    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here, and this is my general overview of McLeod’s Street Pro clutch, available for all 86-2010 Mustang GTs. Before I really start breaking down this clutch I just want to remind you guys to subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t done so already simply by clicking on the banner below, or on the AM logo up in the corner at any point during this video. McLeod’s been around for over 40 years and are no strangers to the Mustang world, in fact they’ve designed clutches and drive line products for both Roush and Saleen, and even supplied flywheels for the Cobra R and 03 and 04 terminator Cobras. The Street Pro was designed to be a factory replacement or a stage 1 equivalent, holding roughly 350-400 horsepower, and 450-500 ft/lbs of torque depending on your application. If you would like to step it up a little bit McLeod does offer a Super Street Pro clutch, which of course will offer a little bit more power and torque. Either way if you’re not sure what clutch would be best for your setup, don’t be afraid to get in touch with one of our Mustang experts. The street pro features an organic based sprung hub disc, along with their signature red pressure plate, which together will give you a pedal strength slightly heavier than stock, with better clamping load, and holding capabilities. The clutch also includes a new pilot bearing and alignment tool, which will be needed for the install. McLeod’s street pro clutch is offered with a standard 10 spline option which is something a majority of Mustang owners with stock transmission will use, however if you’ve upgraded your input shaft in your transmission, you’ll be happy to know that McLeod does offer the street pro clutch in a 26 spline option, which is something other clutch manufacturers don’t always offer. As for the install, well we typically call any clutch job about 4 hours from start to finish. If you’ve never dropped a transmission before we definitely recommend getting this one done by your local shop, however if this is just another day in the garage for you, leave yourself a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the garage to get the job done. This clutch is just one of the many McLeod options we carry here at AmericanMuscle.com so if you’d like to check out more of their clutch and flywheel lineup, including some of their twin disc stuff, all you have to do is simply click the link below to head back to the product page, if you’re not there already. The Street Pro clutch from McLeod would make a great factory replacement or stage 1 upgrade for those of you with stock or lightly modified Mustangs, and don’t forget you can find yours right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Ideal Upgrade Replacement. If you drive your Mustang hard, it's easy to burn out the weak factory clutch. Capable of holding up to 350hp McLeod's Street Pro Clutch is the ideal upgrade replacement for daily driven high performance Mustangs that need a good reliable everyday clutch.

Organic Disc. Featuring an organic faced friction disc; this McLeod Street Pro Clutch provides a slightly heavier pedal effort than stock along with good holding capability making it an excellent factory replacement clutch.

Application. This McLeod Street Pro Clutch is designed for the 1986-1995 5.0L, the 1993-1998 SVT Cobra, and the 1996-Early 2001 GT with the T-5, or T-45 manual 10-spline transmission.

    Specifications:
    • Disc Dimensions: 10.5" X 10T X 1-1/16"
    • 10 Spline
    • Horse Power Rating: Up to 350
    • Torque Rating: Up to 450
    • Includes: pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing and pilot tool

Technical Note. Because Ford made changes to the Mustang GT and Bullitt in mid year of 2001, be sure to check and see what kind of transmission type you have before ordering.

    2 Top Rated Questions

Would you recommend buying the ford performance throw out bearing instead of the one that comes with this kit?

    • We recommend using the throwout bearing included in this McLeod Street Pro Clutch kit.

Pilot bearing? Does this kit come with the Pilot bearing? And is the throw out Bearing Hydraulic, meaning does it come with the "slave" for it?

    • It does come with a pilot bearing. As far as I know mustangs did not get hydraulic throw out bearings until the S197 chassis.

      Cammed 2v

The clutch hooks good even with 4.56s in the rear. No disappointments there! It's extremely quiet with no chatter! I would have gave it a 5* but the pedal is just to "soft" for my liking. But hey to each there own. I did buy the Ford Racing throw out and pilot bearing. You can never go wrong with those 2! Overall no real complaints and I'm satisfied with my purchase. Would recommend for any N/A build

      Good Clutch for bolt ons

I installed this clutch at 70k and resurfaced my oem flywheel. After install was very shaky on take off, but smoothed out over the break in period. Now it's broken in, grabs hard, and the pedal feel is not too hard by any means.

      Good, I guess

First replacement clutch I have had on this car. I paired it with the McLeod Lightened Steel Flywheel as well as I had the dealership do both at the same time. They took 51/2 hours for the whole job. Note **** pilot bearing is not included and mine was shot so they did that for me too. I don't have much experience in the clutch replacement to be able to provide much as a point of reference, but since Ford don't make a true OEM replacement clutch an AM expert recommended this one for me. Like always fast delivery to my door and pricing was slightly more than the one the Ford dealership recommended, but I feel like I got a much better clutch and Flywheel too. Hoping both will perform and last like I expect.

      Clutch

Installed this along with a fidanza aluminum flywheel, new pilot bearing, McLeod clutch fork and bearing retainer sleeve. Ended up with a super smooth engagement and release! Really happy, no chatter or slipping with mild bolt ons on my 98 cobra. Highly recommend using royal purple synchromesh, really helped with the t-45 notchyness, since your going to be draining the trans anyways.

      I like this clutch

I bought this clutch because they were out of the Exedy Stage 2 clutch and I'm glad I did. The guy recommended that I buy the Ford Racing Throw-out Bearing instead of using the one that comes with the kit, so I would just say that they should just swap the bearing out of the kit with the Ford Racing one for less hassle for customers. Thanks

      Weekend Fix

The clutch works great and clutch effort was improved over my previous clutch. There is some shudder from take off but McLeod says it should go away after break in. Besides the shudder during break in, this clutch is perfect for a daily driver.
