Does it lower the car? Do these springs lower the car? and if so, how many inches does it drop from the front and back?

JonShelby

  • Yes. I just got these and put them on my stock 13 GT. They lower the front 1.75 inches and the rear 1 inch.

Will these springs work fine with the adjustable shocks and struts from strange?

darkshadow17

  • We would not be able to guarantee fitment since that strut is not one that we carry, however, if it is still a stock styled design of strut it may be able to be used with these springs.

I have been on ford racing k-springs for years. They lower 1". Obviously the front is softer but is the rear spring in this kit different from the rear in those? Both appear to be progressive rate springs. Again wondering about back 2 springs only.

I have a 14 gt, it's a street/strip car and it's my daily I've been looking at these for awhile now debating about them. Can anyone tell me how they drive on the streets?

SnowWhite5ohh

  • Hello! The Ford Performance 2013 Cobra Jet Drag Spring Kit has a soft spring rate in the front which makes for a comfortable daily driving experience, corning may be hindered slightly, but many people claim that they notice no difference in cornering. The only concern that you may have, is that being on a softer spring in the front, over larger bumps in the road you may lightly scrape the bottom of your car.

what are some good shocks to pair with these to help get the power to the ground

ShawnC

  • The shock and strut combination I would choose to pair with these springs would be the Ford Performance adjustable shock and strut kit which is item #50404 and can be found in the link below. http://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-shockstrut-0510gt.html

    Ford Racing Cobra Jet Springs

I got these springs for Christmas to put on my stock 2013 GT. I was not looking for lowering springs, just something to improve the weight transfer to the rear wheel while drag racing. I have been very impressed with these springs. The tracks here are closed right now, but even on the stock 18 inch Pirelli tires I no longer have wheel hop issues even on the street. The ride quality has not suffered at all and even though they are drag springs they have helped the car handle better. I was not expecting them to lower the car, but they did. The car now has a rake to it. The front end dropped 1.75 inches and the rear end dropped 1 inch. The way the car looks and feels with these springs is amazing. I would highly suggest these to anyone who drag races their daily driver.

    Cobra Jet drag springs.

I've had these sitting in my shop now for 4 years now and decided to pull out the SR lowing springs I installed right after I purchased the car new. I never was really a fan of the way the car road with the SR springs but did like the way it sat. I decided to go back and read the reviews of these springs and saw several people commenting on the ride quality so I decided to put them in. The first thing I noticed was the car sat about a half inch lower in the front and the back was a half inch higher then the SR springs. Next was the test ride and that was a big improvement over the SR springs. They have been in for about 4 weeks now and the ride height hasn't changed. Very happy with the swap.

    Cobra jet springs

Very easy installation and the stance of the car is killer. Very noticeable front end drop but the ride quality is great. Took about 2 hours to install the springs and lower control arms.

    Love how the car looks

These were a slight pain to install, but as with cars, of course I ran into problems lol But the product itself is great! I put these on to slightly lower my car and improve handling at the drag strip, and I couldn't be happier! I would say if you run into zero tool issues (I had troubles with the spring compressors and my strut mount) these should only take about 2 to 3 hours to do. I def recommend these, it paired up great with the control arms I installed and I have zero wheel hop! ride is stiffer and a lil louder, but I don't mind, your supposed to feel it when you drive anyways!

    Great Product

I recently installed these on my 2008 Mustang GT Sherrod 500S. I expected that I would lose some cornering ability due to them being designed for drag use, but itt has not been the case. I can still take corners as well as before. The springs are pretty soft so some of the bumps make my car bottom out a little bit but that is to be expected with a lowered car of any kind. As far as there performance for drag racing I have not had the opportunity to take it to our local track but just driving on the street is whole new experience. I would highly recommend these, definitely money well spent!!!

I love it! installed on a 2011 mustang gt

best mod suspension mod so far, I had already installed H&R lowering springs but wasn't satisfied and these are way better. the rear suspension feels way stronger and very stiff but doesn't ruin ride quality. It made it feel better along the curves. the front is very soft which makes the ride quality very nice for the street and when launching you can really notice the front lifting, making the weight transfer to the back of the car and improves traction a lot. I will only buy ford suspension mods from now on.

    Need Traction?

My 2013 GT it lowered the rear about 1.0-1.25 and the front 1.75-2.0. These are approximate measurements, but I also am front heavy with a Roush TVS. Ford Racing specs say 1.0 back and 1.75 for front. Beware of older Cobra Jet springs because they will be much lower. These are 2013 CJ springs. I have trouble getting my floor jack under the front jacking points (behind front tire). These springs are very soft and will make the back end even lower if your carry heavy items in your trunk. These are intended drag racing, not street racing. Now for the good points...They work exactly as intended and I have a VERY noticeable increase in traction. I combined with 90/10, 50/50 Lakewood shock/strut. Still a streetable combo for daily driver.

    Better than expected!

I recently purchased a 2011 Shelby gt500 with the SVT performance package. Even with the performance package I still had extra wheel hop and a hard time launching straight. I purchased these springs along with subframe connectors and lower control arms. My launches are now more solid and my wheel hop has vanished. I was concerned when at first sight as the front end of my shelby looked like it was going to scrub and rub. I took the car around town to hit a few railroad tracks and pot holes, to my amazement my ride quality has not been scarificed and my stance is one to die for.

    Ooh eeh! NIce

I like it!. I had these installed at my favorite tire shop...but they said they were super easy to install. The stance is so much better. I love the old school drag car rake and these springs gave me just what I wanted. I also like the ride better...not stiffer but actually bouncier in the seat. Surprisingly, the curve handling is noticeably improved. And the grab is so much better and not just off the line, but I can tell a big difference through the gears. I couldn't possibly be happier with a product. I'll try to add some pictures in customer photos section (Black 2012 GTCS)

    Car Looks Awesome

American Muscle is the greatest mustang after market store with its shipping. The springs came in the next day of ordering them. Although they slam the car, it looks awesome and I couldn't be more happier with the way it looks and drives. Defently buy these springs. Worth the buck and look great as well.
