2022 Dodge Charger
The 2022 Dodge Charger continues on the roots of the previous year, without too many changes. The 3.6L V6 Pentastar, rated at 300 horsepower, continues to be the base engine for SXT/GT models. From there, a slew of V8 engines are available. Starting off with a 5.7L HEMI V8 at 370 horses, Scat Pak models upgrade to a 6.4L V8 with 475 horsepower on tap. The widebody Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye return, the former bumped up 10 horsepower to 717 and the latter bursting with 797. All said, the 2022 Dodge Charger has a lineup of mean muscle sedans that can still comfortably handle a family of 4.
Aggressive Aero Looks
Rear window louvers add a cut, aggressive look to the rear profile of a Charger. A throwback style option for 2022 Dodge Chargers, the classic rear window louver is one with straight slats running laterally across the rear window, spaced equidistantly with a total of 7-9 slats. Still available, the aftermarket has evolved the look to offer louvers that are even more sinister, increasing the raked appearance of the back end. Louvers with inverted, wide chevrons or wavered slats twist the classic design into a modern, aggressive looking piece that matches the modern day characteristic of the 2022 Charger. Louvers with centered dorsal slats that taper in length from top to bottom, with wide lateral ovals at each side, cue from the design of European supercars, giving this otherwise all-American Charger an exotic touch. Furthering this supercar style is that many of these louvers feature a carbon fiber finishing print (or, some very high end louvers are fabricated entirely from carbon fiber), which really adds to the modern supercar theme. That said, while the design and appeal of these louvers are subjective, the construction is not. The more expensive louvers on the market will be made of aluminum. Lightweight and strong, aluminum benefits from natural anti-rusting characteristics and has great durability. The other primary type of louvers is those made of ABS plastic. In this case, these louvers are typically are made from an injection mold, thereby producing one solid piece. While not as hardy as aluminum, ABS nonetheless is no slouch either. Extremely lightweight, ABS plastic has good impact resistance and durability, and being a plastic, of course is impervious to rust and corrosion.
The Best in Suspension
For those that are interested in pushing their 2022 Charger through the corners (especially on a track), a coil over kit is one of the best upgrades to make.
- Superior handling
- Ride height adjustability
While those two points seem simple on the surface, the fact of the matter is that a quality performance-orientated coil over suspension kit will really let you dial in how your 2022 Charger looks, rides and handles. Featuring monotube shocks that are mainly geared towards track performance, the amount of adjustability a quality coil over will offer is unparalleled. The aftermarket coil over systems currently available for 2022 Dodge Chargers all allow for an adjustable drop height of 1.5-2.5 inches up front and 1.5-3 in the rear. Dropping your Charger will lower the center of gravity, which will reduce body roll in corners and positively effect overall cornering ability. However, typically when a car is lowered, the ride will become harsher. This is counteracted through the adjustable dampening ability of the shocks that are included as part of a good coil over suspension kit. Externally adjustable, owners can dial in just how much bias they want - aiming more for performance, or more for comfort. To really draw the most performance out of your 2022 Charger when using a coil over kit, dialing-in the proper camber and castor is a must. Lowering the ride height affects these two parameters, and it is important to check and correct that they are still with limits. A complete coil over kit should include new camber plates, but if this is not the case, it is recommended to pick up a set alongside the coil over suspension kit.
