Competition Styling. This Scott Drake Billet Aluminum Hood Latch and Pin Kit features classic retro 60's styling that looks great on the any 2005 to 2009 Mustang. This is the same style latch kit used by early drag racers on their Mustangs, only now with a modern twist.

Extra Safety. A Hood Latch and Pin Kit not only looks great, but also adds extra safety to any high performance Mustang. The Scott Drake Hood Latch and Pin Kit securely pins the hood safely to the car to prevent the hood from lifting or flying off at high speeds, a must for all drag racers.

Won't Harm Paint. These Scott Drake Hood Pins look great, keep your hood securely in place and won’t harm your paint. Scott Drake has gone the extra mile to coat the included lanyards in a flexible plastic to protect your hood's paint from any unnecessary scratches.

Solid Construction. Made from durable 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the hood pin bezels are precision machined and brushed before being completed in a clear anodized finish. The pins themselves are constructed from steel for superior strength. The Hood Bezels have a 2-1/2" diameter. The Hood Pins are 3-1/2" tall from the end of bolt to the pin opening and have 2-1/4" of thread.

Straight Forward Installation. Seeing that this a true functional Hood Pin Kit, drilling into your Mustangs hood will be required for installation. Even though drilling is required, installing these Hood Pins is straight forward and can be completed in under two hours’ time. Templates and hardware are included.

Application. This Scott Drake Billet Aluminum Hood Latch and Pin kit is specifically designed to be used on the 2005-2009 Mustangs equipped with the original stock hood or an aftermarket fiberglass hood.

Do you sell these in black besides the Shelby ones? I do not want to put something with Shelby on my GT/CS. I saw the appearance ones, but would like the real deal. Thanks,

Tipper

  • Unfortunately if you want black hood pins from us they are either going to be the Shelby ones or the appearance kit.

    Looks Good and Functional

Install took a little longer than I expected, but it was not too bad. Getting the angle right to go through both layers of the hood was a little tricky. I had to use my angle grinder to adjust the hole a little on the top side, but they look good and work well. I also had mine Cerakoted black to match the accents on my car. Looks cool!

    billet hood pins

This product really dressed up my 06 Mustang GT. A little tricky to install because the mounting plates placed the holes in the hood ended up on a non flat surface. Just take your time, don't get in a hurry and end product looks amazing.

    Much Safer

My hood always flapped slightly above 95 or so, I guess it's justbecause of how it lips over, instead of sealing into the bumper like the newer 'stangs. So I bought these and put them on. Since, I've had not a single tremor through the body as the hood shakes, even when maxing the speedo out. And installing them wasn't too bad, other than being nervous about drilling through the layered aluminum hood. So I can easily recommend this product. Now to only catch the fool that keeps popping the pins out at work..

    Challenge- but worth it.

The hardest part of this install is aligning the pins to and measuring them to the right height-- at the same time. Every time you adjust the height, the alignment of the pin in relation to the hole in the hood is changed. It takes patience. The most nerve racking part is drilling the holes in the hood-- a step drill is best after a pilot hole. The hardware is quality. The pins look great and having been to the track before and after the install, they do a great job of keeping the hood down snug at high speed. I definitely recommend this product- both for looks and the practical improvement to a lighter weight hood.

    Fantastic

Fast shipping and no issues what so ever. Opened the package and everything was there. I watched the YouTube video a few times since this was my first time installing hood pins and already knew what I needed and how to do it. Looked at the instructions after I was finished to get the template to cut my rad cover and that was very simple as well. Only took me about a hr to hr and a half to install.

    Retro muscle car look

To do it right it takes two to three hours to install properly. The hardest part of the job was growing a pair big enough to drill holes into my perfectly good hood!

    Aluminum Hood Pins

I have to say that I really like these hood pins. They were very easy to install, took a total of about 1 hr 15 min.I could not believe how different they made the front of my mustang look. The only reason that I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I think the cables are a litttle too long. I changed my frontend so it looks like a GT.Thanks for reading. Gary

    Great look and easy installation!

Great quality and real simple to install. Recommend having a person with experience on the drilling part because it's a one shot deal!! Other then that I love them, they look amazing and got that extra security to make sure my expensive cowl hood stays in place!

Replacing fake pins with real ones now that I got my new hood

I had the new 4 inch cow Cervini hood installed. I had them take the fake pins and put them on the new hood until I could get the real ones installed. I have already mounted the hardware under the hood. I have my body shop doing the holes in the hood next week. I didn't feel comfortable drilling holes in a $1000 hood. I did everything up to that for them. I am sure they will look great. The only thing I didn't like was having to make the holes in the radiator cover. The templates don't tell you where and how to lay it. It took some common sense and some checking to make sure I put them in the right spot. I was very close. My holes are a little larger than I planned. They look fine. I recommend you do a small hole and then put it on and make sure you are lined up right and the hole is not to large and centered. I made a copy of the template on my printer incase I screwed up. Thanks AM!

looks super bad, which is good

pretty simple install for the most part. I drilled the first hole through the hood, then did some measuring on the other side to make sure it was exactly the same as the first hole. Looks REALLY awesome.

    It looks awesome

I had to do a small little mod to the install cause I did not wanted it on the same spot that they were meant to be. But overall it is a good quality product, the package was all messed up when I opened it, but all the parts where the so no biggy.

Dont be afraid, drill those holes!

I wasn't sure if I could bring myself to drill holes in my perfectly good hood but I'm glad I did! These Scott Drake Billet Aluminum Hood Pins look awesome and its a pretty straight forward install. The hood pins are high quality and the added safety factor of keeping the hood locked down while blasting down the highway makes it easy to recommend this upgrade!

    Fitment Issues

This will not fit the GT500 aftermarket hood on any 05-09 due to the pins going straight through the vents. I went to shelby and ordered the 07-09 hood pin install kit and it worked like a charm.

    Necessary Hood Pins

I purchased the Billet Aluminum Hood Pin Kit from AM. Recently on two different occasions, the hood on my '08 GT popped up while racing. I had the Faux appearance hood pins on the car, but realized I needed the real thing. Typical AM fast delivery. I took them to my body shop and they put them on in about 2 hours. They look great. They are quite effective in locking down the hood. I would recommend these pins for racers or car show cars.

install went fine except for the cut out you have to make on the radiator cover---still struggling with the position of the cut outs as they just don't seem to be placed in the right position
