Most fun upgrade I have done
I waited a long time and heavily debated getting this. I have had my car tuned about 2 months so I could give a good review. The short answer is that you should buy this!
If, like I was, you are unsure, let me clarify some things for you. Stock, I would agree there is about a 20 or so hp gain as stated. I have a functional ram air, dual exhaust and have run both race and performance tunes. Even with a v6 that is not heavily modified, there is enough of a difference to make me grin two months later.
The performance tune is great. The shift points are much better and the car is a bit more responsive. BAMA was great at answering questions and I feel like the tune actually fits what I asked for well. I have an absurd off the line start, and that is what I wanted.
The race tune is almost scary. While I had some tire bark with the performance tune, my V6 spins tires even in third gear. I will say that as fun as this is, the shift points are, as stated, actually very aggressive. Read: revs a bit higher, so around town is in a higher rpm range than normal generally. Also read: feels like car punts you as quickly in and out of third gear as possible.
The only two things I will mention that are not raving reviews are the device itself and the time. The device tends to not like connecting, so generally if you switch a tune or want to monitor something, you have to re-plug it in. Its small and out of the way and great, but a bit annoying having to pull it out and push it in every time to get Bluetooth to work. Also, the BAMA website was a bit stubborn, and I had to call twice to get the tune set up. That said, they were friendly and as I stated above, I feel like they did what I asked for.
All this said, I highly recommend this. It is not a bad price, especially if you catch it on sale like I did. The tunes are a lot of fun and really change the car. It's fun having a tire bark in 3rd gear and watching the "that's really a v6?!" face. Cant say gas is any better, but...I blame myself.
