Popular Tire Sizes for this Wheel
Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a look at our race inspired FR500 wheels for all 94-04 Mustangs. These wheels are inspired by the factory built turnkey racecar the Ford Mustang FR500. Now these cars were built for one sole purpose: to be all out track monsters using beefed up suspension, and a slightly more radical engine. Now the styling of these wheels is drawn from the more aggressive racecar appearance that differentiated these models from their road going counterparts. Our FR500 wheels are available in both 17 and 18” diameters, and your choice of either black, black chrome, anthracite silver, or chrome finish. Now you can buy these wheels individually if you like, however the smart move would be to take advantage of one of our pre built tire and wheel combinations, that pair your new FR500 wheels up with some of the better performing tires on the market today, in sizes that are guaranteed to fit your ride without rubbing, even if you’re lowered an inch or two. Not only that you get to take advantage of our free shipping and handling, free mounting and balancing, and optional nitrogen fill. Now the wheels are available in both staggered and non staggered fitment and with the always cool deep dish feature. Now deep dish refers to the lip around the wheel itself, this means that the face of the rim is set further back from the rim, resulting in a nice thick lip which looks very cool. As I mentioned before you can get the wheels in a staggered fitment which simply means your rear wheels and tires are going to be slightly wider than your fronts giving you that classic muscle car look. That’s exactly what we’ve done on our 2000 V6 behind me, got the black 18x9’s up front, and as you can see we’ve got the black 18x10’s out back, giving us that really tough stance. This will also help our traction as well, thanks to the fact that we get to run a slightly wider rear tire, helping us get that power down to the ground. To give you an idea of what some of the different finishes look like we’ve equipped our 98 GT on the lift there with a set of anthracite silver FR500’s. Next to that on our Dynojet we have our 2000 GT, sporting the very sharp chrome finish. Whatever finish you decide to go with, rest assured knowing that we here at AmericanMuscle have your back with a 1 year warranty on all finishes, and a lifetime structural warranty. When you receive your new set of wheels from AmericanMuscle you’ll find that installing them is as easy as ordering them, all you need to do is simply crack your lugs loose first while your car is still on the ground, then jack the car up and swap the wheels. Doing all of that takes you about an hour using standard hand tools and a floor jack. If you’re a fan of racecar styling and you want your ride to be inspired by a true purpose built racecar, then you’ll definitely want to check out a set of our FR500 wheels for your Mustang.

Race-inspired, street friendly. Now you can have the modern split "Y" spoke styling of the FR500 Mustang for your very own Pony. These FR500 rims look like they're tearing up the track, even when just sitting in your garage.
Deep Dish Design. Our deep dish FR500 rim exaggerates the width for an aggressive stance that commands attention.
Gloss Black with Polished Lip. Black out your wheels for a sick stealth effect, but get the flash of a high polished lip and have it both ways. Clearcoated to protect against roadchips and pitting, you also get the benefit of never noticing brake dust.
Application. This 17x10.5 FR500 Style Wheel fits the rear only of the 1994-1998 Mustangs, including the V6, GT and SVT Cobra models. Stagger with 17x9 FR500s wheels on the front for a classic muscle car stance & improved traction.
Technical Note. Will not fit Mustangs equipped with Baer EradiSpeed+1 rear brakes.
Recommended Tire Size:
Technical Note. Due to the limited space in the rear wheel wells of the 1994-2004 Mustangs, we highly recommend you flip or completely remove the rear quad shock for proper fitment. Slight rubbing may occur on the inside of the wheel and tire without this modification.
Note. Priced per wheel.
Fitment: 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998
Mounting & Balancing: AmericanMuscle offers professional mounting and balancing on all wheels and tires when purchased together on the same order. This will allow you to swap out your old wheels for your new set when they arrive.
What is TPMS? The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS for short) is a factory installed safety feature on all 2007 and newer Ford Mustangs that alerts you when your tire pressure drops to an unsafe limit.
How do I keep my TPMS feature? Aftermarket wheels do not come with TPMS sensors. However, if you select 'Add TPMS Sensor Kit' and your specific year range from the options listed above, we'll install the TPMS Sensors in your new wheels!

Awesome setup so far!!!
I bought Bullitt wheels with Sumitomo's for my Mach 1 years ago and was thinking of doing a makeover recently. I was tossing between these or Saleen's in either black or chrome. I was kinda uncertain about black rims on a black car for me personally but I think they look amazing!!! So far the Mickey Thomson's are working great as well. The only negative for me personally is not being able to swap the triple bar/pony center caps over from my Bullitt rims.Helpful (0)

Great but be careful
The wheels look great. However, I received them damaged slightly. I also have Borla ATAK’s for exhaust and had some slight clearance issues on the passenger side with the 315’s. They fit fine, just had to make some adjustments with my exhaust. The mickey’s hook well also.Helpful (0)

Nice wheels for the money!
Ordered 2 deep dish and 2 regular wheels. They look great if you don’t look like too close. Every wheel had some small paint bubbles or defects on them in the painted area . Not noticeable without close inspection.Helpful (5)
I'm running Eibach Sportline springs on my 2002 GT. Will these tires create any rubbing issues up front?
The 17x9/10.5" Staggered FR500 Style Wheel & Mickey Thompson Tire Kit will fit your 2002 Mustang GT equipped with Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs.
will a 275/40/17 tire fit this rim? i have a 2000 mustang gt and was wondering if 275/40/17 tires would fit this rim because i really didnt want to use the 315/35/17 is i didnt need to?
Yes, they will fit. I had the same issue. Never had a problem.
How big is the center cap
Will these fit with my factory quad shocks on my 2004 mustang gt?
Yes, this kit is compatible with the factory shocks.
Can these rims fit 1998 GT
Yes, this wheel will fit on a 1998 GT
The 17x9 wheel weighs 22 lbs while the 17x10.5 wheel weighs 24.5 lbs.
For the Deep Dish FR500 Style Black Wheel in the 17x10.5 size. The offset is +27mm (1.10") and the back spacing is 6.8" (174mm).
These wheels will not cause any clearance issues on a V6 with the stock suspension.
Unfortunately all we offer the FR500's in full black would be the 18" size. Also I would suggest against painting the wheels as depending on the paint you chose it may not match or adhere to the polished lip of the wheel.
Depending on the 5-lug conversion used ( Ford Ranger kit, etc, etc) fitment will vary, however, the Staggered FR500 Style Black Wheel & Sumitomo Tire Kit in 17x9/10.5, is not going to fit very well. The wheels are slightly too large, and will rub significantly, especially if the vehicle is lowered. If the 5-lug conversion kit was purchased from AM, we do have a wheel section with wheels that fit our conversion 100%. This section can be found in the Foxbody generation in "wheels".
That's correct - the 17x9 wheels can be used in all (4) corners or you can stagger with the 17x9 in the front and these 17x10.5 in the rear. The 17x10.5 wheel is much larger than the 17x9, not just because of the deep dish, and would require larger rear tires to accommodate the larger wheel. The best tire size for these would be a 315/35-17 tire. Hope this helps to answer your questions!
