Hey, what's up everybody? Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my quick breakdown and sound clips of the Pypes Off Road X-Pipe fitting your 2011 through 2014 Mustang GT. Switching out the mid-pipe on your Coyote powered S197 is a great way to pick up some decent power and can totally transform the way your exhaust sounds. Now, when picking the right mid-pipe for your application, you're going to encounter two different options, H or X-Pipe and Catted or Off Road. This particular mid-pipe I have with me here from Pypes is their Off Road X-Pipe configuration which does not have Catalytic Converters and therefore, will give you the biggest power gains. Now the X-Pipe configuration will also give you more top end gains and give your car an aggressive, raspy tone compared to an H-pipe which will typically give you that low end muscle car rumble. The X-Pipe is constructed using durable 304 grade stainless steel throughout. It's 3" in diameter, does include all the hardware, and, of course, the secondary O2 bungs have already been pre-welded for you. Now this X-Pipe will bolt up to your factory manifolds or even after market shorty headers without issue, in addition to being able to be used with any after market Catback system or even your factory over axle pipes. As for the install, well keep in mind you most of your work, of course, will be done underneath a car here with the exception of the passenger side bolt which will need to be accessed from the engine base. So just make sure you have a couple of long extensions ready to go to crack those bolts. Either way, figure about a couple of hours start to finish, just to give you an idea of what to expect. So if you guys are in the market for an affordable Off Road X-Pipe for your 2011 to 2014 Coyote powered GT, be sure and check out the Pypes Off Road X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com

Improves Exhaust Flow. Remove those power robbing factory catalytic converters and release hidden power with a Pypes Off-road X-Pipe. This Pypes off-road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-Pipe by merging the exiting exhaust pulses at the "X" which results in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes X-Pipe for the 2011-2014 GT Mustang's not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Quality Construction. Pypes constructs their Mid Pipes from 3" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent 16 gauge 304 stainless steel tubing, that features a merged X crossover to increase exhaust flow for a significant improvement in power and sound.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2011-2014 5.0L V8 GT Mustangs with either aftermarket shorty headers or the factory manifolds installed. Intended for off-road track use only.

If I install this Pypes Off road X pipe, will it fit with the stock headers? Also, once Off road X pipe is installed, will I need to change the rest of the back end pipes to fit my Roush axle backs?

    Jmarin22

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe will bolt up directly to stock headers or off road shorty headers. Your OEM over axle pipes will still connect to this x pipe and your Roush Axleback exhaust.

Would this off road x pipe fit my 2012 5.0 Mustang

    Guadalupe

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe will fit your 2012 5.0 without any issues. Please note this is for aftermarket shorty headers or stock manifolds, and will not fit long tubes. Also being off-road, it is highly recommended to get a tune.

Is it completely safe for my car to run these without a tune?

    Johnny197

    • Doing an off-road mid-pipe will require you to run a tune on your car. Without running a tune this may cause damage to your car.

My engine light went on after installing this x pipe is that normal ?? Can I turn it off or fix it

    JesseD

    • This Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, like all catless mid-pipes will cause a check engine light since the vehicle is no longer operating with catalytic converters. We would highly recommend a custom tune or a tuner that comes with custom tunes such as the Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner, item 101200G11, to disable the light. https://www.americanmuscle.com/x4-custom-tuner-2011gt.html

Will it pass smog in California?

    Felipe

    • This will not pass smog in California and would not be street legal in any state due to the catalytic converters being deleted with the installation of this x-pipe.

      Worth the money

I took it to a shop to get it installed and this x pipe paired with my flowmaster outlaw axle backs makes the ground shake when you get on it. You can really feel the boost in high end torque.

Sell your stereo! You won't use it after you buy this

I wanted an aggressive tone for my 2011 Mustang RS2. The Roush axle-back exhaust sounded great but I wanted a little more roar and punch off the line. The Pypes X-Pipe mid exhaust system was exactly what I needed. Paired with long tube headers the sound is unmistakable. The raspy note tells other drivers that this is not just an ordinary pony car. A Bama tune update helped keep mileage about the same while increasing HP. I haven't Dyno'd it yet but the increased pedal response alone makes me believe the gain claims. I don't own a lift in my garage so I had the system professionally installed. The hardest part the mechanic claimed was removing the rusted original hangers and bolts. There was no way of reusing them. Keep that in mind if you are going to try a weekend garage swap. He had to zig saw the original bolts out. All in all, very happy with the purchase. At first I was a little worried the loud exhaust would be too much, but now I have learned to turn off the radio and enjoy the roar.

      just an okay brand

I was really happy with the price but fitment is just okay. Hangs a little low, which doesn't help that my 5.0 is on coils with a finger gap between the wheel and fender, but is still drivable. Not bad considering the price but I would suggest spending the money on a higher quality brand and part. Sound is awesome though

      1st mod on my gt

I bought the x pipe and the sct tunner with the ghost cam tune. My car is stock other than that and it sounds like I have the roush axel back. Love the raspy note that the x pipe gives and the lope from the tune. It also picked up a bit of power that you can feel and the power comes in sooner thanks to the tune. This is a must have mod for a mustang.

Love it. It definitely made a huge difference in tone. It has that aggressive 5.0 sound paired with the GT 500 axelback. An its the cheapest of all the other options

      Offroad x pipe

This is something i have been considering purchasing for a long time and finally did. The product did take about two months to arrive so that is why i gave it four stars but when it finally arrived it was in perfect condition no dents or any other issues. I haven't installed it yet but i'm sure it will sound great.

      An Honest and Thorough Review

I will be 100 honest - I tried to install myself and the notorious passenger side cat. bolt was so rusted that it was impossible to break with my hand tools. I then took it to a shop for them to install, and the OEM cat. clamps are un-salvageable (luckily I had spares from my axleback install, otherwise they are 50$ each from Ford). Hard to believe Pypes wouldn't include new clamps. This pipe does not exactly fit perfectly and the guys had to eventually weld it into place to create a seal. Do yourself a favor and take it to a shop. 2/5 stars for fitment. Now once things were finally sealed into place, the real beauty of this thing hit me. It sounds like a Ferrari at anything over 4k RPM, and I'm dead serious. I installed an Airaid Race CAI and a BAMA tune the same day, so it most likely is a combination of all 3 upgrades. However, on my way home from the shop (before I installed the CAI/tune), I definitely noticed a difference in torque - and the way the engine was able to breathe. I am absolutely in LOVE with the higher pitched, raspy, purr that emanates from the throat of this X pipe. It literally sounds and feels like a different car. 5/5 for sound and performance gain. And finally, what I like most about this product is that even with the cats deleted (I still have my resonators), it isn't obnoxiously loud. Only on cold morning startups and when I punch it does it sound like a demon (again, dead serious). But once the engine is warm and at idle, this thing is hardly louder than stock. No drone on the highway whatsoever.

      poor mounting flanges

The right rear subframe bolts rub... the joint between the cat delete and X-Pipe would not seal and had to be welded. I have to pull the exhaust back out again because it leaks when the car is cold. I am VERY disappointed with the product and would not recommend it. I will be replacing this soon and putting my cats back in.

      Cheap and fits great

I was happy with the price, it fits very well and had no issues installing either. My only complaint is, it sounds very hollow almost like you always have an exhaust leak, rather annoying but wouldn't detour me from purchasing it again.

      perfect fit

I installed my x-pipe last night after installing a new clutch. the fit up was perfect, clamps and hardware were included(some reviews said they weren't included???) either pypes has improved their product and just started including clamps and hardware or some of these reviews are bogus. the pipes are tucked up as tight as they can be so I'm not sure why anyone would say they hang too low either. I assume someone just let the x-pipe hang and tightened the clamps. I snugged the clamps then pushed the x-pipe up into position before tightening the clamps. I'm glad I filtered out the negative reviews and purchased this product.

      Turns heads

Had it professionally installed and they had no issues. I can tell the performance gains. Especially at higher rpms the car pulls. The exhaust is definitely escaping faster. If you only have resonators with this part be prepared for the loudness that turns heads. Over all though I am thrilled with the product.

      Good Product Overall

This x pipe really made a difference in performance by removing the old restrictive cats. The install was a bit of a pain as Pypes does not include clamps. Ended up with a leak so decided just to weld it on instead. It also has this annoying hissing sound coming from the actual "X", thought it was another leak but thats jut how the pipe is. Other than that the X Pipe really woke up my car and its not as loud as everyone thinks. I have it paired with the Roush Axlebacks and i sounds amazing. If you want loud though, you have to also remove the resonators... which i just might do ;)

      Awesome

product shipped fast and was in perfect condition. The instructions say that it comes w new hardware? I did not receive new bolts and nuts for the downpipe to mani connection. Onto the install; I did this in my garage on jack stands. It took me 2hrs to get the pass side nuts loose on the cat (rounded the one under the car off) I finally got it lose and the rest of the job went well. I started at 6pm and finished at 1130pm when I uploaded my tune and cranked the car up it made me jump a little... It's loud!! And sounds mean as all heck. I'd recommend this x pipe to anyone and I am very pleased w my purchase

      Big Difference

I'am running jlt CAI, x4tuner, ford racing 3.73, bmr lower control arms, and this beautiful off road xpipe with pypes pype bombs. First off I had plenty of people that tried to tell me, oh this setup with the pype bombs is going to be way to loud, well guys I'am glad I did not listen. It's no where even close to being to loud IMO, sounds like a beast, just like I want it to. The sound it makes with the pype bomb are AMAZING! The added power the xpipe makes has changed my car completely! With this setup my car is putting down over 400 rwhp and is turned my car into a street monster! Bama sent me the tunes for this setup and guys they nailed it, they gave the power I was wanting, and the race tune for this setup is ridiculous, listen to me stop reading this and buy this xpipe already! Must have!!

Disappointed in the Pypes Off Road X pipe

The packaging of the product and condition were great when I received it. The installation instruction are also good and easy to understand. The is a simply product to install. I followed the instructions step by step. After all was said and done I could not get the cat delete down pipes to line up with x pipe. This ultimately created an exhaust leak on both sides of the car. I could visually see that the down pipes had been bent/welded incorrectly. I took it to a muffler shop and they confirmed my suspicions. One down pipe was pointing up while the other pointed into the middle of the car. The only solution was to have the two peices welded together. So plan on spending another $80 after purchase.
