    Ask a Question

will this x-pipe fit stock exhaust and aftermarket cat backs?

    BrentM

Ok so I have an Off-road x pipe right now with stock headers. Looking to get the Pypes long tube headers with pypes shorty off road x pipe. But with the off road x pipe I have now my check engine light is on. If I get this new pypes shorty off road x pipe with my check engine light still come on? If so how can I prevent that?

    Austin

    • Even with the long tube headers and this shorty mid-pipe , since the exhaust will have no cats the check engine light will stay on. A way to fix this would be a custom tune for the off-road mid-pipe. You will also need to get a custom tune when doing long tube headers. A link will be provided below of a great custom tuner! https://www.americanmuscle.com/x4-custom-tuner-2011gt.html

Will this X-pipe fit right up to borla long tube headers?

    routt

    • It is always best to mate long tube headers with a mid-pipe made from the same company. With that being said, the recommended mid-pipe comes with the Borla 3" catback exhaust item #29021 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/borla-atak-catback-1113gt.html). Other mid-pipes may need to be modified to mate up and work with the Borla long tube headers.

I have the Pypes longtubes, pypes short x, and mbrp exhaust. I want to lower my suspension but this exhaust system seems to hang about 2-3" lower than the rest of the vehicle, does anyone have this combo with a lowered suspension and no problems bottoming out?

    PowerPedal

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-pipe (11-14 GT w/ Long Tube Headers) should not hang down lower than the other exhaust components. If the clearance is an issue, you can also make another bracket to support the mid pipe. Or you can go with a smaller diameter pipe that will be able to sit higher up without touching the body.

Another fitment question My exhaust system never ceases to confuse me. I have Axle-backs and nothing more, I want a set of Pypes long tube headers and this shorty X-Pipe. I thought that my factory piping was 2.75 inches....Will I have to buy a catback system just to get 3 inch piping between the Axle backs and this X Pipe? Keep in mind I already have the axle backs

    Anth

    • You can either buy a cat-back with a 3 inch diameter, or you can just modify your current exhaust to fit with the Pypes Off-Road X-pipe (11-14 GT w/ Long Tube Headers).

Fitment question Would this bolt right on with the Pypes catback?

    Jaydub

    • Combined with the required Pypes Long Tube Headers, absolutely! The LTHs with this shorty x-pipe and the Pype-Bomb Super System would be a great combination, giving you optimum performance. I'd highly recommend getting a custom tune as well to get the full potential of your upgrade!

Great idle note, better rev note!

Pretty easy install once the headers are on and ready to go. Cruising around it's very mild, but anything over 3k sounds super aggressive and it's amazing!

      Great Sound!

This X pipe fits with the long tube Pypes really well , i read other posts about it hitting the steering rack but I had no issues. It gives my car a "Metallic' sound at high RPM's

      Great Complementary Mod

The offroad x pipe in my opinion is a must have if you want the most from your long tubes. The increased flow and sound make it hard to beat. The fit was pretty spot on except I felt like it hung a little low from the rest of the exhaust. It's pretty easy installing, just took me a weekend since I'm no mechanic and no lift. The price is pretty good also, and the sound you get when you first start it. It's so worth it, you get a deep throaty tone that is so aggressive. Definitely recommend if you have a long tube set up.

      Entire Off-Road Pypes System

I had a shop install the entire system for me: Pypes Long Tube Headers Shorty X Pipe Super System All together this system is very loud at full throttle and sounds amazing at normal driving RPMs (1500-3000 Id say) Wide open it sounds amazing. If youre going to get this product you might as well get the entire set up. You will not regret it. You will get a "let me hear it!" from a stranger at least once every day.
