    Hey, guys. Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here here with the MSD Launch Master 2-Step Rev Limiter for 1999 to 2010 V8 Mustangs. The MSD 2-step is going to be for the '99 to 2010 owners out there that are looking to create a consistent, reliable launch on the track, strip, or even on the street. This launch control connects to the factory coils and it works by cutting spark, not fuel, so it's a good option for anyone looking for a safe and effective launch control for their Mustang. A 2-step or a launch control or a stutter box is a simple design, but it's helpful to the performance enthusiast that wants to have more consistent performance. The 2-step will give you the ability to define your launch RPM that the device will maintain for you. This allows you to hold the car at full throttle while preparing to leave the line, so you don't have to worry about manually holding your launch RPM and watching the tree at the same time. If you have a forced induction setup, this allows you to build boost while you're waiting to leave. If you have an NA setup, this just makes it easier for you to dial in that perfect launch RPM where you have a smooth, consistent launch with maximum power and no wheel hop. And, of course, that's gonna lead to faster 60-foot times at the strip, or pushing you into the first corner faster, or hell, maybe you just want to have fun on the street. The MSD 2-step works by cutting spark, not fuel, which is what you want. It is possible to induce a 2-step situation by cutting fuel, but anyone in their right mind wouldn't do it that way. It's dangerous and it's not a good way to do it. So the device will intercept the spark signal from the ECU and it will modify it, which actually leads to a misfire to hold the car at the desired launch RPM. The MSD is easy to set launch RPMs. There are two dials where the big RPM range that moves in 100 RPM increments, so you can really set your launch RPM where the car performs the best. The other nice thing about this is that it has an LED that will show you when the launch control is active, which is not only helpful on the line but it's also helpful for the street cars that want to use this. As far as price, the 2-step from MSD is going to cost you a little over $200. So the install here is not difficult. You do have a little bit of room to determine how you want to wire this in, but the general idea is to get your direct fit harness plugged into your coil wires, mount the module, and run a ground. You need to run the wiring into the cabin and tap into the clutch switch, so you're looking at some light wiring, nothing too technical, though. Overall, this is a one-wrench install on our scale here and should take you about just an hour to complete.     can I use it on an automatic?

    So after looking at the installation notes; it said that it may ruin your cats - i understand that. Someone i know who has a 2015 gt said that in order for me to buy and install this I'd have to get rid of my cats completely. Does anyone know if this is true?

    • The MSD Launch Master 2 Step Rev Limiter does not require the removal of the catalytic converters, however, since you will run the risk of damaging them, it would not be a bad idea to remove them completely. With this said, you can still use your catalytic converters, and will not affect the operation of the rev limiter module.

    I've got a 2006 GT but with the 2010 GT500 motor. Did it work on it ?

    • The MSD Launch Master 2 Step Rev Limiter (99-10 V8) will work with a 2010 GT500, or a 2006 GT. However, we can't guarantee that this will be a direct fit because the vehicle has been so heavily modified off of its original platform.

    I'm interested in using this at the strip, will it engage between shifts everytime I hit the clutch? Seems like cutting spark between shifts wouldn't be good...

    I’ve seen a few V6 Mustangs from 2005-2008 run two step, is there another product that will work other than this?

      No install tutorial has the same wiring configuration or colors. When I plug in the coilpacks it makes my car run like garbage.

      Wise Investment

      Super easy to install, I put a toggle switch in the center console in line with the clutch wire. Does exactly what it's intended to do. I have had it on my car for 2 years now. Will start to flood the car if you get stupid with it, just let it run for a few minutes after you're done lighting the ground on fire and you'll be good.

      Simple plug and play

      Easiest way to run the cables for 05-09 is through the rubber grommet behind the front driver's side wheel. The grommet has a nipple you can cut and pull the wires through right behind the clutch. I used the black wire coming from the clutch switch and it works flawlessly.

      2007 shelby gt 2 step

      pretty easy install overall, everything is a plug and play other then running your power wire through the fire wall and then tapping it into the power wire above the clutch on the clutch switch, took about an hour to install. and of course your not getting any more power but it does help with launch control big time and when you go driving around colleges at night to scare the girls with the nasty 2 step pop and flames. (straight piped)

      Difficult to install

      The MSD 2 step comes with very vague installation instructions and took longer than it was supposed to. I experienced lower 60ft times at the strip and faster 1/4 times.

      The MSD 2 step works great.when installing it on a 08 GT manual .i tap into the WHITE wire on Top of the clutch with the blue wire.It works very well for Drag Racing.

      amazing

      it sounds amazing, just make sure you got some tires to hook. i’m running some 295/50/15’s and it hooks as soon as you let that clutch out. install takes about 5 min if you know which wire to connect to the clutch.

      Works great. Sounds great.

      I have a 4.6 3v swapped F100. It's better described as a S197 Mustang with a bed. I set my launch rpm to 3K. Bam! It runs very hard. American Muscle has been good to me except being involved with Bama. Bama hasn't helped one bit.

      Best launch control out there.. i had the n2mb for an hour and took it out. Installation was about an hour plug and play with one wire to run to the clutch switch. Easy setting changes and holds perfect each time

      Almost works

      Revs to the set rpm and then has a noticeable missfire but still revs higher. Dials for adjusting it seen super cheap too. I will adjust this review accordingly If I can get this issue resolved.
