    Hey, guys. Stephanie with americanmuscle.com, here with my review of the Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust system fitting all 2015 and up V6 Mustangs. There is no doubt in my mind that the Borla ATAK cat-back is going to be for the V6 owner out there that's looking for a high-quality system that's going to deliver a ton of sound. The ATAK is by far the loudest and most aggressive muffler in the Borla lineup, which also includes the Touring and the S-type. Borla says that ATAK stands for Acoustically-Tuned Applied Kinetics, which is basically Borla's fancy way of saying that this muffler is going to be loud but it's not going to get distorted or sloppy. So a cat-back is obviously going to replace the factory resonator mid-pipe, and Borla does it with their own midpipe resonator, as you can see right here. Now, this is a two-and-a-quarter-inch system, which is the same as the factory system. And this is manual Benz stainless steel tubing. The system is made from T304 stainless steel, which is the highest-quality material that you can get. And it's also been proven to be the best material for exhaust components. Finally, Borla finishes this system with the ATAK mufflers, which we have already sort of discussed. They're one of the loudest options out there and they're paired with four-inch chrome stainless steel tips that have the Borla logo embossed on them, which gives them a nice look under the rear of the car. There also isn't any of that high-end extortion that you normally hear with loud systems. And I think that makes for a very attractive-sounding system for the V6. The system does have some raspiness to it and a crackle or gurgle on diesel as, well as some pops, but it really just reminds me of a GT sound. This is loud, but I think the tuning of the mufflers keeps the loudness from being just noise. And as you guys already heard at the beginning of the video, the sound is certainly aggressive. If you compare the ATAK system to the Touring and even the S-Type, in my opinion, it's more of a higher-pitch tone. I'd say that the Borla S-Type muffler produces a slightly deeper tone. Now, with all of that being said, I'm going to give this a four and half out of five on the loudness scale - with one being a very quiet system and five being your neighbors are leaving notes on your car asking you to only start it during waking hours. Keep in mind that if you ever change your headers down the road, this could open up even more noise for you. So if your biggest deciding factor when shopping for a cat-back is loud, I'd say that the ATAK from Borla is probably going to be the top choice here at AM. If you aren't looking for that loud, then Borla does have other options that I mentioned already. Currently Borla is the only company producing high-end cat-backs for the V6 and naturally they're going to be the highest-priced. All of Borla's cat-backs are in the same price range for the V6, which is right in between $1200 and $1300. There are other options from companies like Mark and Gibson that are available, and on average, those are costing in the price range of $800 and $900. So if the Borla is a little highly priced for you, you can check those out as well, but just know that the quality, engineering, and fitment of those brands is probably not going to be on the same level as Borla, if that matters to you. When it comes to the installer, you're going to be looking at an easy one out of three wrenches on the scale when we look at difficulty. This is considered a direct built-on item, so you won't need to cut anything or modify anything to get it installed. All that you're really going to need is a socket set, and a lift would certainly make things easier, but the job can be done on stands as well. You're going to be removing the exhaust from your resonator back, so an extra set of hands can make things easier for you here. You'll be moving the rear hangers to the new cat-back, so I'd recommend just taking them off with the factory exhaust when you drop that. It'll just make the swap a little bit easier. The only other thing you'll need to reuse are the front cleanse off of the resonator for the front of the new resonator. When you go to install your new set-up, as usual, it's probably going to a little bit easier if you started by hanging the mufflers first. And just in case you're wondering, the cat-back does come with two new sets of clamps for the rest of the system. You can figure on spending about an hour or two from start to finish to get all of this done. To wrap things up with the ATAK cat-back, this is a very loud system, the loudest of the series of three systems that Borla produces, and it doesn't have a drone or any type of sound distortion even in the higher RPMs. It's also a high-quality system that's easy to install and finishes with orange polish tips to give a mean look to go with the mean sound that it produces.     • The Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust for the 15'-17' V6 Mustang will pair best with a Borla mid-pipe. However, this exhaust can be paired with most stock length mid-pipes on the market but may require small modification to pair together.

      Don't even think twice!!

      I researched and looked up tons of different exhausts, listening to videos and reading a bunch of reviews and none of those can truly show how badass this exhaust really is! I'm not gonna lie to you and say it sounds like a V8 because it doesn't, but if you're looking to take your V6 to the next level with one simple bolt on then this is for you! It sounds amazing and is not to loud to start at night by itself with headers maybe, but great product 1000000 mile warranty you can't beat it, great investment!

      I have this exhaust system for about six months and I couldn’t be happier. They were worth the price and they sound absolutely beastly. I refuse to use any other company due to the quality and sound of the Borla. If you want an incredible sounding exhaust with no almost no interior drone than this is the system for you.

      Nice Growl!

      I'm happy with the sound in high rpms the only reason why it's not a 5 it's cause 2 pipes were bent from the tip. But I fixed it and and fit like a glove.

      very happy

      I got to say this is a great exhaust. The sound clips don't sound as good as it does in person you have to hear it in person. Makes my car sound great. Vry loud when you get up on it anything pass 3000rpms your going to hear it getting loud but if you keep your rpms under that you won't hear much so you can do your daily driving no problems at all. It doesn't have that drone that makes you go crazy. It sounds great every at high rpms. Took me about 3 hours to install just on 4 jack stands and hand tools with some helping hands to hold up the exhaust so i can bolt evetyhing in. I can feel a differents in power right off the back. Had a little problem trying to get the tips to be just like the other one but i got it to be very close doesnt bug me. Best mod i got so far.

      I got it cost me 100$ to instal. On my girl v6. Sounds nice backfires like crazy sounds amazing but next day I went and did resonator delite and out XPIPE now it's louder then any GT out there. WAITING FOR THE HEADERS

      Great Exaust System!

      This is a great exaust system for the v6. Sounds great and was fairly easy to install. This is still a v6 engin so you won't have the deep v8 rumble but it's the best exaust I've heard on a v6 yet. No noticeable hp increase (haven't really checked, but wasn't expecting any) but I don't know about you but for me, a nice loud sounding muffler makes me want to rev higher. This could be the only potential down side to this exaust is that I rev higher and it makes me use more gasoline.. haha ;) . I try to see the good side in things so I see it as having more fun while driving :) overall? Great exaust!

      Love it!

      Excellent exhaust! Adds an aggressive roar when accelerating and a sweet little rumble when idle. When cruising there is no drone sound at all. I wouldn't mind a little louder of an idle but don't get it twisted this exhaust is hands down amazing. Highly recommend and very nice looking!

      Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust V6

      I purchased this exhaust in order to remedy the very anemic sounding Ford stock exhaust. I had it installed by my regular mechanic shop. The exhaust tips bend slightly towards the center of the car because the mechanic said they had to try to adjust the angle of the exhaust pipe to get around the convertible's stabilizing bars that keep the chassis from bending. It looks okay enough for me. I'm happy with the sound as it resembles the GT. The chrome tips really make the rear end more serious looking. Those stock tips were so sad. I would recommend the ATAK if you like the beefier sound.

      Great Exhaust for your V6 S550

      Spent many hours on YouTube and forums before I finally made the decision to buy this exhaust system. First, the sound this exhaust adds to the V6 S550 is AMAZING! It has a very nice crackle on deceleration. Also, I was able to make the exhaust back fire showing off to friends. Second, the install and set up took about 2.5-3 hours, alone. I was able to put the car up on ramps and jack stands to get underneath the car. An extra set of hands will probably make the install easier and quicker, pending you don't have trust issues like me. Last, the money is a little steep but you wont regret it. Spend the extra couple hundred on this exhaust and you will get your money's worth.

      Worth every penny

      So I've had my Borla ATAK exhaust on for about 2 weeks now, and I love it more each day. It gives the perfect muscle car noise for a V6, but it isn't too much noise. It's loud when you want it to be, and quiet when you want it to be. It has no drone on the highway, which is super important. The install is very easy too. Hardest part of the install was jacking my car up on the ramps. Great purchase, and worth every penny!
