      Review & Installation Video

Hey, Stephanie with here with my brief overview of the Magnaflow Catted Tru-X X-Pipe that is available for your 2011-14 GT. Magnaflow really needs no introduction, as they're one of the most trusted names in aftermarket Mustang exhaust, but for those of you new to the game, I'll just let you know that Magnaflow's slogan is the same as their philosophy. They're all about quality, power, and sound, and they're known around the world for producing products that live up to this philosophy. So with that being said, I'll jump right into this catted x-pipe for your S197.So, this is an x-pipe which means that it's going to create a flow pattern for the exhaust gases. It's going to force them to cross and, therefore, even out. The evenness of the flow would create a streamline effect, and it's going to result in a little bit louder, raspier note than an h-pipe would and a little bit more power in the rpm range than the h-pipe. It's also a standard or stock length x-pipe for use with the factory exhaust manifolds or aftermarket shorty headers. For guys with long tubes or you guys out there that are planning on running long tubes, you would need the short x-pipe, of course. Getting down to the finer details, you'll notice that Magnaflow uses 100% stainless steel for the materials along with mandrel-bent 3-inch tubing that maintains a consistent diameter throughout the pipe even at the bends. Now, this is once again important for that flow that we were just talking about earlier, and it's going to have an impact on the torque and horsepower gains that you'll see with this upgrade. We all know of the difficulties and, to be honest, downsides of keeping your 'stang street-legal, so Magnaflow has included these high-flow ceramic cats with the x-pipe. These cats are far less restrictive than the factory cats and they're also lighter, but they will help you pass inspection and emissions. As far as install goes, since we are talking about an x-pipe here, don't expect anything out of the ordinary as far as work goes. In fact, getting this x-pipe bolted up should only take about an hour or two using basic hand tools. So if you're in the market for a new mid-pipe for your S197, then be sure to check out Magnaflow's street-legal Catted Tru-X X-Pipe that is available here at

Improves Exhaust Flow. Magnaflow's X-Pipe uses free-flowing mandrel-bent piping with a Tru-X "X" style crossover and high-flow catalytic converters to improve exhaust flow and to produce significantly more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels than the restrictive stock catted H-pipe.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Magnaflow Tru-X X-pipe for the 2011 to 2014 Mustang's not only increases power, but with its modern "X" crossover pipe design it also adds a crisp raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust.

Magnaflow High Flow Construction. The included high flow ceramic catalytic converters far out perform the restrictive stock cats to provide a significant increase in horsepower and torque.

Application. This Magnaflow Tru-X Catted X-pipe is designed as a direct bolt-on for the 2011-2014 GT Mustangs with either aftermarket shorty headers or the stock manifolds installed.

        Its ok

The collector studs came damaged. Had to run a die down them. Other than that they fit straight in to the car no problem. They are not really any louder than the stock set up which I like.

        clogged cats after 6 months.

Cats didn't hold up to my 530 hp mustang on low boost. Converters clogged up after 6 months. Im like a dog going back and forth with magnaflow and AM about my warranty that I have but I have accepted the fact that neither of them helped me. PS.. Magnaflow automatically assumed from 5 states away that my car was leaking coolant thus causing the clogging.

Magnaflow needs some better quality control

For starters, the cats are atleast good quality, so that’s one (and really the only plus of this xpipe). However the x pipe itself simply doesn’t fit. You will need to modify it so it clears the floorboards, and even then it will still bump the frame under hard acceleration. So if your chasing knock issues and have this xpipe, know that this is more than likely causing it.

        Magnaflow catted X pipe

The product is great, I was having a very poor mileage (223 miles per tank) since I had some error codes (402, 430) related to the O2 sensors and cats efficiency. But once I installed this pipe, codes are gone and now im getting 310 miles per tank. To be honest I didnt noticed a big change on the sound. However it does sounds better than stock. Cons: The fit is not 100 perfect, when I cold start the car, you can hear a rattling noise when it reaches 1000 rpm for around 5-10 seconds. I think the solution is to do some welding.
