Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here. In this video, I'm gonna be breaking down the SR Performance Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit, available for your 94 to 04 Mustang GT, V6, and Mach1, and all 94 to 98 Mustang Cobras. This is another great option from SR Performance that will ultimately help your ride perform better, but without you having to empty your wallet in the process. In fact, this is the most affordable set of sway bars for your SN95 here on the site, and they're still gonna offer all the same performance benefits as some of the more expensive options. The stock sway bars these SR options are gonna replace on your 94 to 04 Mustang are really all over the place when it comes to overall diameter, but they do have one thing in common. They can all be upgraded. Now I've always said if there's ever one mod that would be instantly effective when it comes to handling and something you're truly gonna feel the moment you get behind the steering wheel, it's a set of aftermarket sway bars. So in terms of what you can expect when installing a set of aftermarket sway bars here, well, overall the car's gonna feel far more stable and basically suffer from far less body roll than before whenever you're doing some hard cornering or hard maneuvering. And this is gonna help the car feel more composed overall. So know that you know what you can expect when installing a set of aftermarket sway bars, let's break down the SR kit a little further, starting with the front bar here, which is the larger of the two bars. Now, this bar is gonna be 35 millimeters in diameter. and it's hollow or tubular, which is nice because it's gonna save a lot of weight up front of the car compared to a heavier solid bar. But it's still gonna offer all the same performance and stiffness characteristics of that heavier solid bar. The rear bar, on the other hand, is 24 millimeters in diameter, and it's going to be a solid bar. Now with both of these sway bars working together, you're gonna help eliminate the understeering characteristics of your SN95. You know that feeling where it just wants to plow through the turns. Instead, the car should help rotate through the turns much better, and again still feel very balanced overall. The sway bars from SR Performance are cold-formed from high-quality aircraft grade steel before being finished off in this attractive black powder coat, which is just gonna help resist any corrosion, to help look good under the car for years to come. In addition to the bars themselves, SR does include brand new M links here, along with new polyurethane bushings to help replace some of that worn out stuff on your stocker, in addition to all the hardware needed for the installation. Speaking of getting dirty, we're gonna call this a two out of three on the wrench chart here in terms of overall difficulty, because obviously there is some work going on underneath the car. In addition, some of you guys out there will be dealing with 20-year-old bolts that may be a little rusty. Overall, the job really isn't all that difficult. Of course, a lift will make life a whole lot easier, but either way figure a couple of hours from start to finish to get both bars installed. Again. guys, if you're not satisfied with what I'm telling you in these videos and you want more info, well then I encourage you to pick the brain of one of our highly trained Mustang experts. You can reach out anytime here at AM. So if you're looking for quite possibly one of the best bang for your buck handling mods you can do for your SN95, then be sure to check out the SR Performance Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Handling. Improve the handling performance of your SN95/New Edge Mustang with a SR Performance Sway Bar Kit. Sway Bars, sometimes referred to as Anti Roll Kits, reduce body roll through increased design stiffness over the factory bars. The result is superior handling, flatter cornering and better stability in any driving situation.

Superior Quality and Materials. SR Performance manufactures their Sway Bars from cold-formed, high-strength aircraft-grade steel for precision performance, and completes them in a black powder coat finish for great looks and long life. The front bar is a 35mm diameter tubular design, where the rear bar is 24mm diameter solid design.

Application. This SR Performance Sway Bar Kit is designed for use on the 1994 to 2004 coupe and convertible Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and 1994-1998 SVT Cobra models. Does not fit 1999-2004 IRS equipped SVT Cobra.

How does this kit compare with the $340 Eibach Kit that is red? Other than color of course.

o4vintage

  • It is pretty much the same kit. They both use the same diameter bars and same type of bushings. I have this kit on my car now and have not had any issues with it. Even after getting in a head on collision, still in perfect working condition.

    Great "under the radar" buy!!

I've been looking at upgrading from the stock sway bars for a while now, but i couldn't find the front+rear set of Steeda's for a decent price, nor did i want those off-red Eibach's... I saw these the first week they were introduced onto the AM website and loved them right off the bat. They're the same size as the Eibach's, but they're black, so no sticking out like a sore thumb, AND they're much more affordable! Installation was simple and straight forward. After installation I took the car up n down my local mountain road, and WOW what a difference!! I had already done upper+lower rear control armsand Ford Racing B-Springs but was still having issues in the corners, as the front end just wouldn't hold, forcing me to over-steer on entry to whip the back end through the turn to keep my speed. But with the SR Performance sway bars I now have the front end grip I was looking for, it now handles like everyone assumes high performance cars do. (like in Forza/Gran Turismo) Yes, I can now take video game corners, haha! Excellent product/Price/install instructions. I highly recommend this kit over the competition.

Nice pieces for a fair price.

These sway bars look great. They are the same size as other popular brands but with a lower price. My only complaint is i couldn't get the front bar end links to work. They seem to be too short. I just used the original end links with the new link bushings. Worked fine and the change in handling is immediately noticeable.

    Sway bar install

The rear bar is super easy, four bolts - 2 on each side, take out old bar and reinstall new. Front bar is much more difficult as the space is more confined. Use a jack to support the middle of the old bar as you take out the bolts or the bar will hit you as it comes lose. Reinstall new bar and mount the d bushings first and tighten up. Then put the side links in, you will have to use a jack in the middle of the bar to have any hope of getting the lower nuts on the end links. Reuse your stock sway bar lower nut and washer or it will take forever to get the new nut on. The old one fits perfectly and will save a lot of time with the same results as the new nuts. Very pleased. These are Eibach units painted black, the hardware is in Eibach bags. Save some coin and go with these!

WOW, what a difference in my 2002 V6

Hello all, I ordered the performance sway bar kit to help with cornering. I have a 2002 V6 convertible and on Sundays I follow some friends around finding the roads that are not traveled much. I follow another Mustang GT convertible and a Corvette convertible. I noticed my mustang roll some in the corners, and after doing a lot of reading on this site, I found out the V6 does not even come with a rear sway bar! WHAT... so I got this kit after reading some of the reviews and its exactly correct what they say. the installation kit has everything you need... except.. the rear mounting bolts are TOO SHORT. you will need to get some longer bolts. be sure to get grade 8 bolts, nuts, lock washers. other then that, everything lined up and fit as advertised. the hardest thing was compressing the new end-links on the front sway bar. its a real pain, not enough hands to pull, hold in place, and get the nut started. it took 3 people to get it done. the entire job took a half day (that included getting new bolts). I would recommend spraying all the original nuts with penetrating oil a day before starting, this really makes the job much easier. the results, OMG!!! the car does not even think about swaying at all.. I am super impressed how much of a difference they made. I may not be able to keep up with the V8's however the corners are not slowing me down like before.

    SR Performance sway bars

Very nice finish on the sway bars and appearance wise looks like high quality. Installation was easy. The front sway bars could not use the supplied bolts as they were too short. Had to use the original bolts. Rear sway bars were a little trickier to install. One item that I found on the rear sway bars was if you have 2.5" tailpipes that the rear sway bar comes very close to the tailpipes and will hit it under normal suspension travel. You will need to readjust the tailpipes to enable proper clearance- but will still be tight.

Pair these with the BBK upper and lower control arm kit and full length subframe connectors and she rides on rails! I also have the strut tower bar and steeda rear shock bar. So wherever I point, she goes! Great for those who like to cruise the back roads or wanna tackle the Tail of the Dragon.

    Amazing quality!!!

I can't describe how solid these feel in comparison to the stock cappy stuff. The quality is obvious. Like others have stated, these are completely identical to the eibach setup, so you are essentially paying extra for eibachs branding for more. I have these paired with steeda x2 ball joints, steeda bump steer, steeda k member brace, sr coilovers, sr caster camber plates, stiffler front strut bar, steeda rear strut bar, steeda subfloor connectors, steeda differential bushings, steeda solid upper rear control arms and steeda aluminum 4500 series rear lower control arms. So my ride may vary from other people.

    Big difference

These bars make a huge difference, for me i felt it more in the front end. When mine arrived they were missing the front hardware package but AM took care of that with one phone call.Highly recommended. Same complaints as pretty much everybody else, rear bolts too short and front links should have been about an inch longer.

    Paired with SR Coilovers!

Perfect to pair with the SR coilover kit, I have had a major change in my handling response and I love! these sway bars. MUST HAVE if getting the Coil Over kit. Easy EASY install! OEM parts that are a little weathered can take some time to properly pull down but after that is done the sway bar itself is very easy to install. The time is marked less than a hour due to the direct OEM sway bars being removed and these being installed. Not the work involved to get to that point.

    Great Performance.

Had these installed on a bone stock 98 GT. Did everything I wanted and for a fair price. These cars stock handle pretty bad but are easily fixed. I would recommend these to anyone. The car was easier to handle and felt more stiff. It was $220 for shop install, it was a tight fit.

    Very satisfied

I have a 2004 convertible GT that is mostly stock and is my daily driver. I want to keep the car as a good comfortable daily driver but make it more sporty and fun at the same time. The modification was perfect for me for several reasons. It definitely helps with keeping the car level through the turns. It does not affect how rough the ride would be if I had lowered the car or put tighter shocks on though. Steering response is more crisp now and the car feels like it pushes into corners less. The install was very straight forward. The product looks simple, black, but great. I don't think it would be worth it to put on the eibachs just to have red sway bars of the same dimensions and material. Thanks a lot American Muscle.

    Great improvement over stock

I was skeptical of the other reviews and how remarkable the difference would be. I was very pleased with the improvement in cornering... Much stiffer bar leads to way less body roll. I have an '02 GT conv. with Eibach lowering springs and staggered 18x9 and 18x10 (with 1 inch spacers) wheels... The sway bars really complement the wheel, tire and spring handling upgrades. The rear install was simple, but I did get longer grade 8 bolts as suggested by other reviewers. The front install was not very easy working on my own... another 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer bolts would have made this install a breeze, but other than that everything fits great!

I LOVE THESE SWAY BARS! THEY ARE THE SAME SPECS AS THE EIBACH BUT FOR WAY CHEAPER! THE FRONT BAR IS HUGE COMPARED TO THE STOCKER. INSTALLATION WAS PRETTY EASY. IT WOULD HAVE GONE FASTER HAD I REMOVED THE FRONT WHEELS BEFORE I TRIED TO REMOVE THE STOCK SWAY BAR. ALSO, I REUSED THE STOCK BOLTS WITH THE NEW BUSHINGS. IF YOU WANT THE SAME HANDLING AS EIBACH BUT FOR CHEAPER, GO WITH THESE FROM SR.

    SR Performance sway bars

A good quality product. The rear bar went on easy enough. However I did use the factory nut and bolt as the nut has a tab on it making it a lot easier to instsll. The front bar took a bit to get on as I was working on my own. As to the end links being short. I just jacked up the A-plates with a floor Jack untill I got enough room to start the nuts. Then torqued them to spec after I put the tires on and lowered it off the Jack stands. I gave them four stars because the end links could be a bit longer. My stang does hold the corners a lot better now. So it was worth the time to install them. Great for a budget minded build.
