Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with a quick review of the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for all 2015 and up Mustang GTs. The factory suitcase-style resonator on the '15 was one of those features that not a lot of Mustang fans welcomed when it came to the new GT since it basically just robs your new GT of both power and sound in the eyes of performance enthusiasts. The resonator delete is firstly going to free up some power and, of course, volume since it will be replacing that restrictive factory resonator with an X-Pipe. Like usual, the X-Pipe is going to give your car a raspier tone, but you'll still maintain the use of stock cats, which will save you money and also keep you legal at the same time. This resonator delete is going to be for those S550s that are daily driven, but it will also work for those hitting the track for some fun that's usually frowned upon on the streets. On a scale of one to five, I think this resonator delete will be a two or three in regards to an overall change in sound. But, ultimately, the rest of your car's exhaust will be the determining factor here. When we look at the price for this resonator delete, you'll find that the Ford Racing offering is in the middle of the pack, right in line with other brands, such as Flowmaster for the most part, while the Heartthrob will fall on the lower side of the spectrum and the Corsa will round out the top. As for the install, well it really depends on your setup. If you've planned on installing this with your factory axle-back, and perhaps maybe a different aftermarket axle-back, there will be some cutting involved. But it's not bad overall, and it'll be about a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter but just because of the cutting involved. The job should take you about a few hours from start to finish. So if you're looking to move away from that heavy factory resonator and add some growl and volume to your exhaust in the process, then be sure to check out the Ford Racing Resonator Delete X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Ford actually did a nice job on the stock Catalytic Converters, but the factory Resonator Mid-pipe could use some improvement. That's where the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe comes into play. Designed to balance out the exhaust gas pressure in your system, this X-Pipe will help improve exhaust flow for more power and an aggressive sound.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Ford Racing X-Pipe for the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Ford Racing X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you legal at the same time.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding new parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Constructed from 2.75" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent T-409 Stainless Steel tubing for durability, this Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

Application. This Ford Racing X-Pipe is a specifically designed for use on the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

You previously answered a question about fitment for a GT350. Someone installed this on their GT350 and sent me this link. Why do you suggest it doesn't fit?

    MichaelO

    • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe can be used on the GT350, but will not be a direct fit. Additionally most owners will not install a delete kit like this, as the existing exhaust already has an H-Pipe, so having the OE exhaust cut and two sections of straight exhaust tube installed to replace the resonators is much more economical.

    Would this fit a 2017 GT350 ? Thanks.

    MikeT

    • This Ford Performance cut and clamp resonator delete X-pipe will not be able to fit on the 2017 Mustang GT350.

Which long tube headers can I pair up with this x-pipe?

    David

    • Since the Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe is going to replace the resonator delete pipe, it will work with most long tube headers as long as the connections are the same.

What is the exact gain of power that you mentioned? Based on a stock 2017 gt

    Armandito

    • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe will give a slight performance gain, but it all depends on what tune the car has and how it is driven.

Hi i just put the bassani mid muffler exhaust on my car. I love the sound but it isn't as loud as if like it to be and I was wandering if I could replace the X-pipe that came with the bassani exhaust with the Ford Performance X-pipe? Or would any X-pipe work?

    RyanS

    • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe would replace the OEM resonator, and is not designed to replace the muffler on the Bassani Mid Muffler Catback exhaust system. Removal of the muffler from the Bassani system would result in no mufflers on the vehicle, with only the cats to quiet the exhaust over open headers.

Will this bolt up to my mbrp street catback and stainless works longtubes int my 15 GT.

    DerekF

    • This resonator delete X-Pipe is 2.75" whereas the MBRP Street cat-back is 3" so you will need to have a step up pipe welding both of these items together for proper function.

I paired this up with my Roush axle-backs and together it creates an amazing exhaust note! It is 100 worth every penny and you can definitely feel a slight power increase.

      BEWARE!!

A little over a month ago I installed the roush axle backs on my 2017 race red mustang gt. The car was loud and had a great tone to it, but I wanted it even more loud. I went with the FRPP x pipe and had it installed yesterday. The ford racing x pipe made the car 3 to 4 times louder than just the roush axle backs alone. Anything above 2k RPM is screaming loud, and this is coming from a guy who has owned loud cars before, this is VERY loud. You will love it if you want to be heard a mile away.

      Great Sound

Makes the Mustang sound the way it should. This paired with the Borla Sport Axle back will give you the perfect muscle car sound and drive. Cold starts are loud, once it idles down it's fine.

      Good initial exhaust mod.

Put this on with the stock mufflers just over a year ago, and it definitely increases the volume, but is a bit raspy as the revs climb. A bit disappointed in the fact that the pass. side pipe doesn't have a slight bend like some of the other brands. Didn't mate up as nice as it should when you clamp it to the tailpipe. It was a low cost option to try something for a while, but I am considering a full cat back system now to get something less raspy.

      Great Product.

My favorite purchase so far. Took about an hour to install and, paired with the Roush Axle Backs, sounds amazing. A bit louder than I wanted but I have yet to receive any complaints.

      Great sound great price

Im running this xpipe with the Roush axleback and it sounds amazing. It has a nice raspy tone aith a lot of crackles and pops as should be expected with an xpipe. The xpipe is noticeable lighter than the stock resonator. My only complaint is the rear of the xpipe is the same diameter as the midpipe and the clamps it comes with are not confidence inspiring. I would recommend either welding the rear or using a good amount of the high temp exhaust gasket maker with the clamps provided like i did. Also the instructions Say to cut 4" from the resonator But It fits better if you cut 5" back. The install was easy. Using power tools and car ramps it took me just under an hour. This xpipe is definitely with the money. Other then the slight fitment issues I would recommend.

      Nasty loud!

This thing is what really should have come stock. It is super raspy, with pops and cracks. Get a lot of thumbs up. I paired this with Roush axlebacks. There really isn't much drone, more of a rumble...really not a huge deal considering how loud it is outside. This is not the exhaust for you if you don't want to be heard. Def loud on cold start and starts to really wake up after 2k. Only thing I could see better are the instructions and where the pipe meets the down pipes doesn't seem to be overly streamline. With that being said, no leaks and my tips look pretty even. I had a lift to use so install was easy...although jack stands probably would want to pull the exhaust off. Use 5ins from the case seam not 4 ins as well. I've heard both h pipe and x pipes with this AB. I prefer the x pipe sounds

      2 month review

This X-pipe resonator delete is everything it says it is. The construction is top notch with excellent welds. I took it to my local shop to install due to axlebacks being installed at the same time. I watch my local pro go at it. He had absolutely no problem with the install and actually spent more time to angle detail of the axlebacks because the mid pipe addition didn't take very long at all. With the saws all and support stands that he had. The exhaust note is much deeper than I expected from an x pipe which was a nice surprise. Nice and loud with burble and crackle on decelerations in sport mode in my auto. Overall cant go wrong for the price, must buy.

      Pair with Roush

Paired this with Roush axle back and wow! Setup is louder than my previous GT350 with the resonators removed. I've never heard it by itself, but pair it with a good axle back and you won't be disappointed. I like the raspy note.

The way it should have sounded from the factory

The stock exhaust let me wanted so much more looked under the car and seen the huge resonator factory that thing weights alot also but gives the 5.0 a nice raspy deep tone.
