    I’m Justin with, and today I have with me 3 different brake pad options, all from Hawk Performance. We’re looking at the ceramic, the HPS, and the HP+, for both front and rear that will offer a broad range of performance that will suit everything from a bone stock daily driver, to an all out race course monster. Any one of these pads will far outperform your stock pads in just about every way, more braking performance, less fade and dust. However it’s very important you select the right pad for your application, so with that in mind, let’s break these 3 options down a little further. First up is the ceramic option from Hawk. These are going to be an ideal OE replacement and be perfectly suited for any daily driver, they’re going to bite strong without needing to be hot, be very quiet, and offer very minimal dust. This is all thanks to that ceramic compounds, which offers a nice balance between performance and everyday streetability. The next pad, the Hawk HPS will be right in the middle between the ceramics and the HP+ and will be for a daily driver or a weekend warrior, whose car does see a little track time and are just looking for a little bit more bite, and less fade. These pads utilize a therocarbon compound which does benefit from a little heat in order to perform their best but still offer great performance when cold. It is worth pointing out that these pads can be a little noisy when cold, and will definitely put off a little bit more dust than the ceramics, but all around, the HPS are a solid performer. Finally, we have the HP+. These are going to be for someone who subjects their Mustang to road courses and auto crossing where repetitive fade and high heat can kill lesser pads. Can you use these pads on the street? Yes, however, these pads feature a high temperature specific compound with a very high friction coefficient, which means these pads need to be hot and stay hot in order to perform at their best, like on a road course or an auto cross track. Once hot, these HP+ pads will bite hard, and offer great performance with very little fade, these pads tend to be very noisy and put off a good amount of dust, however since they’re geared more towards a race car versus a show car, most folks should be fine with that. Installing these pads from Hawk or any brake pads at that matter is a pretty simple task if you’ve never tackled brakes before. Due to the aggressive compounds of these pads, Hawk included a grease, to be used in conjunction with the included shim located on the back of the pad just to keep the noise level down. It’s very important that you use the grease on the back of the pad and not on the front of the pad, just so you don’t mess up your new brakes. Overall, getting the fronts and rears installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. When it comes down to it, brake pads and tires are 2 of the biggest factors when it comes to helping your car stop faster. So try upgrading your Mustang to a quality pad like one of these Hawk options, and discover the difference in your braking performance.

    Superior Stopping Power. Whether you're replacing worn-out stock pads or looking for an inexpensive way to improve your S197's stopping power, Hawk HPS pads are an affordable alternative to a complete brake upgrade.     Street/Strip Use. Hawk HPS pads are a great balance of streetability and track performance. They're at their best once they're a little warm, but provide good stopping power even cold so you can drive them on your dual use street and strip 'Stang and still enjoy their performance advantages.

    Reduced Brake Fade. If you like to take your Pony to the track or strip, you know that brake fade is your enemy. Hawk HPS pads are designed to resist fade more than other pads, ensuring consistent braking even when things get hot.

    Less Noise & Dust. Hawk uses a unique Ferro-Carbon formula for increased stopping power, low brake dust, and less noise than dedicated race pads.

    Application. This set of Hawk HPS Brake Pads are specifically designed to be used on the front of the 2005 to 2014 V6, GT and Bullitt Mustangs. Does not fit GT Brembo, Shelby GT500 or BOSS Mustangs. Set includes driver-side and passenger-side brake pads.

      Be improvement

      Love the hawk street performance brake pads. Car rides smoother since the install. No brake noises and can stop with more confidence. The hardest part of the installation was pushing the piston back in. Even with using the piston tool had to muscle it back in. First time the brakes have ever been changed with 125,000 miles. I knew that could be an issue having that many miles. Other than that everything fit nice. Car has more stopping power with the hawk pads and actually rides smoother.

      These were a marked improvement over the stock pads. Really nice on the stock calipers. They do squeak occasionally, but it is nothing bad or annoying.

      Squeals so bad its embarassing

      These brake pads worked pretty well for the first 9 months, I didn't really have any complaints. They worked much better than stock pads. After that unfortunately short blissful period of time, my brakes began to emit a horrendously intense screeching sound that would break necks for parsecs. It became truly embarrassing to drive with these pads. I thought to myself, "I spent a ton of money on these pads, I should give them another chance". Nope. After several more months of trying to work on them and driving they continuously make horrible squealing noises no matter what. Also, the brake dust output of these wailing banshees is HORRIBLE. Order these pads if you like wiping down your wheels every couple of days. I am now ordering ceramic pads from AM and spending more $$ so I can drive squeal-free and dust-free like a civilized automobilist. AM is great, but Hawk really messed up this time with their product.

      Hawk Performance HPS Brake Pads

      I was slacking on getting new brakes for my car. While I was pretty happy with the stock brakes, they were getting worn. I figured I'd give Hawk a try and I am more than pleased. The car stops like it is brand new, and I couldn't be happier. I definitely recommend these pads. Perfect fit, not much dust, and excellent stopping power.

      Great pads

      The hawk HPS pads are great cold are hot no noise. They grad great! Will get the same pads next time I do my brakes. I matched them with stoptech slotted and cross drilled rotors.

      Loudest brakes I've ever used

      I got these to add some bite to my modified 05 mustang v6 manual. They squeel louder and more often than any pad I've ever used before. They have less initial bite especially when cold but stopp much better overall than my oem and wagner used before however it is not worth the nightmarish squeeling every time I stop. People look at me like I need to change my brakes but they are only 3 month old. Loudest 3 months. I was hoping they would wear in and stop. I put new oem rotors on and cleaned before install. Followed break in procedure to the t. Do not buy if you plan to use on a daily.

      Great stuff! No complaints. The design and packaging of Hawk HPS pads is top notch. They explicitly tell you what to do for prep and burnishing. The inclusion of brake grease is highly appreciated. Highly recommended.

      good aftermarket pads vs stock

      these pads seem to have a little better braking power than the stock pads (although its tough to tell when you're comparing worn stock to new aftermarket). they do smell a bit funny during initial break in but work well. i put these on my daily driver and have not taken them to the track or anything. one of the pads came with a broken spring but the crew at Americanmuscle made it right ASAP.

      These things are great

      Installed these on my 2011 GT along with a set of powerslot rotors and they are awesome. Installation was easy as pie, only reason I selected afternoon for install is because I took the opportunity to paint my calipers and brackets while I had it apart. As for stopping power, these things are excellent, and I suspect anyone having an issue here is not performing the bed in procedure correctly. I did Hawk's procedure twice to get a nice transfer layer, parked it, let it cool for 30 minutes and now it's grippy even when cold. They're also very quiet, I used the supplied grease on the backside of all the pads and have no noise to speak of. Overall this is a great product and I would definitely recommend it.

      Pretty good brakes

      To start. My star rating is only my opinion. However, these brake pads are as AM describes. They come in a good box with exactly what is described. Install is easy and fast. If you buy these pads in complete set of 4 they will cost around $200. The performance is some thing you have to get use too. I do not recommend these for cold parts of the country unless you drive with purpose. I live in Las Vegas and the heat does improve stopping power with out fade. The hotter they get the better they work. Recommend purchase for the aggressive driver.

      Much Better Than Stock

      Living in New York braking hard often is a rather common occurrence. The stock pads felt a little soft so I decided to upgrade to the Hawk pads. HUGE difference in stopping power. Also, I would like to comment on a few things that I did notice that other reviewers commented on: 1 - The backing clips on some of the pads had fallen off even before taking them out of the package. Not a big deal, I was able to put them back on. 2 - They do generate more dust than the stock pads. My wheels are a different shade of gray now! 3 - I have not noticed them being any louder than stock, however I was generous with the supplied lubricant, also, I really took my time to sand the rotors well and made sure to bed-in the pads. 4 - Make sure you take time to bed-in the pads properly so that they brake as intended. I am very happy with these new pads and would totally recommend them.

      Not Bad

      I got front and rear pads along with Powerslot Rotors. The pads do need a slight warm-up in order to work at max efficiency but once warm they do bite well and help stop the car better than the stock pads ever did. These pads are relatively quiet and leave moderate dust on your wheels. The Combination of pads and rotors have made a nice improvement to overall breaking to include in the rain at Autobahn speeds. Good product, worth the price and peace of mind.

      Weaker than stock

      These pads have no advantage over stock, in fact they are actually weaker and fail quicker. I bought these for a 2-day track event that I had previously used stock pads for. I was looking for an improvement over stock pads and the HPS are a huge disappointment. The pads started to fail almost immediately after they got hot, mine overheated completely smearing red burned up pad residue all over the rotors. There is simply no reason for these pads to exist, the only thing they offer is a ton of brake dust. Don't' waste your money with these.

      HPS Brake Pads

      These brake pads were easy to install, everything fit properly and they have pretty good stopping power as well. Haven't had any issues with noise since installing either. Hard to judge the dust since it's winter and I haven't spent much time washing the car, so it'd be hard to distinguish from the road salt. My rear pads weren't as bad as the front, and I only did the front until I got a tool to compress the rear pistons, but I actually felt like I got a bit more responsiveness after upgrading the rear pads as well even though the fronts do most of the work.

      Dont Stop for These Pads

      Decided to upgrade the stock pads to gain some much needed bite, three problems. The install clips are garbage and come off with very little effort. Unlike most of the other reviews, I would say they do impact both the install and chatter created by not having the clips to secure the pad to the caliper. The annoying chatter towartds the end of the stop and releasing the brake from a stop..UGH! Finally, make sure you realize these pads need more than a litle heat to get them to bite, humidity is a killer on these pads as well. Not a fan of Hawk HPS pads. Big fan of American Muscle.
