Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with a quick review of the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for all 2015 and up Mustang GTs. The factory suitcase-style resonator on the '15 was one of those features that not a lot of Mustang fans welcomed when it came to the new GT since it basically just robs your new GT of both power and sound in the eyes of performance enthusiasts. The resonator delete is firstly going to free up some power and, of course, volume since it will be replacing that restrictive factory resonator with an X-Pipe. Like usual, the X-Pipe is going to give your car a raspier tone, but you'll still maintain the use of stock cats, which will save you money and also keep you legal at the same time. This resonator delete is going to be for those S550s that are daily driven, but it will also work for those hitting the track for some fun that's usually frowned upon on the streets. On a scale of one to five, I think this resonator delete will be a two or three in regards to an overall change in sound. But, ultimately, the rest of your car's exhaust will be the determining factor here. When we look at the price for this resonator delete, you'll find that the Ford Racing offering is in the middle of the pack, right in line with other brands, such as Flowmaster for the most part, while the Heartthrob will fall on the lower side of the spectrum and the Corsa will round out the top. As for the install, well it really depends on your setup. If you've planned on installing this with your factory axle-back, and perhaps maybe a different aftermarket axle-back, there will be some cutting involved. But it's not bad overall, and it'll be about a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter but just because of the cutting involved. The job should take you about a few hours from start to finish. So if you're looking to move away from that heavy factory resonator and add some growl and volume to your exhaust in the process, then be sure to check out the Ford Racing Resonator Delete X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Ford actually did a nice job on the stock Catalytic Converters, but the factory Resonator Mid-pipe could use some improvement. That's where the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe comes into play. Designed to balance out the exhaust gas pressure in your system, this X-Pipe will help improve exhaust flow for more power and an aggressive sound.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Ford Racing X-Pipe for the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Ford Racing X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you legal at the same time.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding new parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Constructed from 2.75" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent T-409 Stainless Steel tubing for durability, this Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

Application. This Ford Racing X-Pipe is a specifically designed for use on the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

You previously answered a question about fitment for a GT350. Someone installed this on their GT350 and sent me this link. Why do you suggest it doesn't fit?

MichaelO

  • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe can be used on the GT350, but will not be a direct fit. Additionally most owners will not install a delete kit like this, as the existing exhaust already has an H-Pipe, so having the OE exhaust cut and two sections of straight exhaust tube installed to replace the resonators is much more economical.

Hi i just put the bassani mid muffler exhaust on my car. I love the sound but it isn't as loud as if like it to be and I was wandering if I could replace the X-pipe that came with the bassani exhaust with the Ford Performance X-pipe? Or would any X-pipe work?

RyanS

  • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe would replace the OEM resonator, and is not designed to replace the muffler on the Bassani Mid Muffler Catback exhaust system. Removal of the muffler from the Bassani system would result in no mufflers on the vehicle, with only the cats to quiet the exhaust over open headers.

Will this bolt up to my mbrp street catback and stainless works longtubes int my 15 GT.

DerekF

  • This resonator delete X-Pipe is 2.75" whereas the MBRP Street cat-back is 3" so you will need to have a step up pipe welding both of these items together for proper function.

Will this fit on the corsa extreme cat back exhaust?

SantiagoB

  • Yes, this can work with that system, however, the corsa extreme cat back system already includes the Xpipe that deletes the resonator in the kit already, so this extra x pipe would not be necessary

    Quality X-Pipe from Ford

I feel that the stock exhaust is way too quite. So my first step was to install a resonator delete X-Pipe. I decided to buy the Ford Performance X-pipe due to its quality 409 Stainless Steel construction and the great fit and finish Ford Performance products are known for. This Ford Performance product did not disappoint. I am happy with the units weld quality and overall construction. I did the installation in my garage on jack stands. No issues at all, took about 2 hours taking my time. Measure twice, cut once... There is now a definite improvement in exhaust tone vs the stock resonator. But it is still very quite when cruising. For those looking for a moderate to slight sound improvement, this would be a good choice by itself. Also there is a weight reduction with this unit. 8 lbs vs the 23 pound stock resonator, so that's a plus as well. Again, I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone wanting an X-pipe.

    GREAT SOUND!

I paired the Ford Racing X-Pipe with my already installed RTR Competition Axleback and I am VERY happy with the sound. The X-Pipe added a very aggressive sound. Deleting the resonator gave the car a quiet, but deep idle, but once you open it up, the car is loud. The sound is very smooth but aggressive. When it comes to the install...EASY! Took me just over an hour, including getting it lifted, tools out and getting it back down on the ground. I definitely recommend this product!!!

Can't beat it for the money

Sounds great! The car should of sounded like this from the factory. It's louder then stock exhaust but won't wake up the whole neighborhood. Had local install it, which took less than an hour from start to finish. No complaints so far.

    Deeper exhaust note

The install was easy and straight forward. Some take the exhaust off the car to cut it while others leave it on the car. Did not run into any issues. However the directions do not tell you how many inches from the exhaust weld to cut the exhaust. It's 5" but you can hold the x pipe up to the exhaust and eyeball it to be safe.

    Finally sounds like a V8

I absolutely love my 2015 GT, but always felt that it was too quiet. Instead of going with a full catback I opted on getting an xpipe to delete the restrictive factory resonator. After the xpipe was installed, there was a decent increase in sound. Even at idle it has a deeper rumble now. When you get on the gas hard, it has a throaty/raspy sound which is amazing. Exactly what I was hoping to accomplish by deleting the resonator. Ford Racing did a great job with this xpipe and I would highly suggest this mod to anyone looking to get a little more muscle car sound out of their Mustang!

Much Better Than Stock, But Beware the Rasp

Excellent build quality, of course: it's a Ford Racing part, after all. I welded mine in because I find clamps to be leaky pains in the you-know-what. Easy to follow instructions - just follow them. Measure twice, cut once. The sound is great -vs- the stock resonator. Much louder, however it's a touch on the raspy side - so fair warning. I think if I were to do it again, I'd go with the H instead of an X for the S550.

    Used for factory resonator delete.

Installed with a Roush axle back exhaust, saved probably $300 - $500 over a full cat back exhaust system. Quality product, however the Ford Racing instructions say to cut 4" back on the stock resonator when it actually needs to be 5" for the X-pipe to fit.

This is how the car should come out of the factory

With the stock mufflers, the sound is exactly what I was looking for. The car feels more loose, effortless. Only detail , instructions from ford racing indicates cut at 4", and other buyer recommended 5". Use 5" at least with stock mufflers.

    First mod MUST!

I bought a new 15' gt last week and ordered my ford racing x pipe two days later. The stock exhaust is way too restrictive and eliminating the factory resonator was a must. I had the x pipe installed yesterday and am thrilled with the new sound. It sounds the way it should have to begin with in my opinion. I opted to leave the factory mufflers for now to avoid any extra attention from the cops haha. It's definitely louder now without being over the top and has the raspy muscle sound I was looking for! Can't say enough about this product and I'm very happy with American muscles customer service.

That sweet sound of automotive lust

Without a lift, I decided to take it to a muffler shop. All said and done an hour which cost me $100. From the first press of the start stop button I knew I made a good decision. Coupled with my Roush axle back mufflers, made for a sweet growl. Cold start was loud, almost exciting when it idles down it is still very noticeably loud. Not arrogant, not obnoxious. But dam close. Moving on the highway at 2000 rpm produced no drone.
