Hey guys. Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with a brief look into the Ford Racing by Borla Catback Exhaust system, available for your 2015 Mustang GT Fastback in your choice of either a chrome or black tip. The collaboration of Ford Racing and Borla has resulted in some great-sounding, high-quality systems for the last few years. And they continue to be a very popular choice with the S550 crowd. Now the sport system I have with me in this video here today is going to be the more aggressive of the two offerings from Ford Racing by Borla, the other being the Touring series. So let's talk about how this system gets its bark.Well, starting with the 2.5 inch mandrel bent tubing, all of it's stainless steel here in the incorporated x-pipe. Well, you're going to be picking up more of that raspy growl as opposed to that low, thumping grunt of an h-pipe as you guys all just heard with the sound clips. Now because you are replacing the factory suitcase resonator with this x-pipe, and because we are working with a full stainless build here, you can expect to ditch roughly 30 pounds off of your S550 when making the switch to the Ford Racing by Borla Catback. In addition to that x-pipe, a main contributor of the sound here is going to be from these Ford Racing by Borla sports series mufflers, which are a straight through muffler by design. I know it doesn't look that way. These things do look chambered and therefore they look like they might be a little quiet, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The goal with this system here was to provide a nice aggressive tone but with plenty of street manners, something that will turn heads when you're on it but be whisper quite in the cabin while cruising, and they certainly nailed it.Rounding out these sports series mufflers here, we have the 4 inch slash cut tips, again available in your choice of either black or polished, embossed with that Ford Racing logo. Getting this Catback bolted up to your new GT will definitely be an easier task compared to older generations, thanks largely in part to that new independent rear suspension. Now because of this, dropping the factory system and getting this new thing bolted up should only take you a couple of hours from start to finish using basic hand tools and maybe an extra set of hands just to make life a little easier on yourself. As always, if you have any questions, guys, reach out to a Mustang expert here at AM anytime. They're always standing by ready to give you a hand. So if you guys are in the market for one of the premium exhaust selections available for your S550 GT, be sure to check out the collaboration between Ford Racing and Borla with their Sport Catback available at AmericanMuscle.com.

3 Cracked X Pipes
Let me just say I do love this system, sound level is great, tone is deep with a slight amount of rasp, fitment is perfect and the black chrome tips look really nice. BUT my x pipe keeps cracking. This has happened THREE times. The welds are very poor and it keeps failing in the same spot. Borla customer service has been great to deal with though. I just send pictures and within 3 days I have a new x pipe on my door step. Thankfully its not hard to swap them out, needless to say I am a expect at swapping out cat back systems for the S550 now lol. Not saying you shouldn't buy this system but if you start to hear some rattling underneath the car I would check the welds on the x pipe first.Helpful (0)

Right noise level, nice tone
Being that I didn't want to have an extremely loud exhaust, but still make me further enjoy the drive, this was great. Easy to install on a lift. Can be done on the ground on jacks, but of course becomes a challenge. Also, expect to do some twisting when connecting the xpipe. It will seem like it wont fit, but it just needs some movement. Black tips also look great. Im very happy with how they turned out. I think the chrome version would have been too much with the blue.Helpful (0)

This has great sound! Fairly quiet when not getting on it but it roars to life when you touch the gas! Nice low tone.Helpful (0)

Borla sport cat back black tips
Very impressed with the sound this exhaust gives out. Loud cold starts but quiets down when the car warms up. Not obnoxiously loud when driving normal but push the throttle down and it defenately turns heads! Car now sounds like it should.Helpful (0)

This exhaust set up definetely woke up the car. Screams under heavy acceleration and rumbles at low speeds. Absolutely love it.Helpful (4)

Exhaust notes greatly impoved
I was very pleased with the sound of this exhaust setup. It has a nice rumble at lower rpm without excessive drone in the cabin and when you accelerate above 3-4,000 rpm or so the whole neighborhood knows where you are.Helpful (9)

Ford Performance by Borla Sport Catbacks
I'm disappointed in these. I had Roush axle backs on my previous 2014 Mustang GT that sounded great. Very deep throaty sound. I was hoping to get a similar sound with these on my 2016 Mustang GT/CS. Unfortunately, they are more raspy than I like. I'm hoping over time they will get a deeper tone. I'm not too excited about having to buy a different setup but it may come to that.Helpful (12)

Sounds amazing. It’s a little louder than I expected, but no regrets. Doesn’t drone going down the highway, comes alive when you get on the throttle! It only took about an hour to get on, but took another to get both tips to sit even in the openings.Helpful (7)
Which is louder? This exhaust or the Corsa Xtremes? Also, which is louder in the low RPMs?
The Ford Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust features a loud throaty exhaust tone. The Corsa Xtreme Cat-Back Exhaust - Black Tips, item # 393797, (https://www.americanmuscle.com/corsa-xtreme-3in-catback-fb-blk-2015gt.html) features a deep aggressive sound. The Xtreme's will be slightly louder over the Ford exhaust kit during low RPMs.
I have this exhaust cat back system. Where can I buy this exact x pipe that comes with this cat back? That’s the only part I need, the x pipe so it fits perfect with the mid pip and mufflers.
This will be the x-pipe that is included with the kit: https://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-x-pipe-2015gt.html
Hey guys I’m about to pull the trigger on this exhaust setup. It’s a very good sounding setup from the reviews and from what I can tell in the video. Is there anything else I need, or does it come with everything needed for install?
I have this exhaust and wont to know wich stainless power long tube headers to buy! Do i need the aftermarket setup
Yes, you would want the aftermarket setup, not the setup designed for a stock application.
Hey I have this set up is the 2.5 inch tubing the outlet diameter or inlet diameter size?
The 2.5-inch tubing is used throughout the whole system and the exhaust times are 4 inched with a step down to fit the 2.5-inch tubing.
The packaged weight is 54.5 lbs.
If you are experiencing clearance issues, we would recommend loosening all of the clamps, and with a second set of hands, re-position the exhaust and hold it in place while someone tightens the clamps. Typically this will resolve the clearance issues.
The Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust (Item 387145) is generally considered the loudest cat-back we offer for the 2015-2017 GT models.
The Ford Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust will connect to all the long tube headers we offer, when used with the mid pipe adapters that match the headers.
TheFord Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaustis 49 state drive-by noise legal, not intended for use in the state of California.
The Ford Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust and Ford Performance by Borla Touring Cat-Back Exhaust will be virtually identical visually.
The Ford Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust will be an aggressive exhaust, though not exceedingly loud. Due to the fact that this includes a resonator delete, this will be louder than the average axle back exhaust.
This exhaust will be able to fit with the Convertible GT model S550 Mustangs from 2015-2017.
