    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey. What's going on guys? Adam here with www.americanmuscle.com. Today, I'm bringing you a detailed review of the JLT 3.0 Passenger Side, Air Oil Separator, available in either anodized or black options, fitting all '07 to '14 GT 500s. So in this video, I'll be talking about the functionality of the JLT 3.0 Oil Separator and it's operated materials and construction, but I'll even walk you through the installation which I'll tell you will be very simple, anything for a novice to take care of, which will get a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Let's jump right into it. The JLT 3.0 Passenger Side, Air Oil Separator in either black or anodized will be for all '07 to '14 Shelby GT 500 owners out there looking to pick up a part to reduce engine oil sludge from robbing your engine of its performance, as well as reducing the blow by. So, if you're not entirely aware of what an oil separator or also known as a catch can can do, let me explain it to you in a nutshell. An oil separator also known as a catch can, will help prevent oil from sludging up and corrupting your engine, robbing it of its performance, and also prevent blow by which is actually crankcase, exhaust gases which will build up in your engine intake manifold. And since we're speaking of a forced induction Shelby GT 500, it will also stop it from building up in your super charger. JLT has provided us with a lot of oil separators in the past which have gotten great reviews. They've since upgraded to the 3.0 version you see here today. Now, this one offers a lot of upgraded features and I've actually opened one up to show you what's inside. This one offers a three ounce capacity oil catch can which is almost double their other versions in the past, and some of the other options on the market. Up top here, you'll see they've upgraded from a pre-filter from Ford Motorcraft, to a half inch thick, one sixth aluminum honey comb filter, with a stainless steel screen to help prevent even more oil vapors from building up in your engine. Overall, this thing offers a ton of pros and virtually no cons. So, to elaborate on materials and construction, other than the upgrades I just mentioned, this is manufactured right here in the USA CNC machine from a solid aluminum block offers a rubber o-ring for a tight lid free seal, and mold textured finish right here on the bottom for good grip while you're performing routine oil changes. All on top of that, offered in a black or anodized finish to fit each of your preferences. Now, honestly in my personal opinion, there's absolutely no reason why any of the Shelby GT 500 owners I just mentioned will pick up this oil separator simply because it does nothing but good under your hood. Expect to pick it up for just about 140 bucks and like I said, offers a lot of pros, and I don't really see any cons here guys. So, there's a lot of bang for your buck with this product. Now, installation wise you can expect to get this done in just a few minutes and it won't even require any hand tools. All you have to do is simply unplug the factory hose and replace it with this particular JLT 3.0 Passenger Side Air Oil Separator with its quick plug connectors. Once it's plugged in, you're good to go. Again, a couple of minutes to get it done, definitely giving this one a one of the three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Well guys, just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a 2007 or a 2014 Shelby GT 500, and you're looking for a part to pick up to help prevent oil from sludging up and robbing you of your performance while also reducing any blow by, a moment to check out the JLT 3.0 Passenger Side Air Oil Separator and your choice of either black or anodized finishes, all available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Reduces Engine Sludge. Prevent the formation of power robbing engine sludge by installing a JLT Version 3.0 Air/Oil Separator on your supercharged Shelby GT500. Blow-by, crankcase exhaust gases, is an oily vapor that re-circulates back through your PCV system and over time will coat the inside walls of your intake manifold and supercharger. Gradually this oily residue will thicken and congeal into a sticky mess better known as engine sludge. However, you can stop the formation of this nasty sludge by installing a JLT Version 3.0 Air/Oil Separator to trap blow-by before it re-enters your engines intake. An Air/Oil Separator, sometimes known as a catch can, is a must have for any Shelby GT500 owner.

Version 3.0. JLT improved on the designed of their old Oil Separator with the introduction of their new and improved Version 3.0. The first big change you will notice is that the Version 3.0 Separator has a larger 3 oz capacity, that is almost double that of their previous model. Another important difference is the filter media. Older JLT Separators used a Ford Motorcraft pre-filter, but now JLT uses a 1/2" thick 1/16th" aluminum honeycomb filter with a mesh stainless steel screen to trap even more fine oil vapors than before to prevent them from gumming up your engine.

Superior Quality. This JLT Performance Air/Oil Separator is proudly manufactured right here in the USA. JLT CNC-machines their Air/Oil Separator from a solid block of billet aluminum for superior strength. Designed with a rubber o-ring, this Separator will maintain a tight leak-free seal. The base features a knurled texture, so that it can easily be gripped for removal during routine oil changes. JLT then completes their Catch Can in a durable clear anodized satin finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy Installation. JLT Performance engineered their Separator to be installed in under 10 minutes with just basic hand tools. This kit comes complete and includes two PCV lines with stock-style quick-disconnect fittings that allow for an easy plug-and-play installation. All the necessary parts are included, with no cutting or extra modifications required.

Application. This JLT Performance Version 3.0 Satin Passenger Side Air/Oil Separator is designed for use on 2007-2014 Shelby GT500 models. Installs on the passenger side, same side as the PCV valve.

Technical Note. This JLT Air/Oil Separator is

not CARB certified, therefore it is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards. It is intended for off-road use only.

How often do you replace the oil separator ?

        • The JLT V3.0 Satin Oil Separator is not meant to be replaced it is there to be drained. How often it would need to be drained would go on a car by car basis. If you have any other questions feel free to call or chat in.

What advantage to install an Oil separator on passenger side versus driver side, or is there a recommendation for both sides?

        • Passenger side is where the most (if not all) blow-by occurs. If you are going to do one oil separator only, do the passenger side. I have JLT's on both sides, and I get little to no oil in the drivers side vs a heap in the passengers. If you want to ensure no misting on the throttle body, then the drivers side is an option, but in oil ratio scavenged on my car it is 99:1 passenger to drivers side. Honestly I got the drivers side to have symmetry in the engine bay :-)

            Waste of money.

Had on car for over 3 months. Not a drop of oil in it. Seems like a lot of fake reviews or a gimmick to me.

This item really works! I checked the can and had about 4 ounces of oil that would have went into the Super Charger. I simply poured the oil back into the engine. It took literally 2 minutes to install.

I was amazed at the amount of oil in the can after just 500 miles of driving! My car doesn't smoke and also doesn't use a lot of oil. There was a 1/4 inch of oil in the bottom of the can!

            Easy install

Took all of 15 seconds to install. I was worried it would bounce up and down easily scratching my valve cover, but the hoses are very stiff and it actually sits suspended about 2cm above the valve covers, plus it has a soft piece of cloth on the bottom. I'm pleased with it and hope it works like it is supposed to down the road.
