Hey, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with my brief overview of the Magnaflow Catted Tru-X X-Pipe that is available for your 2011-14 GT. Magnaflow really needs no introduction, as they're one of the most trusted names in aftermarket Mustang exhaust, but for those of you new to the game, I'll just let you know that Magnaflow's slogan is the same as their philosophy. They're all about quality, power, and sound, and they're known around the world for producing products that live up to this philosophy. So with that being said, I'll jump right into this catted x-pipe for your S197. So, this is an x-pipe which means that it's going to create a flow pattern for the exhaust gases. It's going to force them to cross and, therefore, even out. The evenness of the flow would create a streamline effect, and it's going to result in a little bit louder, raspier note than an h-pipe would and a little bit more power in the rpm range than the h-pipe. It's also a standard or stock length x-pipe for use with the factory exhaust manifolds or aftermarket shorty headers. For guys with long tubes or you guys out there that are planning on running long tubes, you would need the short x-pipe, of course. Getting down to the finer details, you'll notice that Magnaflow uses 100% stainless steel for the materials along with mandrel-bent 3-inch tubing that maintains a consistent diameter throughout the pipe even at the bends. Now, this is once again important for that flow that we were just talking about earlier, and it's going to have an impact on the torque and horsepower gains that you'll see with this upgrade. We all know of the difficulties and, to be honest, downsides of keeping your 'stang street-legal, so Magnaflow has included these high-flow ceramic cats with the x-pipe. These cats are far less restrictive than the factory cats and they're also lighter, but they will help you pass inspection and emissions. As far as install goes, since we are talking about an x-pipe here, don't expect anything out of the ordinary as far as work goes. In fact, getting this x-pipe bolted up should only take about an hour or two using basic hand tools. So if you're in the market for a new mid-pipe for your S197, then be sure to check out Magnaflow's street-legal Catted Tru-X X-Pipe that is available here at AmericanMuscle.com

Improves Exhaust Flow. Magnaflow's X-Pipe uses free-flowing mandrel-bent piping with a Tru-X "X" style crossover and high-flow catalytic converters to improve exhaust flow and to produce significantly more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels than the restrictive stock catted H-pipe.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Magnaflow Tru-X X-pipe for the 2011 to 2014 Mustang's not only increases power, but with its modern "X" crossover pipe design it also adds a crisp raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust.

Magnaflow High Flow Construction. Magnaflow uses 3" mandrel bent stainless steel tubing that has a consistent diameter throughout the length of the pipe, even at the bends to provide excellent exhaust flow that results in more power at the rear wheels. The included high flow ceramic catalytic converters far out perform the restrictive stock cats to provide a significant increase in horsepower and torque.

Application. This Magnaflow Tru-X Catted X-pipe is designed as a direct bolt-on for the 2011-2014 GT Mustangs with either aftermarket shorty headers or the stock manifolds installed.

Does this set off the check engine light? I noticed y'all said no tune required, I plan on getting these and was wondering if it will set the check engine light off. I plan on getting a tune but not till later on down the road.

    • No, because they still have catalytic converters.

Will this require a Tune? Will i need a tune with this xpipe

    • You do not require one, however to get the maximum performance I would recommend a tune.

Supercharger? I'm looking for an X Pipe, i currently have the competition off-road cat-back exhaust. would like to keep it Florida legal but I have plans for a supercharger down the road and was wondering if this would be a waste of money in that case.

    • Florida doesn't have any emissions laws. It is illegal to run without cats, but I have never heard of anyone being fined for it. I have lived in Florida for 20 years. This xpipe will work fine with a supercharger. If, however, you plan on adding long tube headers at some point then this xpipe will not work with the long tubes.

      Pain to Install... Worth it.

I installed this with the help of my brother without a lift. Used a combination of jack stands and ramps. Was a real pain to install since the nuts on the cats were pretty seized up. Had to cut one off, one sheered the bolt on the old cat, one was easy, and the other one can only be reached from the engine bay. Removing the bolts is what actually took the longest. After all the bolts were removed, it took maybe an hour to get everything lined up and tightened down. The end result was pretty phenomenal. I already had Roush Axle-backs on the car but these just woke it up even more. Definite race car sound and very nice increase in power. I got heads turning with the Roush but with this added its a lot more and from farther away.

      catted x pipe great sound

This catted x pipe really woke up the performance of my 2014 gt...The 3 inch x pipe with cats and a resonator delete pipes from LTH takes the sound of my super 44 flowmasters to a different level in sound. My throttle response and low end is fantastic.Put a JLTor CandL cold air and a 85mm throttlebody and your car turns into a beast, add a custom tune from american muscle and your beating corvette stingrays all day..

      More than Expected

This exhaust system does exactly what is advertised by AM. I noticed an improvement in the way my car accelerates. It sounds fantastic and I have had nothing but compliments. It is also not so loud as to be disturbing to neighbors. It sounds really good slowing down although even better accelerating of course. This exhaust system has the perfect blend of rasp and growl with no snaps and back fire whips. The free flow cat weigh less than the factory cats too. Although on the expensive side I have no regrets and am of the belief that this exhaust system will only enhance further mods down the road.

      Must Have!!

Added this mod to my arsenal and I must say it was well worth the price. The exhaust note is straight race car growl, I've had nothing but positive comments and neck breaks when I drive by. So much more beef and flow compared to the stock pipes. Quit putting this purchase off, you won't regret it!

Just what I was listening for...

I have this catted x-pipe mated to a mangaflow competition catback. This combination provides the exact sound I was looking for: deep, snarly, and growly without being raspy.
