SPEC Billet Aluminum Flywheels are machined to a .001 tolerance (other brands are only made to .01) and designed and weighted for the perfect balance and surface to complement your new clutch.

    Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

    SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

    Application. This Spec Flywheel is designed for 1986 to 1995 Mustangs with the 5.0 engine and 1993-1995 Cobras.

    Technical Note. If you are replacing a Flywheel on a stock application, it would be best to use a 50 ounce flywheel. If the Flywheel will be used on a modified/bored and stroked application a 28 ounce would be ideal. If you are having your engine rebuilt and are unsure what Flywheel to get, please contact your engine builder to confirm which Flywheel is necessary for your application as you have to match the engine's Harmonic Balancer weight with the Flywheel.

      Billet Aluminum Flywheel

      The install went like any other. When everything was together and it was test drive time, I got an unnerving rattling noise which I didn't realize was normal when changing to an aluminum flywheel. I'd like to see American Muscle make a note with this purchase that gear rattle is normal when switching to a lighter flywheel. It may have saved me from taking the whole thing apart to see that nothing was wrong.

      Wakes up your fox

      It was a little tricky at first getting used to it but wow. The throttle response is much faster and makes rev matching much better.

      Waiting on break-in period

      This Spec Aluminum Flywheel for my 92' Mustang is a beauty in craftsmanship. The arrival was prestine. Installation took roughly 4 hours and went smooth. No problems whatsoever. Inmediately cranked my stang and right away notice the gas pedal having a feather light feel to it. Did a quick rev on the rpm up to 3000rpm in neutral and right away noticed the diffrence from the stock flywheel i had. Revved much faster. Avoided the urge to punch it into 1st and let go to make sure i followed the instructions to the point, as you must first allow the clutch and flywheel their break-in period of 500 miles before you can go at it. Happy to report that on iddle and all the 40 miles easy driving on it so far there aren't any chattering noises coming from the flywheel. Some forums reported chatter noise being common with aluminum flywheels in general but this one has none that i could tell, not inside nor outside the car. Also the feather-like feel on the Rpms are not difficult to handle when shifting and makes the engine sound more aggressive giving it a race car feel which is awesome. No problems at all shifting or with stalling. Very satisfied with the product and i still haven't even experienced the diffrence it will make in acceleration, still got 460 miles to go to break it in properly before i give it a go but is all good so far, patience will pay off. Will have to come back and report after a full review once the break-in period is completed to give it a full on adrenaline result.

      WOW JUST WOW!!! (it fit my v6 mustang)

      This is one beautiful part the amount of power gain u can get out of this unbelievable! I do not have a 5.0L V8 mustang but this worked perfectly with my costum tranny build for my Turbocharged 3.8L V6 Mustang and i had to get this because who would of known that it would bolt right up and it did thank god because with the flywheel thats mad for my car was about 1.5" to big and i can't bolt up my 5.0 quick time pro bellhousing to my v6 and that worked too lol but now im very happy and with my 9 puk clutch and a 3400lbs pressure plate i should not have no problem putting all my power down through my built TR3650 from g-force! ((550HP and 620TQ @ 17PSI ON E-85))

      Spec Aluminum Flywheel

      I bought this flywheel for my 95 GT and it was a perfect fit. I must say I could tell a difference from the old iron one. It's well worth the buy while building your car for performance.
