Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with a quick review of the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for all 2015 and up Mustang GTs. The factory suitcase-style resonator on the '15 was one of those features that not a lot of Mustang fans welcomed when it came to the new GT since it basically just robs your new GT of both power and sound in the eyes of performance enthusiasts. The resonator delete is firstly going to free up some power and, of course, volume since it will be replacing that restrictive factory resonator with an X-Pipe. Like usual, the X-Pipe is going to give your car a raspier tone, but you'll still maintain the use of stock cats, which will save you money and also keep you legal at the same time. This resonator delete is going to be for those S550s that are daily driven, but it will also work for those hitting the track for some fun that's usually frowned upon on the streets. On a scale of one to five, I think this resonator delete will be a two or three in regards to an overall change in sound. But, ultimately, the rest of your car's exhaust will be the determining factor here. When we look at the price for this resonator delete, you'll find that the Ford Racing offering is in the middle of the pack, right in line with other brands, such as Flowmaster for the most part, while the Heartthrob will fall on the lower side of the spectrum and the Corsa will round out the top. As for the install, well it really depends on your setup. If you've planned on installing this with your factory axle-back, and perhaps maybe a different aftermarket axle-back, there will be some cutting involved. But it's not bad overall, and it'll be about a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter but just because of the cutting involved. The job should take you about a few hours from start to finish. So if you're looking to move away from that heavy factory resonator and add some growl and volume to your exhaust in the process, then be sure to check out the Ford Racing Resonator Delete X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Ford actually did a nice job on the stock Catalytic Converters, but the factory Resonator Mid-pipe could use some improvement. That's where the Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe comes into play. Designed to balance out the exhaust gas pressure in your system, this X-Pipe will help improve exhaust flow for more power and an aggressive sound.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Ford Racing X-Pipe for the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Ford Racing X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you legal at the same time.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding new parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Constructed from 2.75" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent T-409 Stainless Steel tubing for durability, this Ford Racing Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

Application. This Ford Racing X-Pipe is a specifically designed for use on the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

What is the exact gain of power that you mentioned? Based on a stock 2017 gt

    Armandito

    • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe will give a slight performance gain, but it all depends on what tune the car has and how it is driven.

You previously answered a question about fitment for a GT350. Someone installed this on their GT350 and sent me this link. Why do you suggest it doesn't fit?

    MichaelO

    • The Ford Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe can be used on the GT350, but will not be a direct fit. Additionally most owners will not install a delete kit like this, as the existing exhaust already has an H-Pipe, so having the OE exhaust cut and two sections of straight exhaust tube installed to replace the resonators is much more economical.

Will this bolt up to my mbrp street catback and stainless works longtubes int my 15 GT.

    DerekF

    • This resonator delete X-Pipe is 2.75" whereas the MBRP Street cat-back is 3" so you will need to have a step up pipe welding both of these items together for proper function.

About how much HP gain can I expect on a 2018 Mustang GT? Does removing the resonator produce a "drone" type of noise inside the car while driving?

Will this fit the 2018 magnaflow competition catback exhaust ?

    JesusL

    • Yes, this x-pipe will be compatible with the Magnaflow competition cat-back exhaust system for your 2018 GT.

      FRPP X-pipe

Had just the Rousch axle back to start with. Sounded really good by themselves but when the x-pipe was added it really brought it all together. Be warned it's loud even on the inside. Around 2000 RPM'S there is a slight drone but you get used to it quickly. Fitment was a little of at the front, had to be slid back just a little. Had the rear welded, guy at shop didn't like the clamps. Well worth the money. Smile every time you accelerate.

      Worth it

I like the rasp and the way that the engine revs easier with the x- pipe. Drone is the problem that I have with the Kooks axle backs and I am considering another muffler to try and tone it down a bit.

Really make my car sound good especially when I get on it. I still have stock exhaust on my 2018 GT PP but when I add my Corsa Extremes soon its definitely going to make it scream.

      Black Mamba Project

I don't know if I am able to describe the wonderful sounds and impression that the Ford racing x pipe creates for my 2018 P.P.1 mustang . The x pipe fit very well . It was my first X pipe but I'm also a mechanic by trade and it looked like it was made extremely well . My car sounds so aggressive and it was hard to believe but it also performed better with take off and top end . The price for I paid for this x pipe was well worth it .

      Ford Performance X-Pipe

Received my x-pipe and was able to do the install myself on Jack stands and basic tools and a sawz-all. I just took it one step at a time and it all came together. Def not a fan of the clamps and will be getting the back end of the x-pipe properly welded. The car breathes a lot better now. Very satisfied with shipping time and quality of the product. Fit and Finish 4/5 due to the clamps Loudness 3/5 No perceived loudness unless I really get on the throttle Bang for your Buck 4/5 Ford Perf is pricey compared to other xpipes for sale Exhaust Note 4/5 Again, only till I stomp on it can I tell. When I do, however, it is glorious... using stock mufflers btw.

      Great sound

Bought this as a hold off till I get a full exhaust system. Ford instructions suck need to cut 6 inches back not 4. Other than that it sounds really good and cold start is actually pretty loud and turns heads

Put this on my new 2018 Mustang GT. Really increased the exhaust sound. Now it sounds like a muscle car should. Ordered it and had it in less than a week. Thanks again American. Muscle. Great service and products.

The x pipe it’s self gives it a little more sound to the car but combined with an axle back will really make your car loud

I had this installed to compliment my ford performance by Borla axle back exhaust, and the results were great! Get a few extra ponies to your stang and a deep rumble that doesn’t give you any drone at any speeds!

      Just right

Wanted more sound, but not so much as to wake the neighbors. Put this in and left the stock mufflers on. Sound is great- loud and aggressive, especially at start up, and when stomping the pedal on downshifts. Incredible bang for the buck.
