3.73 and really haven't seen a change in MPG either.
