Simple installation for anyone.
Hey everyone, Dave from AmericanMuscle, and today I have the K&N cold air intake kit, designed to fit the 99-04 Mustang V6. Now this kit fits both the 3.8 and the 3.9L and from K&N, you’re going to get a high flow reusable filter, surrounded by a heat shield to help keep out engine heat and exhaust heat making the air cooler and more dense to make you more power. After it flows through the filter you’re then going to notice the sleek black plastic tube, that comes with all the accessories and hardware you need for a quick at home installation. This kit is going to flow a ton more air and with the reusable filter actually save you money over time. So what we’re going to do today before we install it, is take our automatic V6 on the dyno, and get some baseline numbers, so when we install this kit, we can see what sort of performance gains we pick up. Our 2000 automatic V6 made 145 horse power and 170 ft/lbs of torque. Now our stock dyno runs are out of the way, we’re going to go ahead and uninstall the factory unit and reinstall the K&N cold air intake kit. It comes with all the supplied hardware you need and should take us about an hour. Now that our K&N cold air intake kit is installed we’re going to load up our 93 octane bama performance tune so when we run it back on the dyno again, we can see what kind of gains we picked up. A custom tune from bama performance adjusts engine parameters to maximize performance, through optimized air/fuel ratio, spark advance, enhanced throttle response ,and for automatics, increased shift firmness and adjustable shift points. Our car produced 155 horse power and 183 ft/lbs of torque with our K&N intake and our bama tune installed, that’s a gain of 10 horse power, and 15 ft/lbs of torque throughout our curve. It took us less than an hour with all the supplied couplers and hardware that K&N supplied to install the new cold air intake kit, the way it mounts under the hood allows you to hear, and see a lot of benefits from installing the kit. When we re-ran it on the dyno after we installed it and we used our bama tune, we produced 10 more horse power and 15 more ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve.

K N cold air induction system
The service representative at American Muscle " Antino" was amazing. He answered all my questions on the upgrade change I'm doing on my 2000 Mustang Show Car. It has to be precise fitting and performance. He suggested this product and model. It's the top of the line available at American Muscle. I'm having it changed next week. So looking forward to this upgrade.Helpful (0)

Without a tune, this plus a larger throttle body makes a noticeable difference at the top of 3rd gear.Helpful (0)

K N Series 57 FIPK Cold Air Intake
I purchased this Cold Air filter and installed it a couple of weeks ago. The Cold Air filter looks great and works fine however it seems that the fit was slightly off where the filter and pipe connect.Helpful (0)

very much happy with result. did have some really high hopes for the sound difference, but probably was over-hyping it because i haven't gotten a tuner. so un-tuned still very very happy and was well worth the money. i gave performance a 3 star because i want to say its giving better performance but idk if i can really tell just yet. it may be too early to say iv been trying not drive "too" aggressive so the cpu can do its thing. as far as looks and the woosh sound lol is very fun to show off when poping the hood. definitely a 5 starHelpful (2)

it will pass the smog?
The K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake will be CARB legal for the 99-03 V6 models.
can this fit on a v8 engine
Unfortunately the K&N Series 57 Cold Air Intake is designed to fit 99-04 V6 models and will not work with a V8 engine.
This will be carb legal for the 99-03 models but would not be carb legal for the 04 models with the 3.9l. This will also come with the CARB EO number yes.
The K&N Series 57 FIPK Cold Air Intake will not fit V8 Cars, as it is specifically designed for the V6. Power gains between this and the BBK Cold Air Intake will be similar, however the K&N will make slightly more power when the engine is hot.
The K&N Series 57 FIPK Cold Air Intake and BBK Cold Air Intake will perform nearly identically, however the K&N will produce slightly more hp when the engine is hot, due to its plastic construction.
We do not carry any hardware for this K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake separately, however, this may be something that you may acquire from K&N directly.
The K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake is indeed compatible with a 73mm MAF housing.
This K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake (MPN 57-2532) is specific to 1999-2004 V6 Mustangs. The K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake (MPN 57-2550) is designed for the 1997-2003 V6 F150's, so the intake that you currently have for your Mustang will not be compatible with the F150's.
The K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake (99-04 3.8L & 3.9L V6) will accommodate the Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (99-01 V6) part number 52215. As long as you have a factory throttle body this spacer will match up with any intake.
The 03-04 heat exchange hood will have functional vents which will allow some water to go through them. I would recommend keeping an eye on the filter during heavy rain.
The K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake (99-04 3.8L & 3.9L V6) will be able to fit on a 65mm throttle body.
