    Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is my detailed review of the Borla ATAK Axle Back Exhaust System available for your 2015 and up Fastback GT, with your choice of either a black or polished tip. Now right off the bat guys, I can tell you that the ATAK from Borla is going to be for the S550 GT owners out there who are looking for an axle-back. It is going to deliver a lot of volume even with that factory resonator still in place. Now the ATAK is Borla's loudest and most aggressive muffler they offer for the S550 GT here at AM and stands for acoustically tuned applied kinetics, which is basically Borla's way of saying, "This thing is going to be loud, but it's not going to get sloppy or distorted the louder it gets." And as you guys just heard with the sound clips, this thing is certainly going to deliver that aggressive tone, but my opinion it's a slightly higher pitch tone, especially when compared to the Borla S type muffler, which is a slightly deeper tone. Overall, an easy four out of five of my one to five or one to wake neighbor scale. Again, guys, this is with the factory resonator still in place. Replace that resonator with an X or H pipe, add some long tubes into the equation, and you have essentially pegged the loudness meter. So again guys, to summarize, if loudness is one of the biggest deciding factors when choosing a muffler, the ATAK from Borla and the Corsa's sport muffler are going to be your two top choices here on the site. Now that Borla is certainly going to cost you a lot less compared to the Corsa, and overall it's going to come in around the $700 range, which I think is going to be your average price point for a lot of the big name aftermarket axle-backs, such as Borla, Magnaflow, Cooks, Ford Racing, things like that. Now if all of those names I just listed, you can expect pretty great quality, 304 grade stainless steel throughout here with the Borla, the patented ATAK series mufflers, two and a half inch mandrel bent tubing, and finally those large orange tips embossed with the Borla logo. Again, you can pick them up on a black chrome finish or a polished finish like I have on the table. The ATAK, much like any other aftermarket exhaust system here axle-back, is a cut and clamp design, meaning it's time to break out the fun tools. Now I myself prefer a Sawzall along with a fresh metal blade, but whatever you have on hand to do some cutting should be just fine. Now, it's not a hard install, but because you do have to cut, I'll call it two out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter, about an hour or two in the garage or driveway before you're making some noise. All right, guys. To wrap this up here, if you're looking for something that's going to be loud right out of the box and only get louder with supporting mods, such as your mid pipes or long tube headers, then the ATAK is certainly going to be the muffler for you. On the other hand, if you're looking to keep things quiet and stay under the radar, then you might want to consider something else. Either way, learn more about the Borla's stuff for your S550 GT here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Loud Aggressive Sound. Add a touch of Borla excellence to your 5.0L Coyote powered S550 Mustang with an "ATAK" axle-back exhaust system. A Borla "ATAK" axleback system will significantly increase exhaust flow over the restrictive stock exhaust system for a dramatic increase in rear wheel horsepower and an aggressive muscle car sound that is not for the faint of heart.

ATAK. Acoustically-Tuned Applied Kinetics, is Borla's newest technology that produces the highest available dB (decibel) levels to pump the volume while retaining clarity of sound, avoiding distortion typically found in louder exhausts.

High Quality Construction. Manufactured from ultra smooth mandrel bent 2.5" diameter T-304 stainless steel tubing to improve exhaust flow, this Borla axleback exhaust system features (2) race inspired "ATAK" mufflers with 4" black chromed stainless steel tips that are embossed with the Borla logo for both impressive looks and great sound.

Cut & Clamp Installation. The installation of this Axle-Back Exhaust requires cutting and removing the stock muffler assemblies, and clamping the new muffler assemblies in place. Clamps and instructions are provided.

Application. This Borla ATAK Axle-back exhaust system is designed for use on 2015-2017 GT Fastback and Convertible Mustangs equipped with the Coyote 5.0L V8 engine.

      Great sound and great price!

Makes the s550 sound exactly like it should. No droning on the highway which is nice. The installation was definitely a bit harder than I thought it was going to be, but I also have next to nothing when it comes to mechanical experience.

      Perfect

Paired the atak axleback with a h-pipe, it's the perfect sound with not as much rasp and a lower tone. No drone, couldn't be happier

2016 GT performance pack stage 3 power pack

Really makes the car sound great. A little loud with the x-pipe but not so much that you can’t deal with it. Probably would recommend the touring setup if you plan on going cat back or running headers because it would be way to loud for my taste otherwise.

      Glorious sound!

Screams at higher RPM but maintains a solid grumble while in lower RPM. A perfect match of reasonable grumble and loudest rev ups. This sounds perfect with leaving stock resonator on the car.

      Great Sound

Adds really nice on throttle volume, but without the groan at highway speed. Nice option for those who want a louder system with the long-term option to add a cat back x pipe.

      Great exhaust system

after install I was impressed with sounds not to overpowering but robust. Also I can feel a bit more horsepower at the throttle most definitely a good mod up from stock. Little bit pricey however gives that muscle car sound.

      Amazing!!

Install was pretty easy as long as you have a reciprocating saw with a new blade. Not much more effort after that. Now to the fun stuff! This exhaust rocks my world. I have a X pipe previously installed and that is the route you want to go. First day on a drive i fell in love. Got three thumbs up from people around me in the first 30 mins. Get this now!

      ATAK'S ALL THE WAY!!!!

I saved for month's to get my set up. My 2015gt is supercharged phase1 to phase2 upgrade 85mm pulley to 80mm pulley. I did have stock headers magnaflow catback hiflow catted xpipe with magnapaks ( very raspy and a lot of droning ) With my savings in 1 shot went with kooks 1 7/8 longtubes, hiflow catted mid with the Borla Atak catback ( switched out the x for a h pipe as i prefer the low rumble vs the rasp ) and WOW do those longtubes make those Ataks sing but not obnoxious compliments every where I go ! Borla exhaust has soul, depth, and character...worth every penny!!!!

      Rolling Thunder

Installing the Borla Atak with the black tips was one of the best mods I've done for my 2015 GT. The sound is just incredible, since installing the Atak I haven't even used the stereo in my car just love hearing that exhaust.

A little pricey but well worth it

Spent about a month to save up for these and I was given nothing short of what I was expecting from these. The install took about an hour on a lift and didn't run into difficulties. The ATAK's just scream and I love driving my 5.0 even more now just to hear my exhaust note bounce of the buildings or going through an underpass in neutral. These give more of a raspy modern V8 sound which I like over the beefy "old school" V8 sound. Overall, Stainless works headers x-pipe Borla ATAK's = freaking loud/smiling all the time.

      The absolute best!

Yes the price is a little high but it is well worth it! Amazing sound, it is loud when you step on it but not obnoxious. I recently added the Ford Racing X-pipe along with the atak's and I swear I have the best sounding s550 out there! Highly recommend these exhaust!
