Assaulting the ears with a pulse-quickening, adrenaline-boosting super aggressive exhaust note created by carefully tuned muffler cores, the Borla ATAK Axle-Back Exhaust Systems gives your 2015-2017 V6 Mustang an authoritative presence plus extra strength. The 4" round exhaust tips look great projecting from under your 'Stang, with exciting angle-cut design, rolled edges, and a brilliant mirror finish.

ATAK. Acoustically-Tuned Applied Kinetics, is Borla's newest technology that produces the highest available dB (decibel) levels to pump the volume while retaining clarity of sound, avoiding distortion typically found in louder exhausts. The ATAK muffler uses a multi-core straight-through design with both perforated stainless cores and ceramic material to absorb high-pitched sounds.

More Power. Besides its great looks and fierce sound, this Borla ATAK Axle-back features high flow mufflers and smooth mandrel-bent pipes to help expel exhaust gases out faster. This design increases power output with potential gains rising as high as +7-10% more horsepower and ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels.

High Quality Construction. Borla builds the ATAK Axle-Back to last, using austenitic stainless steel for construction throughout, as well as all-welded design. The exhaust system is USA-made and comes with a million-mile warranty, reflecting its stubborn rust and corrosion resistance. The tubing measures 2.25 inch and is mandrel-bent, while the tips are 4 inch diameter.

Cut & Clamp Installation. The installation of this Borla ATAK Axle-Back Exhaust requires cutting and removing the stock muffler assemblies. The new muffler assemblies will clamp in place of the old. Clamps and instructions are provided.

Application. This Borla ATAK Axle-Back Exhaust System is designed for use on 2015-2017 3.7L V6 Fastback or Convertible Mustangs. Please choose your application from the options listed above.

Are these legal in CA? If so, how are they when the s-types (which are supposedly quieter) are not? Or is it illegal and just missing from the description?

    • Since the Borla ATAK Axle-Back Exhaust is after the catalytic converters, that will deem it CARB Legal. Though, it does not have a CARB number, so we suggest reaching out to your local authorities to double check.

is catback give more perforce than axel back? what about sound? what is the benefit of catback compared to axelback

    • At stock power levels, the Borla ATAK Axle-Back Exhaust or the Cat-Back equivalent will both give minimal performance gains. With more highly modified cars, such as a supercharged Mustang, a Cat back will help build more power compared to an axle back. Exhaust volume and tone will be virtually identical between the two.

      Music to my ears!

I have owned SLP products in the past, and nothing sounds better on a Pontiac Trans Am than a SLP “Loudmouth”. But now I can make the claim that the Borla ATAK is the best for a Mustang V6. It’s expensive, but worth every penny. No highway drone sound. Just can’t say enough good about this product.

I looked through TONS of mufflers and reviews before I decided on the one I’ve been fantasizing about since I was a kid. And that is BORLA! I got the ATAK’s because I know they are the loudest Borla had to offer for my car. But seeing as it’s a V6 I also knew it wouldn’t wake the neighbors. Perfect packaging. There’s absolutely no expense spared in making sure they don’t get dinged during delivery. Couple of weld spots on each one had me like “cmon guys it’s almost $800 bucks here” but all in all good weld quality. Nothing major to report as bad on that. The sound is exactly what I’ve been looking for. A 6 will never sound like an 8 but I believe this gets real darn close without shattering moods. When I hit cruise altitude in this flying ship it’s no noise or drone at all and that’s another key thing I looked for. Price was $50 bucks to install and only took 10 mins! All the mechanics had their cam phones out video recording so that’s obviousky a good sign. Thanks AM for once again coming through! Much more to come

      Borla ATAK

You get what you pay for. Borla gives the best sound for the 3.7 imo. No drone. Sounds good through the whole power band. Local shop installed for $80. Lots of pops and gurgles. Fit was perfect, took my shop maybe 15 minutes to install. I have a 93 Bama tune, KandN typhoon CAI, BBK shorty headers, Off-Road H pipe, Borla Resonator to go with these axel backs. If you don't have Shorty Headers or plan on getting them, I would get the S-types, if you plan on getting shorty headers I would recommend the ATAK as it will give a perfect balance between smooth deepness and just the right amount of clean rasp, not ricey at all imo. I get compliments all the time on my exhaust tone. They are expensive but completely worth every penny.

      Amazing

These exhaust are exactly what I imagined they have a perfect sound and the installation was easy. I also got a resonator delete paired with these but the drone is barely even there. I couldn’t be happier with a set of exhaust and highly recommend.

      Great, amazing, great!

These are fantastic. They sound great on cold startup, have a nice sound at idle, but they can scream sweet sounds of freedom when you punch it. I have an automatic, which is prone to drone more than a manual, and there really is just no drone. Borla has made me a customer for life with these. Seriously, the price is the only bad part. They did what I wanted to. They are not excessive or going to ruin anyone's day. They sound nice and loud and when you want them to, but they cane easily be kept under control when I leave early in the morning for work. The cold start won't wake the neighbors unless they sleep outside in their backyard. Anyways, this is a fantastic product. If they are out of stock for the V6, then go buy the Ecoboost ones. Both are same part number 11890. I, of course, had the V6 though.
