Hey, what's up everybody? Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my quick breakdown and sound clips of the Pypes Off Road X-Pipe fitting your 2011 through 2014 Mustang GT. Switching out the mid-pipe on your Coyote powered S197 is a great way to pick up some decent power and can totally transform the way your exhaust sounds. Now, when picking the right mid-pipe for your application, you're going to encounter two different options, H or X-Pipe and Catted or Off Road. This particular mid-pipe I have with me here from Pypes is their Off Road X-Pipe configuration which does not have Catalytic Converters and therefore, will give you the biggest power gains. Now the X-Pipe configuration will also give you more top end gains and give your car an aggressive, raspy tone compared to an H-pipe which will typically give you that low end muscle car rumble. The X-Pipe is constructed using durable 304 grade stainless steel throughout. It's 3" in diameter, does include all the hardware, and, of course, the secondary O2 bungs have already been pre-welded for you. Now this X-Pipe will bolt up to your factory manifolds or even after market shorty headers without issue, in addition to being able to be used with any after market Catback system or even your factory over axle pipes. As for the install, well keep in mind you most of your work, of course, will be done underneath a car here with the exception of the passenger side bolt which will need to be accessed from the engine base. So just make sure you have a couple of long extensions ready to go to crack those bolts. Either way, figure about a couple of hours start to finish, just to give you an idea of what to expect. So if you guys are in the market for an affordable Off Road X-Pipe for your 2011 to 2014 Coyote powered GT, be sure and check out the Pypes Off Road X-Pipe here at AmericanMuscle.com

Improves Exhaust Flow. Remove those power robbing factory catalytic converters and release hidden power with a Pypes Off-road X-Pipe. This Pypes off-road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-Pipe by merging the exiting exhaust pulses at the "X" which results in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes X-Pipe for the 2011-2014 GT Mustang's not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Quality Construction. Pypes constructs their Mid Pipes from 3" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent 16 gauge 304 stainless steel tubing, that features a merged X crossover to increase exhaust flow for a significant improvement in power and sound.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2011-2014 5.0L V8 GT Mustangs with either aftermarket shorty headers or the factory manifolds installed. Intended for off-road track use only.

    5 Top Rated Questions

If I install this Pypes Off road X pipe, will it fit with the stock headers? Also, once Off road X pipe is installed, will I need to change the rest of the back end pipes to fit my Roush axle backs?

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe will bolt up directly to stock headers or off road shorty headers. Your OEM over axle pipes will still connect to this x pipe and your Roush Axleback exhaust.

If I get a tune and the check engine light is off can I pass pa emissions?

    • We would advise to reach out directly to wherever you have your local emissions performed as well as your tuner in order to confirm.

Does it require a tune or can you drive it with out it ?

    • Generally off-road x-pipes will require a tune as they delete the catalytic converters which will cause a check engine light to be thrown.

Can I install these with the pypes long tube headers?

    • This unfortunately will not work with long tube headers, as it is designed to work with either the stock manifolds or shorty headers. However, you can find the Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe (item number 20130) that will work with long tube headers here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-offroad-shorty-xpipe-1113gt.html

      Great sound!

I paired this xpipe with the Roush mufflers on my 2014 Roush Stage 3 and I could not be happier with the sound.

      Terrible fitment

Fitment is terrible for this product. The x pipe is too short too fit in the downpipe portion of the exhaust. Once you get one side the other won't go in far enough to seal. Then they giving you a dinky exhaust clamp that has no surface area to try to seal the two pipes. Why not just make the x pipe like 2-3 inches longer and save the customer the headache. Messed with it all afternoon and it still doesn't fit right. Probably going to have to go to an exhaust shop and weld that portion. Do yourself a favor and buy UPR / Pypes is junk. Also the packaging was horrible. All in all a terrible experience!!

      Sounds great!

Paired this with the Borla over axle tubes. Already have Roush axle backs. All I can say is LOUD! Perfect. Just what I wanted! Pair this with a tune that turns the rear o2 sensors off and if you’re looking to get noticed...this is it.

      Heavenly sounds

Install took a few days after the nuts connecting the factory midpipe stripped out which then required some cutting in tight places.. but now that everything is finally buttoned up it sounds phenomenal! Definitely recommend this product!! Sorry neighbors. First they thought the Borla ATAK was loud, so I hit em with open headers for a week and they really hated me, now that the x pipe is installed they think it’s quiet again hahaha.

      Not what I expected.

The product fit well. No leaks. Out on the road I experienced a noticeable loss of power in the low and mid-range. (Even with a BAMA tune and CAI) The exhaust note is shrill and high pitched. So if you want to annoy everyone around you, and live in the 5 to 6k RPM range this is the system for you. I took mine off.

      Pypes O/R X

I've always been an advocate fo rd H-pipes, but this X-pipe behind a Coyote is amazing!! I have stock manifolds, WITH resonators and a muffler delete. I get compliments all the time. I took mine to a shop for install. They did good, because no leaks. I recommend!!

I hope you like it loud. Because it will be a raspy beast if you add this to a Roush axle back. Its a simple straight forward install.

Nice kit looks well made packaged well comes with clamps but no bolts and you can't use the factory stuff ... Not fun when you take it apart at 10pm to find you can't complete it without buying bolts
