      Hey, Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com, and I have with me BBK’s tuned length shorty headers, available in your choice of either chrome or ceramic, fitting all 96-04 Mustang GTs. These headers feature what BBK refer to as their tuned length runner design, which makes them a hybrid between a standard shorty setup and a set of long tubes. As you can see the headers aren’t nearly as long as a set of long tubes, but in the end BBK claims more horsepower and torque, versus your typical shorty setup. As for the constructions, we’re looking at 1 ¾” mandrel bent stainless steel tubing, as well as these laser cut flanges for an OEM quality fit. So why would you want to go with a shorty setup versus a set of long tubes? Well, simply put a shorty header is going to be less expensive and much easier to install, versus a set of long tubes. This is due to the fact that most shorty headers are a direct bolt on, meaning you wouldn’t have to modify your Mid Pipe like you would using a set of long tube headers. Will the shorty perform just as good or better than a set of long tubes? Most likely no, but it’s still a solid upgrade over those restrictive cast iron factory manifolds. As I mentioned earlier you do have the choice of picking these headers are in a chrome finish or a ceramic finish. So what are the differences between the two? Well for one, you can see the chrome finish is a little brighter initially but that’s going to change as these headers heat cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark blue or purple color. On the other hand, we have the ceramic finish, which is going to remain that bright silver, for years down the road. Secondly that ceramic coating is going to be better at reducing under the hood temperatures, which is always good for performance. Those added benefits do come at a cost as those ceramic coatings are typically a little more expensive than a chrome plated or a stainless header. Doing the install on any set of headers can be a little intense so it’s best to leave yourself a full day to tackle the job just to be on the safe side, and as always if you’re not feeling confident about this one, don’t hesitate to give your local shop a call, they’ll be happy to help you out. BBK Shorty Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-5/8" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow and feature one piece, laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit.         American muscle is always got the best parts

        Since I purchased my 2000gt in 2005 love those little Edge bodies I purchased from from a naval officer in Lemoore I've depended on American Muscle for all my parts from car covers ,spoilers , headers I looked around at other parts places but American Muscle seems to have good parts good delivery and good service you can call him anytime

        These were quite the job getting installed. I did them myself and it two at least two days jacked up the right side of motor and transmission to get it into the engine bay and boy will I tell you those bolts are fun to try and get in when your using a couple fingers and just feeling it in. They do sound great and looking forward to notice a power difference.

        I had these installed with a Pypes o/r X pipe and Flowmaster 40s initially. they did quiet the X pipe down some but it sounded a lot deeper and opened up the car. after a month I switched to SLP Loudmouths, totally different car. incredibly loud now. Whenever a straight piped truck comes by I can about drown them out. So if you want LOUD..just get some SLP Loudmouths to go with these headers if youre worried about them being quiet. definitely picked up some power too

        Poweeeeerrrr!

        Easy to install, when you have a car lift available. Found it best to take the k-member out. In the end I recommend long tube headers if money isn't an issue. But great product would recommend to anyone.

        Hindsight is 20/20

        Unless you either plan on; A- removing the heads and or motor, B- dropping the k-member and lowering the motor. the instructions BBK provides are laughable, even called the company and they sent me a video link that just frustrated me even more because it was incredibly vague that they made it sound easy peasy. Good luck trying to install them with the motor still in the car. I ended up going with plan B, I invented new Cuss words and had cuts all over my hands/face. IT sounded nice after install w/ off-road H-pipe and flowmaster 40's, but ...... after all that trouble I should have just installed long tubes. Oh yeah, if you end up with an exhaust leak......good luck. If you have stock and are deciding to upgrade, go long tubes or stay stock in my opinion.

        Awesome product BUT....

        Wonderful product BUT..... make sure you know how to drop a k-member and spend many hours installing. if you don't have a lift, I recommend taking it to a shop.

        Took the heads off to install these.. had to replace my egr valve as well...they bolted on fine.. getting the dip stick tube back in took forever had to bend it and hammer it in which took a couple hours. The gaskets that come with it don’t work well..

      How much louder do they make your catback exhaust?

      • The BBK Chrome Tuned Length Shorty Headers will increase the exhaust volume a minimal amount.

      Will these make your catback louder or will the long tubes be louder?

      • The BBK 1-5/8 in. Chrome Tuned Length Shorty Headers will absolutely help increase the sound produced from your vehicle especially when paired with an aftermarket cat-back exhaust. As you also mentioned, Long tube headers will produce the most sound and power but these BBK Shorty Headers will absolutely be a great upgrade if you are looking to avoid having to modify or cut your existing cat-back exhaust.
