      Review & Installation Video

Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

        5 2010 GT - Rambo54 Installation Time: Afternoon

        Beast!!

This is all around what I wanted and what your mustang needs. She can breath! And loudly. I highly suggest the Airaid intake with the Bama tuner set up. To go “full throttle” I suggest it with the kooks long piped headers and X-piping with flow master-outlaws for that loud and powerful push and sound. Triple thumbs up

        2010 Mustang GT CAI

Great addition to the mustang, nice exhaust note with this. Only real issue was the fact that they, didn’t include a long enough vacuum hose. I had to run to the store to get another one. Note: this intake requires a tune.

5 2010 GT - Raven Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Quick install

Installed this in less than hour in my garage. The was very tight, getting it on the intake was a struggle. I unbolted the the dust cover to give me more wiggle room and for the end onto the intake, I then went back and rebolted the cover back down. Little advise, your factor intake has the MAF sensor on the front end of the intake, on this product it’s on the bottom. I recommend installing the sensor before attaching the tube to the cover to avoid having to take it apart again just to get the sensor in. Overall good product, looks good under the hood and nothing hits the hood when closed.

        Awesome product

This kit was very easy to install. Precision made, no modifications required. If it didnt come with the air raid stickers i would swear that it was a factory part.

5 2010 GT - AlexL Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Great quality and awesome fit

I love the new intake. Car feels smoother and a little more pickup. Combined with off road x pipe and a bama race tune it's like a new car.

        3 2010 GT - Hoffman755

        Disappointed

Got the product in on a Monday with a new throttle body. Had planned out to install them on Wednesday the same week. After spending about two hours trying to get the coupler around the new throttle body and a trip to Home Depot for bigger hose clamps, I finally begin installing the intake kit. I install the intake tube, heat shield, resonator relocation bracket, new breather tube, and ran the new wiring route for the MAF. The last step is to install the new filter. The filter diameter is about 4-5 inches too small to the adapter it is supposed to attach to. Spend the next 2 hours undoing all my work and just about waste a whole day of work on it to have the stock intake back on. I contact AM the next day, with an apology they give me two options. Obtain a return shipping label for them to get an entire replacement kit (once they recieve the original one) or purchase a new kit and return the original one once it arrives. I fully understand mistakes happen, but after un-boxing, installing 90 of the kit, taking it back off (laid out organized in my garage ready to go back in) they want me to send the entire thing back just for a filter. It could have been as simple as sending the correct filter and I would have returned the incorrect filter. I just purchased the right filter (another $75.90) instead of going through the hassle of packaging up the original kit shipping it out and waiting for the new one to arrive. Conclusion is, quality and performance of the intake are right where they should be, but I feel there should have been a much easier resolution after a mistake on AM/Airaid's end.

        Easy install looks great

Very quick and painless install in less than 30 min. Everything fits nice and snug and looks sharp. Next step is to upload the tune! I think the tune will bring the performance gains.
