Error on line: 4 Now, that same excellent craftsmanship that you find with every set of Kooks headers has definitely found its way over to this Axle-Back. Quality of materials is all there, including the full 304 grade stainless construction throughout, including the four-inch hand polished tips, which are removable, and the void of any logos for a cleaner look. Now, the removable tips will be nice when you ever want to remove them and clean the tips in the future. And when you do install the Axle-Back for the first time, the removable tips will make things a little easier getting everything lined up in the bumper. In addition, this Axle-Back does feature two and a half inch Mandrel Bent Tubing and Kooks three-inch oval race mufflers, which do keep sound levels down to a reasonable level. Error on line: 6 So with that said, if you're looking for the most sound possible out of your Three-Valve or Shelby, well then you might want to check out the Kooks Catback system for either car, which does utilize a different muffler entirely, giving you a little bit more sound. Either way, if you do want to learn more about this particular exhaust from Kooks, just click the link below to head back to the product page, and while you're there, read up on some customer reviews and check out some customer photos. Since this Axle-Back is a direct factory replacement for the '05 to '10 cars, getting it installed onto your Mustang should be a very straightforward task that should take you about two hours at the very most from start to finish. Error on line: 8 Now, if you should have anymore questions about this Axle-Back from Kooks, or any other product here on this site, well then reach out to one of our Mustang experts by phone or e-mail. Ask a Question

I have a 2010 Mustang gt M/T, i have already had kooks long tube headers and kooks off road x pipe installed on my car. I have kept my factory axle back exhaust on for a couple years but Im looking for a more deeper aggressive sound. I also have the ford racing camshafts installed to make my car sound like the mustangs in the good ol days. With these Kooks exhaust will it be too loud replacing the factory axle back? I dont want a ticket but when i stomp on the gas i want to hear the loudness. When tooling around town i want it to be lower so the cops dont pull me over. Any advise?

  • With sound being subjective, it would be difficult to determine which axle back would be best suitable for your application. Any aftermarket axle back would be louder than your factory axle back. With that said, there are a couple options that would allow you to adjust the sound output. They would be the: BBK Varitune Axle-Back Exhaust, item number 56239 (MPN: 41005) X-Force Varex Axle-Back Exhaust, item number 386427 (MPN: ES-FM10-VMK-ABS). If you would like to keep the sound of your factory axle back you could add the: Pypes Electric Exhaust Cutout Kit, item number 20044 (MPN: HVE10K). http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-varitune-axleback-stainless-0510gt.html http://www.americanmuscle.com/varex-axleback-0510gt.html http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-electric-exhaust-cutout.html

not what you would expect from kooks

I decided to wait a while to review these as they are a straight through muffler and I expected them to get louder, and they did. They are still fairly quiet. I have had the flowmaster axle back, corsas, stock, and deletes. These are slightly louder than stock outside and quieter inside, unless your on it you don't know they are there, and even when I romp on it my cai makes more noise. They don't fit very well out of the box, they push the stock mid pipe up enough to cause it to rattle against the body on bumps. Even after a lot of adjustment they still aren't quite right, not what you expect for the price. A second effect of waiting to review these is I noticed they are rusting heavily at all the weld seems! Again, not what I would expect for the price, or the brand, this never happened with my Corsa pipes, or even the stock mufflers. Overall: very disappointed, I'll be looking to replace these sooner than later.
