- How to Install Wheels on Your 1979-2013 Mustang
Hey everyone, I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a look at our AmericanMuscle GT500 Style Wheels for your 2005 and up Mustang. GT500’s have always been one of the baddest Mustangs on the block and now your ride can enjoy the stylings of the 2010 GT500, thanks to these split 5-spoke wheels. The wheels are available with 3 different finishes, including a black painted finish, a triple dipped chrome finish, or a black machined finish. As for the sizes, the wheels are available in either an 18” diameter with an 8 inch front and 9 inch rear, or a 19” diameter with an 8.5 inch front and a 10 inch rear. Staggered fitment is cool for a couple of different reasons. First off, it looks awesome. A wider rear wheel not only improves your stance, but also helps get that power down to the ground thanks to the wider rear tire and contact patch. Not only that, it also makes for more responsive handling as well, thanks to the narrow front tire. It’s a win-win. Now, you can purchase these wheels without tires if you want; however, the smart move would be to take advantage of one of our wheel and tire combos that pair your new GT500 style wheels up with some of the better performing tires on the market today in sizes that are guaranteed to fit without rubbing, even if you’re lowered an inch or two. Not only that, you also get to take advantage of our free shipping and handling, free mounting and balancing, and optional nitrogen fill. Remember, you 2007 and up folks have to keep in mind your vehicles are equipped with a TPMS sensor. This means a tire pressure monitoring system that needs to be addressed when ordering new wheels. These aluminum AM wheels are extremely durable, but if you ever encounter any problems, every rim features a lifetime structural warranty, as well as a one year warranty on finish, you can’t beat that. There are very few mods on the market today that can change the attitude of any ride like a new set of shoes. These AmericanMuscle wheels are sure to offer the modern aggressive stylings that look great on any Mustang.

Mounting & Balancing: AmericanMuscle offers professional mounting and balancing on all wheels and tires when purchased together on the same order. This will allow you to swap out your old wheels for your new set when they arrive.
What is TPMS? The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS for short) is a factory installed safety feature on all 2007 and newer Ford Mustangs that alerts you when your tire pressure drops to an unsafe limit.
How do I keep my TPMS feature? Aftermarket wheels do not come with TPMS sensors. However, if you select 'Add TPMS Sensor Kit' and your specific year range from the options listed above, we'll install the TPMS Sensors in your new wheels!

Should be part of an SUV conversion kit
The wheels undoubtedly look great by themselves, but unfortunately when they are installed, due to their offset, these wheels stick too far out when compared to the actual OE GT500 wheels. This causes the following: - Viewed from the side, accentuates the tall OE ride height. it makes my Mustang have now the ride stance of a truck. That pretty much forces me to buy a lowering kit. - Pushing the tires out also ruins the looks from the front, now I also need a front chin to try to make up for the front look. A lower suspension would also help to tuck the rims in a little bit. Initially I thought it would take some time for me to get used to the looks, but an year later I still don't like the overall change in looks. - As the tires are pushed out, it seems that a lot more road debris is being sent by the tires hitting the sides of the rear bumper, which is getting some nasty marks. These are going to Craigslist.Helpful (9)

GT 500 Black machined wheels
I have a redfire 2006 GT. The car had OE aluminum 5 spoke wheels. Don't get me wrong the car looked great. I contemplated for over two weeks on which wheels to buy. I went round and round between chrome bullitts, anthracite bullitts, chrome GT 500 and the machined GT 500. I finally settled on the black machinesdGT 500 wheels. Without a doubt I made the right decision. I get complements everyday about how good my car looks. If you're on the fence. Get down and make the purchase. You won't regret it.Helpful (11)

AM service is the best-the wheels not so much
I loved these wheels when they arrived last June. I ordered a staggered set up, with 18X9 in the front and 18X10 in the rear. My black Mustang NEEDS these wheels! They absolutely transform the look of the car. I wrapped them with summer only performance tires and put them in storage come October. I pulled them out this spring, and the machine faces were all pitted. They look bad, but worse than that, you can't even try to polish them up, because they are not polished- they are machined. Once the aluminum starts to pit, there's nothing you can do. AM offers a 1 year warranty on the finish, which they honored- took really good care of me. But- the new 18X9 wheels have a different center cap than last year's wheels, and different than the 18X10's. Be aware- if you order a staggered set up like I did, you'll have to order a set of center caps too, if you want them to match. Again, AM took care of me, and sent me a pair of center caps to match. BUT... when the tire shop installed them with the set of 3/4" lug nuts I ordered for my old set, they did not fit on my car! Apparently, the new 18X9 wheels aren't as thick as last year's model, meaning the lugs bottomed out against the end of the wheel stud before they seated against the face of the rim. The techs at the tire shop compared the 2 wheels and confirmed- where the lug nuts seat against the face of the wheel, the metal is thinner on the new ones, so the lugs never come into contact with the face of the rim. The fix? Techs at the tire shop cut 1/4" off the end of my wheel studs so the lug nuts would seat against the wheel before they bottomed out against the end of the stud. That's a big deal to me- that the shop had to cut my lug bolts shorter to make these wheels fit on my car. I give them 4 stars because they look amazing, but it took some "modding" to make them fit, and I know they are going to require constant cleaning and waxing to protect the machined faces from pitting- even in the summer.Helpful (11)

These wheels are the best ones for my mustang I just love it more with this new wheels.Helpful (11)
There is a side note which indicates that only 3/4" lug nuts fit these wheels and factory lug nuts (13/16") are too big. Yet in the video Justin says that factory lug nuts fit these wheels. Which is it?
Factory lug nuts will work for this wheel.
I'm getting 235/50-18 snow tires, will these rims fit without any problems, or will they be too wide for the tires?
Proper snow tire fitment can vary based on the exact tire model and manufacturer. We recommend consulting with the tire manufacturer to determine the best wheel size for you.
My 07 mustang is lowered 1.5" will these tires and rims stay with in the wheel well or will the stick out some or rub the fenders at all?
All of our premade wheel and tire kits are guaranteed to not cause any rubbing as long as your Mustang is lowered 2" or less.
What is the hub bore for these wheels? I want to put them on a car with a 70.5 mm hub and was wondering if they'll fit.
The 2010 GT500 Style Black Machined Wheel will have a 70.6mm hub bore.
Will these fit a 235/45 r 18 tire without having a bunch of rim showing.
While capable of fitting a 235/45R18 tire, the 2010 GT500 Style Black Machined Wheel in 18x9 would not be recommended as it will have a slight "stretched" look.
The Staggered 2010 GT500 Style Black Machined Wheel and NITTO INVO Tire Kit is designed to sit flush with the fender lips.
The machined surfaces will have a clear coating to them.
These wheels will certainly fit on the front and back with standard brakes.
The 2010 GT500 Style Black Machined Wheel - 18x9 will fit a 2011 V6 Mustang. We do not offer the SUMITOMO HTR Z III Max Performance Summer Tire in a size that would fit, however we do offer the Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 255/45R18 (Item 63008) which is the recommended size for that size wheel. Yes, this wheel and tire kit will fit on a 2010 Shelby GT500 convertible Mustang.
Yes, these will support both the stock tires and the stock TPMS sensors.
The same size lug nuts you have now should fit perfectly fine. The stock size lug nuts will work as well.
Even though the center caps for the Staggered 2010 GT500 Style Black Machined Wheel & NITTO INVO Tire Kit - 18x9/10 (05-14 All) and the standard Mustang center cap are both 2.5", the Mustang center caps will not fit properly as they have a different tooth length.
The American Muscle wheel centers are larger than factory mustang but I don't know about SVT, I'm guessing they won't fit either. AMR centers look good though.
No. I have the same wheels and they did not work
