      • Ideal Upgrade for Boosted Mustangs
      • Good Driveability
      • Kevlar Based Disc
      • Includes Throwout Bearing & Tool
      • Fits 1986-Mid 2001 GT and 1993-1998 Cobra

Ideal Upgrade. If you are planning on a forced induction setup or already have one in your GT or Cobra, it will only take a few launches before you'll roast your stock clutch. Or maybe you're just tired of the slow shifts, and have decided it's time for a better one. A SPEC Stage 2 Clutch will handle up to 520 ft-lbs of torque without the "on-off" feel of true race clutches, blending driveability and the ability to hold lots of power perfectly. Perfect for Weekend Warriors. The SPEC Stage 2 Clutches are designed for all mild to moderately modified naturally aspirated and power added engines, but can be used with stock power levels without sacrificing driveability or excessive wear characteristics. They are the perfect balance of driveability and durability that makes them a great choice for Mustangs that see a lot of time on the street as well as the strip and track. Premium Quality. The SPEC Stage 2 Clutch combines superior holding power with the driveability you want by using premium materials. Each Stage 2 Clutch includes a high clamp pressure plate, pure Kevlar friction material and high torque sprung hub and disc assembly. Like with all SPEC Clutches, an alignment tool is included for easy installation. Value, Performance, Durability. When looking for a new clutch, trust Spec for the best in value and performance. Application. This SPEC Stage 2 Clutch kit is designed for the 1986-1995 5.0L, 1993-1998 Cobra, and 1996-2001 GT with the T-5 or T-45 transmission. Specifications:
      • Fits: 1986-1995 5.0L with a T-5 or T-45
      • Fits: 1993-1998 Cobra with a T-5 or T-45
      • Fits: 1996-2001 GT with a T-5 or T-45
      • Disc Dimensions: 10-1/2" X 10T X 1-1/16"
      • 10 Spline
      • Torque Rating: 567 ft./lbs.
This Spec Clutch requires the use of a Spec flywheel for proper engagement. AmericanMuscle highly recommends the Aluminum Flywheel for this Stage 2 Clutch for optimum results. See the drop down menu option above.

Technical Note. Because Ford made changes to the Mustang GT and Bullitt in mid year of 2001, be sure to check and see what kind of transmission type you have before ordering.

        4 1998 Cobra - Jtg25 Installation Time: Weekend

        Stage 2 cobra clutch

I am very happy with the kit provided by spec and AM, the clutch has a slightly more firm pedal than stock and smooth shifts after the break in. One thing I've noticed is slight slippage when shifting under high RPM's at times. Its not a noticable slip to make the RPM's spike but a small cherp noise when re-engaged. For a performance clutch it does very well on the street and can withstand some more riggerous driving.

This is the first time I used a spec stage 2 clutch as well as a spec aluminum flywheel and I am amazed on the huge difference it made on the gears and I love the way rides I also purchased a steeda adjustable clutch cable and a dual hook quadrant

        Extremely happy with my purchase

I bought this clutch for my 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra. It was a perfect fit no problems at the shop. If you need a good shop to put it in take it to Best Western Transmission

5 1996 Cobra - DariusS Installation Time: Afternoon

        Grabby at first then normal

Make sure you break it in properly don't drive like you stole it until its broke in. Everyone tells me it's a little heavy but I guess I'm just used to it. My car is stock 100 except this clutch so it's got great bite.

1 1995 GT - Damien Installation Time: Afternoon

        Clatter city

This clutch does grip really strong and is great for racing only purposes, But absolutely terrible for a daily driver!! Almost 2000 miles and still shakes so bad I am afraid something is going to break.

1 1997 Cobra - PhillipW Installation Time: Full Day

Dont get bit!! Poor customer service!!

I purchased and had the kit and flywheel installed. I had completed the 450 mile break in period and still had chatter and bad vibrations. I replaced with my old OEM clutch and zero problems with it. DO NOT expect anything from SPEC. No reparations for any costs involved in the defective product, not even the cost to send the kit back! This company is not worth the risk of a loss of a lot of money!!!

5 1995 GT - TimT Installation Time: Full Day

Everybody told me this clutch would be obnoxious and hardly driveable but honestly other than being left leg day everyday, it's a pretty good upgrade.
