        4 2000 GT - Installed

It arrived on time. As described. It took too long to install. Bought a used car and seller didn't disclose a lot of issues.

        Don't Waste your time

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on the Ford Racing intake. This one is cheaper for a reason as they cut as many corners as possible. Mine destroyed itself in less than a year in the area below the thermostat. Plastic blew apart along with the garbage gasket. Don't waste your time or $.

        Does it’s job

If you have a 99-04 mustang GT, you’ve probably had your intake manifold crack. Replaced it and fixed the leak with this. Didn’t feel any noticeable HP gains

        Good intake for the price

I decided to go the cheaper route when replacing my intake manifold as I’m planning on selling the car in the next year or so. I had been fighting a coolant leak that was starting to get pretty bad. Coolant was leaking into cylinder 1 and 2 causing the plugs to foul which resulted in misfires. Replacing it was pretty straight forward after watching a few YouTube videos. Make sure you have a torque wrench and follow the bolt tightening pattern and torque specs. I went ahead and replaced the spark plugs while everything was apart which made that job a little easier. Do not use the thermostat housing spacer or the included thermostat gasket. I had a leak from there using them. (Wasn’t sure if I needed the spacer or not, but obviously not) Took out the spacer and it still leaked slightly with the new gasket. I put my old gasket back in and there was no longer any leaking from that area. It has been about 3 weeks and I have had no issues. Didn’t notice any power loss or anything, but the car is my daily driver so I’m not driving it hard.

        Does the job

I bought this to replace my leaking intake on my 2004 4.6 Explorer. The directions werent much to go by. I'm just glad they had the pattern to tighten down the intake properly. Sealed up good and fit perfect. Would buy again if I had to replace the one on my Mustang

        It works with less horsepower

After installing this Dorman intake manifold my car had noticeably less power. After I noticed this, I looked online and there is others that said they lost 15 horsepower, and dyno proven. If you're in a pinch for money and this is all you can afford then get it. Otherwise get the Ford Performance intake manifold. That's what I should have done. I'm very disappointed in this intake manifold.

This replacement intake has the pre installed gaskets right? Will I need to buy the gasket strip separately and place under the manifold? Or do I just clean it off and set the manifold directly on the metal? Will the pre installed gaskets prevent leaks or do I need a separate gasket strip?

      • Yes just set the new intake with the pre installed gaskets directly on the heads after cleaning first of course, the gaskets provided should comply with the oem specifications therefore they should give no problem

What are PI(Performance Improved) heads, and how do you know which ones I have? My car is an 01GT w/ factory heads.

      • PI heads are what Ford called the Performance Improved cylinder heads on the 99-04 4.6L 2v Modular V8. Short version: You have PI heads, while stock 96-98 GT models don't. Long version: The 96-98 SN-95 Mustang GT models used a very similar 4.6L 2v Modular V8, but they only made 215-225 HP stock. With the release of the New Edge models, Ford swapped out the heads for the PI ones, made this better intake manifold to fit them, and swapped out the camshafts for better ones. This brought the engine to 260 HP for 99-04. Outside of these part swaps, the non-PI engines are functionally the same as the PI engines.

What's the difference between this manifold and the one from Ford Racing (Item #24010)? Will the other one perform better or last longer? They look about the same.

      • This Replacement PI Intake Manifold w/ Gasket Set is an aftermarket replacement for your factory intake manifold for the 1999 to 2004 Mustang GT. The Ford Racing Intake Manifold will be slightly larger and flow better than this factory replacement.

What alternator bracket do I need? I have the 2000 Mustand GT. Do I just simply order a alternator bracket off a 2001 Mustang GT?

      • I ordered the manifold, and put it on a 2000 GT I ended up not needing the bracket. I also read for the people who need the bracket you can just drill new holes in old bracket.

It says this only fits 99-04 but how different are the intake manifold ports compared to a 1998 sn-95. We've been having trouble with the plastic notorious leaking manifolds, and a cast aluminum manifold would be much nicer. Do I need pi heads or will the intake manifold gasket/ silicone trick work? Thank you!

      • Unfortunately this manifold will not work with the 1998 models as it is designed for the 99-04 Mustang GT models.
