I own a blue 2006 v6 Mustang Pony Package. I installed the hood along with the California Special front fascia and a GT style grill.
My body shop was IMPRESSED. Not just with how stunning the car itself turned out, but with the quality of the hood itself. Most fiberglass parts are difficult to work with and need a lot of prep, which translates into more shop time and expense. Like most of the reviews state here, this hood is the exception. Besides a short prebake and fitting, the hood just needed some minor touchup and was ready to paint. I cannot stress enough how high quality the part was. Out of the box, it looked almost like it could be bolted straight onto a white car, no problem. The shop guys said over and over that it needed to go to shows and was one of the best looking hoods they had ever seen and worked on.
A few points here to consider. Hood pins aren't necessary, so from my usage, no need to worry about wind catching it. Being a ram air, it has 2 very large gaps in the hood. I haven't put in the functional part yet, but it does help push air over my engine to cool it, so it does run just a little better. No problems with water and heavy rain, so no need to worry about drowning the engine, unless of course you are washing the car and directly spray into the holes. One more technical note, the hood does have a little spot for washer nozzles on the underside. (basically 2 little bumps big enough for a small bolt to hold the sprayer.) I am not sure if the wiper squirter kit really is a must, because the stock set MIGHT be able to relocate here on its own. (like I said, just a thought, mine has the aftermarket kit, which is a thin little bar, so they hide better and look kinda cool.) That's how my shop did it at least and its just different. Its not a big deal, just a possible way to save a few bucks and stay stock.
It is an aggressive hood and it does draw a LOT of attention. That said, it isn't over the top, and everyone that's seen it says its perfect. (Good fit for body lines, not too much, and such.) As far as seeing over it, if you don't mind a few inches of extra raise, its just fine. That said, I am 6'3, but my other shorter family says that, after a little while of getting used to it, its not too high. Just keep that in mind if seeing over is tough as is.
I would absolutely buy this product again, especially with the California Special front. It is PERFECT.
And as always, American muscle ships fast and is a great help!
