Negotiate Turns.The Yukon Gear Grizzly Locker Rear Differential with 31 Spline 8.8 in. boosts your Mustang's mechanical locking differentials. Whether you put your Mustang to test on the street, off-road, or while drag racing, these patented Grizzly Lockers give you the power you need to disengage your tires during turns.

Adds Strength. The Locker Rear Differential features 8620 internals for added strength. It has been specially engineered to reduce common locker failures.

Application. This 8.8" Yukon Gear Grizzly Locker Rear Differential will fit solid axle suspensions equipped V8 Mustangs from 1986 to 2014 as well as 2011 to 2014 V6 Mustangs. Requires use of 31 spline axles. (Will not fit the 1999-2004 Cobra and 2013-2014 GT500).

Application Note. 1986-2004 V8 Mustangs came factory equipped with 28 spline axles. All 2005 and newer V8 Mustangs come equipped with 31 spline axles.

Technical Note. You will need to reuse your factory 8.8” gear set, or upgrade to a set of our 8.8" rear gears required for this Limited Slip Differential. No aftermarket gears are included. For normal driving conditions we recommend you use 75W 90 rear gear oil. This will give you the same oil weight as factory. For colder temps or race use try 75w 140.

Why does this not work in cobras

  • This part will not work in 1999-2004 Cobras because those vehicles are equipped with IRS. This is for a solid 8.8" rear end.

Will this unit work in a 8.8 from an explorer...and is it as noisy as a Detroit locker?

    Finally a Good locker

    If you want a Good Locker this is the one.Much better then the Eaton unit no clutches to wear out Both Rear wheels pull 100 percent on straight runs Drag races will like this unit.It does make a clicking noise on turns But it is a Ratchet type Rear so just have to get use to it. I would use this Locker in all types of Racing.

    Helpful for more power

    Took some time to install but it was worth it for the perfomance and giving my mustang more power in the rear wheels and give me a boost in my 1/4 mile and a bit pricey but worth it

    Can't go wrong! Great quality

    I had my rear axle rebuilt, with 31spline, 373 gears all new bearings and this new Yukon differential. The most controlled burnout or drifts ever, this differential has a mind of its own and it controls the rear tires so much more! Power for days. Perfect burn out and amazing control!
