Hey. everybody, I'm Justin with, and in this video, I'm gonna be talking about a few upper and lower control arm options from BBK, available for your '79 to 2010 Mustang. If there's ever been one company that has truly flown the Mustang flag since day one, it's BBK. They've been showing their support for the Mustang and it's owners since the mid-80s, and show no signs of letting up anytime soon. As many of you guys probably already know, BBK makes a wide variety of parts for many different applications, including exhaust systems and cold air intakes, headers, and even suspension components like I'm talking about here today. Now the parts I have with me in this video consist of an upper and lower rear control arm kit, available for both your three and four link Mustang. So when ordering, just make sure you grab the right set for your generation. So the job of the rear upper and lower control arms is to brace and link the rear end of your Mustang to the chassis itself, and ultimately control the movement, hence the name control arm. Now the problem is the factory stuff contains soft rubber factory bushings that do a great job soaking up the excess noise vibration and harshness, but can often times leave a lot on the table when it comes to performance. Now this can cause problems such as bad wheel hop, poor traction, and inconsistent launches, just to name a few. The upper and lower arms from BBK are gonna improve on those areas I just talked about, thanks in part to the high-quality aircraft grade steel, precision welding, and most importantly, the high-performance polyurethane bushings. They're gonna help reduce any excess movement in the rear end, help you put that power down, and improve your handling in the process. Finally here, all the bars have been powder coated in the signature gray from BBK and do include greaseable fittings here to help prolong the lives of the bushings themselves. Since the kit from BBK does include both the upper and lower rear control arms you are gonna be spending a little bit more time in the garage, but overall the install shouldn't be that bad, maybe two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now we do call this one a full-day install on the site, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of you guys can bang this one out in six hours or less, just to get everything knocked out. Does the kit come with new bushings for the upper control arm where it bolts to the rear end?


  • This BBK control arm kit does come with all the bushings for the control arms needed for a complete installation.

I was considering getting the Bilstein quad shocks for my 2003 Mach 1 but wanted to know if this BBK control arm kit would eliminate the need for the quad shocks.


  • The BBK Rear Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit will certainly help with wheel hop and handling just as the quad shock would. You can certainly remove your quad shock if you would like after installing this kit and you will not notice any decrease in performance.

will these work on my 04 gt with the sr lowering springs I have the sr springs and was wondering if they will work without having adjustable uppers for the pinion angle ??


  • The BBK Rear Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit (99-04 GT, V6, Mach 1) will work with the SR Springs without having to adjust the pinion angle as the SR Springs are not an aggressive drop.

How much HP can these handle?


  • These control arms are not rated for a specific amount of horsepower, they are designed to assist in added traction while cornering and in launches. If there is a scenario where the car is making so much horsepower that a factory rear end would be moving to much then a completely redesigned rear end would be required.

Will this arm kit lower my 03 Mach 1 with factory suspension?


  • The BBK Rear Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit will have no effect on ride height. What they will do is provide better traction at launch, and better handling through the use of much stiffer designed boxed steel body vs the factory stamped steel, and stiffer polyurethane bushings over the factory rubber bushings.

My car is lowred 2.5in front, and 2.3in back. Will these correst rear geomatry or would I need an adjustable control arms?


  • With that much of a drop an adjustable control arm setup will allow you to dial in pinion angle better.

    Incredible... Combined with my new rims, tires, and the poly spring isolators, it a WHOLE NEW RIDE... No more hop when accelerating around corners...I would recomend these to anyone. I don't know why I waited to make these the last componant of my suspension upgrade.

The construction quality is really good also, I would recommend these over the J&M, lakewood and maximum motorsports since the construction is much better like the steeda arms. still a great buy.

    Should have gotten these a LONG time ago!!

    Just installed them yesterday, couldn't stop myself from driving it today! The rear end feels so firm, I no longer have to hold down the gas pedal to avoid that annoying wobble it made before whenever I let off the gas to switch gears. If you're getting these, make sure to replace the Rear Axle Bushings too, it is a pain to drill out, but definitely worth it since you're going to be in that area!

    Tight rear....

    This set will make your car feel like a totally different ride. You will have so much fun switching lanes because its just so tight the ground. These eliminate 80 percent of the body roll in the rear, it just feels glued to the ground. Honestly my car is moldy modified but that car will flip before the rear spins out around a turn with the power I have a new set of shocks and tires will also help...that's what I did and it cut the squeaks down to little to nothing. Great product and a great company.. Will continue to buy from am in the future

    Easy to Install. Only about 2 hours with jack stands and hand tools. Helped reduce wheel hop when starting off the line and improved my ride quality in general around town. Dissapointed I waited to make this the last part of my suspension upgrades.

    Phenomenal product.

    These control arms where just what I needed to fix the rear end!! After my wreck back in December, insurance put used parts on the rear end. I was hearing a lot of clanking and squeaking going on, and after taking the struts out and checking them, and even taking the differential cover off to check the gears I knew it had to be the control arms (heck it was all that was left lol). But after spending all day putting these new ones on from BBK, I am more than impressed with the outcome of this product. No more squeak, no more clanking!! These control arms combined with new bushings for the springs have made the rear end of my car seems like its brand new. Thank you AM!!!!! The only problem I ran into with these control arms is that the kit does not come with new bolts for the sway bar. The old ones would no work, so I went to Lowes for new bolts, nuts, and locking washers. If you run into this problem the ones I used are... 3/8 x 2 Hex Bolts (4) 3/8 -16 Hex Nuts (4) 3/8 Split Lock Washers (8) And on a side note you will have to drop your exhaust in order to get to the upper bolts on the lower control arms. But it was simple.

    These control arms are pretty awesome. They were easy to put on, look great under my car, and make my rear end hook really good when driving hard. The wheel hop I used to feel is gone and when I spin my tires now it feels nice and solid to the ground. Thanks American Muscle

    Great product .5 reduction

    I have a 2000 gt with a DSS 5.0 super modular engine, I was getting wheel hop and spinning through 2nd. I installed these with a buddy took about 3 hrs. Took to the track and reduced my launch half a sec on street tires alone. Easy to install, great product, would recommend these control arms. Upper and lower its a good price. Thanks again...

    Awesome purchase for the money!!!

    This really is worth the money! I was having traction issues but this solved it. The only thing I didn't like was the positioning of the grease point on the arms. They were very awkward to get to. Other than that it was an awesome investment.

    Much needed.

    Great product by BBK. Easy install, only took me about 3 hours solo, I highly recommend tackling this job yourself it's too simple to pay hundreds at a shop. Tech note. Any stang above 99' has larger lca bolts, 14mm, where as the uppers are 12mm, the BBK kit requires 12mm on both upper and lower, my local bolt shop helped me find substitutes as the kit includes no hardware. Aside from the technical stuff, the hop is almost completely gone, and the ride is smooth, no more clutch riding to avoid that nasty shake down, launches in the v6 are much quicker and consistent I can feel a huge gain in how well the car puts the power on the ground. Highly recommended upgrade.

    Easy install, great result

    These control arms were very easy to install. Once I got the car in the right position up on jack stands, and loosened the exhaust, the control arms were a snap to unbolt and pop in the new ones. These new ones fit great, an offer huge difference and handling. Definitely worth the afternoons work

    great new part

    Better handling, stability, and launches. The uppers were easy to change the lowers were really on there, the bolts were very difficult to remove after getting the nut off. Be ready, they may be a pain but worth it.

    I had the common lateral slop our cars are plagued with and curves were a challenge. Not anymore! I can get my Bullitt well over 100mph and she still feels firmly planted whereas before even at 80 she would feel floaty. Install was easy, lowers went in in 45 minutes, uppers took a little longer but otherwise an easy install.

    These are really solidly built and were pretty easy to install. I did have to drop down the muffler to get the uppers installed, but wasn't too much trouble.
