Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with a quick review of the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for all 2015 and up Mustang GTs. The factory suitcase-style resonator on the '15 was one of those features that not a lot of Mustang fans welcomed when it came to the new GT since it basically just robs your new GT of both power and sound in the eyes of performance enthusiasts. The resonator delete is firstly going to free up some power and, of course, volume since it will be replacing that restrictive factory resonator with an X-Pipe. Like usual, the X-Pipe is going to give your car a raspier tone, but you'll still maintain the use of stock cats, which will save you money and also keep you legal at the same time. This resonator delete is going to be for those S550s that are daily driven, but it will also work for those hitting the track for some fun that's usually frowned upon on the streets. On a scale of one to five, I think this resonator delete will be a two or three in regards to an overall change in sound. But, ultimately, the rest of your car's exhaust will be the determining factor here. When we look at the price for this resonator delete, you'll find that the Ford Racing offering is in the middle of the pack, right in line with other brands, such as Flowmaster for the most part, while the Heartthrob will fall on the lower side of the spectrum and the Corsa will round out the top. As for the install, well it really depends on your setup. If you've planned on installing this with your factory axle-back, and perhaps maybe a different aftermarket axle-back, there will be some cutting involved. But it's not bad overall, and it'll be about a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter but just because of the cutting involved. The job should take you about a few hours from start to finish. So if you're looking to move away from that heavy factory resonator and add some growl and volume to your exhaust in the process, then be sure to check out the Ford Racing Resonator Delete X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Ford actually did a nice job on the stock Catalytic Converters, but the factory Resonator Mid-pipe could use some improvement. That's where the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe comes into play. Designed to balance out the exhaust gas pressure in your system, this X-Pipe will help improve exhaust flow for more power and an aggressive sound.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Ford Racing X-Pipe for the 2015-2019 GT Mustangs not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Ford Racing X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you legal at the same time.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding new parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Constructed from 2.75" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent T-409 Stainless Steel tubing for durability, this Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

Application. This Ford Racing X-Pipe is a specifically designed for use on the 2015-2019 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

Does this x pipe affect the active exhaust system?

        • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe will not affect your vehicles factory equipped Active Exhaust.

You previously answered a question about fitment for a GT350. Someone installed this on their GT350 and sent me this link. Why do you suggest it doesn't fit?

        • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe can be used on the GT350, but will not be a direct fit. Additionally most owners will not install a delete kit like this, as the existing exhaust already has an H-Pipe, so having the OE exhaust cut and two sections of straight exhaust tube installed to replace the resonators is much more economical.

        Would this fit a 2017 GT350 ? Thanks.

About how much HP gain can I expect on a 2018 Mustang GT? Does removing the resonator produce a "drone" type of noise inside the car while driving?

        • This ford performance part would get you about 5 HP more on your 2018 GT Mustang and while this part does delete the resonator, it will add drone but it would be very little while driving.

What is the exact gain of power that you mentioned? Based on a stock 2017 gt

        • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe will give a slight performance gain, but it all depends on what tune the car has and how it is driven.

            Wake the neighbors!

Huge difference in sound, especially with the Roush axle-back exhaust. I took to local exhaust/muffler shop and had them install and weld both the x pipe and axle back instead of using the supplied clamps, super tight and solid for just under $200 for install. Great Muscle Car sound!!

            Great sound

It sounds great but directions are vague on where to cut 4" as I went off picture wmbut was to long. Plus the rear part just butts up against existing pipe not inside so clamp has more opportunity to leak. Most likely I'll take mine to get welded.

Great product makes the stang sound a lot louder, and there is no drone on the highway. Easy install to if you are comfortable with cutting your exhaust.

Great quality from ford and slightly larger diameter than Roush and slightly smaller than Corsa. Over all great sound in Track mode with factory active exhaust.

            Almost perfect

Overall I am pleased with this product. However, on the exit end of the x-Pipe, where it connects to the right hand side exhaust, the angle at which the x-Pipe is shaped, does not match up with the angle of the existing pipe. This puts the clamp in an angle. To my surprise, the clamp sealed when torqued and did not leak. All in all, it’s been on the car now for over 2 months and has done well with no issues. It is definitely and improvement in sound over the stock redonator. I recommend this product to someone looking for a little bit more growl out of their Coyote.

            Ford performance x pipe

Only complaint is that the outlet portion of the x pipe is the same diameter tubing as the stock exhaust. This forces one to try using the provided band clamps and some precision cutting or welding the back portion of the exhaust on. Otherwise provides much greater aural experience with the added benefit of dropping a few lbs.

Sounds amazing with the active exhaust modes. In Track mode it sounds really nice and loud and when you go into Quite mode for highway driving you can't notice a difference from stock. Excellent upgrade to the stock active exhaust.

I installed this ford performance x pipe on 2015 gt that has an airaid cai and Borla Atak axleback exhaust. I was happy with the sound i had, but with this x pipe, it is ridiculous. Sounds amazing everytime you touch the gas. Not overwhelming if you are just driving, but if you wanna be heard, you will be. I cant stop smiling and laughing to myself every time i hammer on it. I definitely would recommend to anyone who likes loud.

            Amazing

I didn’t really expect the car to sound this good. Guy at the muffler shop told it would not chance the sound and would need an entire exhaust set. Turned out he was wrong. Car sounds 10 times better.

            WOW

Eliminating the resonator with this ultra quality X pipe produces amazing results. Our stock GT now sounds like the muscle car it is. I love the sound now. Side benefit besides a better breathing motor is you loose some weight. I had a local muffler shop do the install.

            FRPP X-pipe

Had just the Rousch axle back to start with. Sounded really good by themselves but when the x-pipe was added it really brought it all together. Be warned it's loud even on the inside. Around 2000 RPM'S there is a slight drone but you get used to it quickly. Fitment was a little of at the front, had to be slid back just a little. Had the rear welded, guy at shop didn't like the clamps. Well worth the money. Smile every time you accelerate.

            Worth it

I like the rasp and the way that the engine revs easier with the x- pipe. Drone is the problem that I have with the Kooks axle backs and I am considering another muffler to try and tone it down a bit.
