Hey, everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. This is my detailed review of the Corsa Sport Axle-Back Exhaust system available for your 2015 and up Mustang Fastback GT.
I'm sure a lot of you guys are familiar with the brand Corsa. They make some top quality stuff here, very popular on the site, and their systems never disappoint. Like many other aftermarket manufacturers for exhaust systems, Corsa does like to offer a few different flavors or offerings when it comes to their systems. For instance, Corsa does offer their Extreme cat-back system which is going to be their most loud, most aggressive system they offer. On the other side of the spectrum, we have the Touring series muffler which is going to be their mild option. The Sport system I have with me here today is going to fall somewhere in between those two in terms of overall sound and aggressiveness.
Believe it or not, guys, both the Sport axle-back I have with me here today and the Extreme cat-back from Corsa do utilize the same mufflers and essentially the same axle-back portion. What transforms this Sport axle-back into that Extreme cat-back is that double helix X-pipe that isn't available of course with this axle-back, but you can grab it here on the site if you'd like. Basically, what they did was by pairing up the straight through mufflers with the factory resonator, Corsa was able to create their own Sport system and sound, which again is going to give you a pretty good tone with that factory resonator in place, but it's not going to be scare old ladies walking down the street loud like that Extreme might be. For that reason we're going to give it a solid three out of five on our one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale.
With all that said guys, this system is going to be for any S550 GT owner out there who is looking for some good tone out of a system from a quality brand like Corsa but maybe isn't ready to ditch that factory resonator quite yet or maybe doesn't want to go all in on a full cat-back system because they can be a little pricey let's be honest. With that said, though, I do like this system because it does give you room to grow. For instance, if you do eventually crave a little bit more power and a little bit more sound, and let's face it we all do, then you can essentially transform this thing into that Extreme cat-back from Corsa, ditch that resonator, and add their double helix X-pipe. Again, you're going to create that very popular Extreme cat-back. It's going to give you a lot more sound and give you some extra power.
Even though this is an axle-back, guys, you are going to be forking out a nice chunk of change. People that know the Corsa name know that you're going to be getting a quality system from the build down to the fitment. We're looking at full 304-grade stainless steel throughout here, 3-inch mandrel bends in the tubing. Their patented RSC reflective sound cancellation technology in these mufflers is going to allow for that nice aggressive tone without any drone.
They also include the three inch to two and a half inch step downs here which do allow you to use this system with your factory two and a half inch mid pipe. Finally, we're looking at the four and a half inch Pro Series polished tip. It is worth pointing out that Corsa does offer a black chrome tip with the Sport axle-back here for 100 bucks more. Normally I'd say that's a little excessive for a finished tip, but the black chrome is very sexy, and it's actually the tip I have on my F150 at home.
Moving on into the install, easy two out of three wrenches here guys. I say easy because yes it is a little time consuming, yes you do have to cut, but really not that bad. Corsa lays it all out for you pretty clearly. Because there is some cutting involved, of course, make sure you have your saws on hand or something similar. A fresh metal blade is never a bad idea. Of course, don't forget your eye protection. With all that said, you should have the Corsa knocked out in under an hour or two from start to finish before you're making some noise in the driveway.
To wrap things up here, guys, the Corsa Sport axle-back is definitely on my short list for top axle-backs for you 2015 and up Coyote crowd. It's going to deliver plenty of sound with the factory resonator still in place. It's going to give you the ability to grow when the time does eventually come. The installation of this Axle-Back Exhaust will require cutting and removing the factory muffler assemblies and clamping the new muffler assemblies in place. Clamps and instructions are provided.Application.
This Corsa Performance Sport 3.0" Axle-Back exhaust system is designed as a direct bolt on replacement for all 2015-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the Coyote 5.0L V8 engine. Please choose Fastback or Convertible from the options above.
