Hey, Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com, and I have with me BBK’s tuned length shorty headers, available in your choice of either chrome or ceramic, fitting all 96-04 Mustang GTs. These headers feature what BBK refer to as their tuned length runner design, which makes them a hybrid between a standard shorty setup and a set of long tubes. As you can see the headers aren’t nearly as long as a set of long tubes, but in the end BBK claims more horsepower and torque, versus your typical shorty setup. As for the constructions, we’re looking at 1 ¾” mandrel bent stainless steel tubing, as well as these laser cut flanges for an OEM quality fit. So why would you want to go with a shorty setup versus a set of long tubes? Well, simply put a shorty header is going to be less expensive and much easier to install, versus a set of long tubes. This is due to the fact that most shorty headers are a direct bolt on, meaning you wouldn’t have to modify your Mid Pipe like you would using a set of long tube headers. Will the shorty perform just as good or better than a set of long tubes? Most likely no, but it’s still a solid upgrade over those restrictive cast iron factory manifolds. As I mentioned earlier you do have the choice of picking these headers are in a chrome finish or a ceramic finish. So what are the differences between the two? Well for one, you can see the chrome finish is a little brighter initially but that’s going to change as these headers heat cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark blue or purple color. On the other hand, we have the ceramic finish, which is going to remain that bright silver, for years down the road. Secondly that ceramic coating is going to be better at reducing under the hood temperatures, which is always good for performance. Those added benefits do come at a cost as those ceramic coatings are typically a little more expensive than a chrome plated or a stainless header. Doing the install on any set of headers can be a little intense so it’s best to leave yourself a full day to tackle the job just to be on the safe side, and as always if you’re not feeling confident about this one, don’t hesitate to give your local shop a call, they’ll be happy to help you out. These are definitely worth a buy if you're planning on upgrading your stock headers whether you're going with shorties or long tubes BBK will not disappoint. Replaced my old set due to just wear and tear over time and decided to pick up a set of new shorties paired up with and SLP Loudmouth system and I can say it blows me away each time I start it back up.Helpful (7)

Shorty headers installed!
Took ony 4 hrs to install. Drivers side went in just fine after disconnecting the steering intermediate shaft. Passenger side was a little more in depth. Had to remove starter and the engine mount, then jack the pass side ip a little. All bolts went in fine, only had to tighten the lower bolt a little and then work the top ones in a little at a time, then back to the bottom 4, then back to top ones. Takes patience, Had to do that on both sides. Was expecting to take longer from the reviews, but i am an automotive master tech, so it was easy for me.Helpful (10)

I live in Denver, Colorado and was wondering if these would pass emissions? I ask because i was told they don't have o2 sensors.
As these are shorty headers these should not have issues with emissions. The o2 sensors from the stock headers can be used for these as they are the same length as stock.
Do i need to buy a mid pipe with this shorty headers ?
There's a two part answer to this question. 1. No, these are a direct bolt on replacement. They will work with your existing factory mid-pipes, and don't require any mid-pipe upgrades to fit. However... 2. You'll want to upgrade your mid-pipe and remaining exhaust after these! To get the most out of the increased flow you get from these, it's best to upgrade to a performance H pipe or X pipe set. If you're like me and upgrade your car as money allows, go ahead and just replace the headers now. Just know you will eventually want to do more to maximize the end result in time.
Does the bbk shorty headers help your car get louder , like a set of long tubes ?
The BBK shorty headers will provide a more aggressive sound when compared to the stock manifolds. Unfortunately they will not be as aggressive as the long tube headers.
will this fit a 2001 bullitt
The BBK shorty headers will fit an 01 Bullitt.
Will this headers fit on OEM H-pipe catalytic converter? Even X-pipe or H-pipe off road too?
Yes, These headers will work with the factory mid-pipe.
Yes, these headers would include all the required gaskets to install this on your Mustang. This will also bolt up to the OEM mid pipe.
The shorty headers can be used with the stock mid pipe or aftermarket mid pipes, there should not be any additional modifications required for this setup.
Unfortunately, we do not sell the hardware for this kit separately.
This shorty header kit will include two headers (both driver and passenger side).
You will not have any issues with the o2 sensors.
These headers would come with the gaskets already and would come with everything you need for the install.

The BBK 1-5/8 in. Ceramic Tuned Length Shorty Headers are very similar to equal length headers. The runners will all be the same length to improve scavenging.
