Hey guys, Adam here with Americanmuscle.com and today we're taking a pretty quick look at and installing the quarter window louvres in gloss black available for the '08 and newer Challenger. You should be checking this out if you're looking for that nostalgic, retro muscle car styling for the side profile of your Challenger for the '08 and newer range. This is something that we see on some of those 60s and 70s muscle cars that you might be looking to bring back for your newer gen model and it's got that aggressive styling. This is made from a nice lightweight ABS plastic material. It's CNT machined to be a perfect fit on your quarter windows. Now these are a little bit more unique in the category. Typically a quarter window louvre like this one here would have open slats that you can see straight through from the inside. This is a completely closed off design with five individual louvre slats that are molded together into this one ABS piece. When it comes to the finish, this is something that's a little bit more unique. It's not gloss black in the traditional sense of the word. Typically, when you hear gloss black, it implies that it has a gloss black paint job over the material. This has a glossy finish, but it's over a textured black ABS material. It's not painted whatsoever. It is paintable, something worth mentioning. If you did want to paint match this to, say, hemi orange like we have here on our 13 RT, you can definitely take it to a paint shop and have that custom painted. Out of the box, it has a slightly gloss sheen over top of a textured black finish. This is something that, do keep in mind, from the inside you cannot see out of the vehicle. Like I said, they are closed off. So it's a little bit more unique from the other options. It's a really thin, pretty flexible ABS material, very lightweight. As far as the price is concerned, it'll come in right around a hundred bucks, making it one of the most affordable ways to add a quarter window louvre to the sides of your vehicle. There are some of the more premium options that have open slats, some pre-painted options if you wanna get it pre-painted out of the box, and other ones there that have a upgraded higher quality material. This is great for the guys looking for a budget friendly appearance part that gets the job done. The install for this gets one outta three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Anybody can tackle it in the driveway at home with about 15 minutes or so from start to finish. It's extremely simple. All I recommend having on deck is an alcohol wipe or a soap and water mixture with a microfiber. You wanna make sure you're cleaning off the glass. It's the most important part. If you clean off the glass properly, the 3M automotive bonding tape pre-applied to the back of the louvre here is gonna hold on to that windshield for as long as you need it to, and, when you're ready to take it off, you can pop it off yourself. Cleaning is the most crucial step. I'm gonna show you guys every step of that process. What do you say we get started?Only tools needed for this install will be a knife, and alcohol wipes are recommended. If not alcohol wipes, soap and water and a microfiber will do the trick as well.First step here, you wanna grab an alcohol wipe. This is what I recommend. An alternative would be soap and water mixture and a squirt bottle, along with a clean microfiber. The point here is to clean off the edges of your glass, just to free it of all dirt and dust to make sure that 3M tape gets a good bond. I'm just gonna go right around the edges where I know that 3M is gonna make contact. This is the most important part here. You don't wanna skip out on this or get lazy with it. This is exactly what can prevent the louvre from popping off at highway speeds. Just make sure it's got a nice, clean edge. All right. And you could even go through the middle just to clean off any dirt you can see from the inside. Now we can grab our louvre.Once that dries off, you can grab your louvre. The 3M tape is already applied to the back of the louvre right outta the box. What I suggest doing is peeling off the edge of the tape in all three sections. There's one section going around the top here, one straight at the bottom and one on the side. Peel off that tape just a couple of inches so that it curls to the back side or the outside of the louvre here. Now what you wanna do with that is start to place this onto your windshield using that corner as a guide. It's gonna go right under the weather stripping. See now you have a piece of the 3M exposed on each side. Lightly press that into place so it hugs the windshield glass. Gently press that into place so it hugs the glass. Once you have that little corner tucked in, you can grab this 3M backing, peel it off, press down the bottom. Do the same thing for the top. Press that on, and then finally the side. Press that on. You can get rid of any excess that you have to peel off there. Put firm pressure all around. Repeat for the other side, and you're good to go.That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the quarter window louvres in gloss black available for the '08 and newer Challenger. This is a great way to go. Get yours right here at Americanmuscle.com.
