This clutch is rated to 680 ft-lbs of torque so it'll put those ponies to the pavement - where they belong - so you can roast some tread instead.

A Stage 3 is designed to handle all the power you're putting down with the kind of quick engagement you need to win. Combining elements of a race clutch with a street clutch means a Stage 3 will hold up to many passes on the strip while still allowing you to let your high performance Pony stretch its legs on the street.

The Stage 3 Clutch includes the high clamp pressure plate, the 6 puck friction disc, a new throwout and pilot bearing and an alignment tool.

    I have a 96 Mustang and it says it can only fit 96mid, how do I know if it’s 96mid?

    • This Spec Stage 3 Clutch is designed to fit a 1996 to mid-year production 2001 GT with a T-5 or T-45. This clutch will fit all 1996 GT's up to Mustangs produced in the middle of the year of 2001 (or a production date of 6/2001).

    flywheel why steel? and not aluminum?

    • Both steel and aluminum will be a great material for a flywheel. Aluminum will be more orientated for racing. However if you are not racing steel will work out just great. With steel you will also be able to resurface this unlike the aluminum.

    stock flywheel can i resurface my stock flywheel and just use that its a lot cheaper a shop in town will do it for 80$? or do i have to drop over 300 on a "spec" flywheel? thanks

    • This Spec Clutch requires the use of the Spec Flywheel for proper engagement. Spec has precise tolerances to ensure that their clutches and flywheels perform flawless clutch engagement. Using a Spec clutch with a resurfaced stock flywheel can result in premature clutch failure due to the clearances issues. So in the long run, it will be worth the extra cash to match your new clutch with the proper flywheel the first go around so you don't have to be replacing both again in a short time due to reusing the stock flywheel.       Great clutch

      The clutch was great it gripps hard it's holding 500 ish tqr at the well I would recommend for the price .....the clutch is stiff your going to have strong legs after driving

      Awesome clutch BUT...

      ive had this clutch for a minute now, and it's nice but I would highly recommend upgrading the quadrant, get a Lakewood HD clutch fork, and the best throw out bearing you can get. It may just be random luck but with my experience this clutch has torn up all the factory components (including the clutch pedal itself!) and now I'm having to do a complete overhaul on the clutch system.

      Spec clutch

      the install was very easy with no problems at all. I installed a ford racing clutch cable along with this clutch and I couldn't ask for better performance. Pulls awesome and the clutch pedal is real easy little force to push pedal down. Awesome all around.

      This clutch is PERFECT, stage 4 would not be drivable in my opinion. Stage 3 is just perfect you get the performance of a drag car but also the every day easy driver feel. Yes it's a little stiffer then stock but it's worth it. Spec stage 3 clutch with spec light weight aluminum flywheel = Perfect set up. Do it while you're under there. Easy install

      Good Clutch 96 Cobra

      My clutch is way lighter to push. It is about a quarter of the stock pressure. I am still in the break-in phase. When it was first installed, the engagement would shake the car a little. The engagement is getting smoother and it does engage quickly. So far I am happy. I used FRPP bearings for the clutch. Good decision.

      Amazing clutch!

      I bought this clutch kit because like most of us looking for clutches, the clutch went out. I installed it all myself (with help from a few friends) and managed to do it in 2 days with a total of maybe 10 hours. This clutch grips like crazy! im still in the process of the 500mile break in period (with 400 to go) but i know when that odometer says 500miles, i will be able to punch that throttle and every single pony in my pony will reach those tires with out slippage! Great product for the cost. I would suggest getting the billet alum flywheel with this too because when i pulled the old clutch off (which was a stage 1 spec) the guy had put an alum flywheel on too and it was so easy to replace just the friction plate. cost me about $420 for the whole install. Thanks AM! you guys rock!

      Great product....

      I highly reccomend the flywheel to go with it...first trip down the highway it had a slight vibration but now that it's broke in it doesn't and performs flawlessly and with aggression. Deffinately a must have for any performance minded car and owner! Shipping was quick and on time. Thanks!

      Spec Stage 3 is PERFECT!

      Ive had this clutch on for a little while now and it is probably the best clutch ive ever bought. With 500hp i shredded my last clutch. But this one is soo durable and grips like you wouldnt believe. It handles my power with ease. Never slips or anything. Thanks AM you guys are AWESOME!

      Holds like none other

      Replaced my stage 1 with this stage 3 and spec aluminum flywheel and it holds like none other... pretty stiff pedal but you get used to it, nothing to write home about... my car is a daily and some people say its too much but i dont think so...

      Spec Stage 3 is awesome!

      I installed this clutch about 2000 miles ago and couldn't be happier. Only chatters in reverse too! Recommend getting the billet steel flywheel with this one. Has tons of grip. Love how it engages so quickly too!

      I bought this for my 2000 GT. HOLY COW! About gave me whiplash when I slam into the gears. AMAZING how much difference it makes over stock. but its like pushing over a Cow so prepare to build those leg muscles!
