      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. Adam here with americanmuscle.com, and today we're taking a quick look at and installing the MP Concepts Octangle Exhaust Tip available for the MP Concepts Quad Rear Diffuser, fitting the '15 to '17 GT Premium and EcoBoost Premium. First and foremost, guys, right off the bat, this Octangle Tip from MP Concepts is specifically made to be used only with the MP Concepts quad rear diffuser. If you're looking to pick up the quad rear diffuser you see here on our '15 GT, this is gonna give you a nice aggressive rear-end and you get to complement that nicely with an extremely unique octangle tip. Now, obviously converting your factory single tip exhaust to a quad tip exhaust is a little involved, so you have to switch out the rear diffuser. And to fill up that quad exit rear diffuser, this octangle tip is very different. It's a completely polished stainless steel. It's got eight sides, hence the octangle name, and it's gotten rolled edges going onto the inside. So they're really thick and durable-looking. Now, something I wanna say here is that obviously, this is not going to be for everyone. The octangle exhaust tips here are somewhat reminiscent of a Challenger which uses the rectangular tips, so I can see sort of similarities there, which may not be for everybody looking to stick to the very loved Mustang lineage, but it's for guys who want stand out. Now, this is something I will so mention. It may not be for everybody simply because you have two options. One, you can slide it right on over the factory single exhaust tip like we have here, but if you don't like the idea that you can see the factory tip on the inside, you do have the option to cut your factory tip off. Now, that bumps the install difficulty up just a little bit, I will admit, but this is where the guys looking to cut costs. If you don't wanna spend money on a full quad tip exhaust cat-back or quad tip axle back, getting a tip like this from MP Concepts that just bolts to the inside of the diffuser is a great way to save some money, but still change the appearance completely. So just keep that in mind. There's a lot of avenues you can take. Now, if you like this rear diffuser and you don't wanna buy a full quad tip exhaust, and you're not into the Octangle, there is a more common dual or quad-tip exhaust, I should say, made by MP Concepts that's a little bit more traditional, but with that one, you have to cut the exhaust tip off. So a couple of different avenues to keep in mind, just wanna give it all of the information to you so you can make your decision for yourself. Now, this tip here is gonna run you right around 60 bucks. It is made with really good quality materials and the tabs are welded straight onto it so it bolts right to the inside of the diffuser. Now, in terms of the installation, I'm giving this exhaust tip here one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter because it goes right on using four Phillips head screws to the inside of your new MP Concepts Quad Rear Diffuser. Now, if you wanna take that a step further and cut your factory tips off, then that's gonna jump up to three out of three wrenches because you got to bring out the sawzall and an appropriate blade, and then, of course, you wanna have that skill on hand. If not, no sense handing it over to a shop to get done by a professional. Now, the install will take you all of 30 minutes from start to finish, and that's assuming your MP Concepts diffuser is already installed. If you don't have it already installed and you're starting from scratch with the factory diffuser, add maybe an hour or two to the installation to get it done properly. I'm gonna show you every single step of the process, starting with our diffuser already on. If you wanna see how the diffuser gets installed, we have a separate install video for that, which you can check out on the diffusers product page. Now, of course, if you don't feel comfortable tackling that yourself, there's no shame handing it over to a professional to get it done properly. All right. Tools using this install include a 1/4-inch ratchet, 7-millimeter deep socket, panel removal tool, and a Phillips head screwdriver. Jumping on over to the install portion here of our new exhaust tips, the Octangle tips, there are two different methods of install. I'm gonna do the install, assuming you already have your MP concept's rear diffuser installed on your S550. If you don't already have your diffuser installed, you can install your tip separately on the table and then bolt it all up together. But if you already have the diffuser installed, I'm gonna show you what that method looks like because it's a little bit more involved. In order to install it with the diffuser already on the car, we're gonna have to remove the three screws holding it on to each side along with the pushpin clip on the front, I'm gonna snap off one side just enough to bulk up the tips and then snap it back on. We're gonna do each side independently. By doing one side at a time, we don't have to completely undo all of the rear diffuser, set it on the table, install the tips. It just saves time. So, again, if you already have your diffuser installed, follow this method. If not, just bolt your tips to the back of the diffuser and then altogether install it. What do you say we get started? All right. So now I'm grabbing a 7-millimeter ratchet. We have 3 7-millimeter screws, one on each side here, and then one behind this bracket. You won't be able to see this guy, but if you reach your hand over, it's just right alongside these other two. So now we can get off this plastic pushpin clip. Yours may have to. Ours was missing one, so we're just gonna work with one here. But if you have two, get both of them off there. All right. So next to our exhaust tip here on our passenger side, we have one more of those pushpin clips holding on the bottom there, at least just for this side since we're working on one side at a time. All right. At this point, we can snap off the little clips holding the diffuser to the bumper itself. Now, this is two pieces here, so I'm just gonna remove this guy and set it down just because I know it's probably gonna fall anyway. From there, snapping this off just like that. Now, we only need half of it just like this. We're gonna bolt the tip to here. There are four little posts there for the Phillips head screws, and then we're gonna clip it back on and then we're gonna do the other side. Just a quick note, guys, when you have the exhaust on and you don't wanna see the factory tip on the inside of your Octangle tip, you can cut the factory tip off now. Now, again, it's not necessarily required, but if you don't like the look of seeing that in the center there, then you can just take a sawzall and a metal thin curve blade and just cut that right off right where it's welded to the factory muffler and you can move on. We're not gonna be doing that. We're just bolting it right on top of the tip, but the option is there for you to do that now.All right. So now we can take our passenger side tip because that's the side I'm starting on. They are side-specific, and you're basically gonna set this on to the backside of the diffuser. I'm gonna take the Phillips head screw included in the kit and I'm just going to lightly thread this guy on just so it holds the screw on. Once you have that there, grab a Phillips head screwdriver. And I'm just gonna work that guy on there. You don't wanna over-tighten this because after all you are screwing into plastic, so over-stripping it will then cause it to not be held on correctly. So we have that set in. Let's do the other four. All right. So now that that's held on, line up the other tabs and tighten them down. All right. Make sure they're all nice and tight and secure, and now we can snap this side back on. Make sure that the entire balance is lined up correctly. Make sure this is inserting the factory tip inside. Snap that guy back into place all the way around. Remember that I did take off that extra piece, so we have to snap that guy back in place. All right. Now we can put the three screws back on. All right. Head back under here and put those three screws on in this side. I'm gonna just tighten this guy down by hand and then do the same thing for the other two. Grab your 7 socket and tighten it down. All right. Lift this tab back up and put your push pin clip through. Again, if you have the second one here, do the same thing there. All right. And the last one here next to the tip. Repeat that exact same process on the opposite side. That's gonna wrap this one up, guys. Of course, if you're looking to get the MP Concepts Octangle Exhaust Tips for the MP Concepts Quad Rear Diffuser, you can get yours right here at americanmuscle.com.
