    Review & Install Video

Hey, I’m Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our breakdown of Magnaflow’s race series axle-back exhaust for the 2011 and newer V6 Mustang. The race series from Magnaflow is, without a doubt, their most aggressive package in terms of both performance and sound. That’s because this kit completely eliminates your restrictive factory mufflers, utilizing a straight through mandrel bent design for maximum flow and sound. Magnaflow decided to go with a 100% stainless steel construction throughout the entire kit, from that 2 ½ inch mandrel bent piping all the way down to those dual 4 inch polished tips. The install on this kit isn’t that bad; it should only take you about an hour in your driveway using standard hand tools. Now let’s hear how Magnaflow’s race series axle-back sounds compared to your factory exhaust.

Save Money. Want more performance and an aggressive exhaust note, but don't want to buy a whole catback? Let lesser cars know to clear the track or strip with the impressive sound of Magnaflow's Race Series Axle-Back for your 2011-2014 V6. This premium quality axle-back eliminates the restrictive stock mufflers to deliver superior sound and performance without the cost of a whole catback.

Aggressive Muscle Car Sound. The Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back has a straight through muffler delete design for minimal restriction. The design of the Race Axle-Back provides the most aggressive sound you can get with the stock cats still in place while still improving exhaust flow and power.

Quality Construction. Constructed from 100% stainless steel for long life, the Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust System features free-flowing 2.5" stainless tubing and dual 4" polished stainless steel tips. The tubing is mandrel bent to improve exhaust flow and to assure a perfect fit.

Application. Made to be a direct bolt on using factory hardware, this Magnaflow Race Series Race Axle-Back will bolt right up without any extra modifications required on 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs. Installation instructions are included.

Hi, i have a question about the amount of drone this will produce. I drive all the time with the windows down, and the radio on. Will it be too loud that i cannot hear my radio?

    • There will be some drone with this, and depending on the vehicle speed, it will be hard to hear much else with the drone.

Will this fit on a 2010 v6 with a duel exhaust valance?

    • This will not fit the 2010 V6 as they will only have one axle back. You will need to do one of the true dual conversions to be able to run two mufflers with the dual exhaust valance.

Hi! i am thinking of buying this for the first time.... my actual question is, is it east to install ? like i just have to take my stock and replace this? please tell me. thank you.

    • Hey Ali, Yeup! this is pretty straight forward installation. It should bolt in the stock location and probably should take about an hour with some elbow grease!

inspection? will this exhaust pass nj state inspection because it has no mufflers?

    • It should most state inspections are based more if you have a cat, it still has a muffler just no resonators so will be much louder and raspy.

Is there really much of a sound difference between this exhaust and a muffler delete from a shop? the muffler delete uses stainless steel as well

    • Ultimately, the sound will come down to personal preference and we would advise to check out the video clip on the productpage for a feel as to how this will sound.

How come this exhaust sounds so much better than the Magnaflow Competition Series Cat-back exhaust? I know this exhaust basically has no muffler, but I would still think that the cat-back system should sound better than the axel-back, even though the cat-back does have a muffler. 1 answer

      Incredible Upgrade

There is a negligible performance increase, but the sound puts a smile on your face. It has a deep, throaty sound. No drone to my ears.

Magnaflow race series Axel backs what can I say.

The Magnaflow race series Axle-back well what can I say, First when they arrived they were a lot longer then what expected. I was going to bring them to a garage for the install but after I watched a couple videos I went for it myself. I am glad I did. They were super easy ti install. They fit like a glove. One 13mm bolt and a little tug back and forth the stock mufflers came right off. I had to wedge a block of wood on the H pipe to hold it out of the way. The Passenger side was easier then driver side. Roughly about 15 minutes to finish passenger side. Driver side took a little longer. There was more of a struggle to get the stock off. There wasn't much room. The only problem was there was a piece of thin steel spot welded to the muffler holding the clamp. Bent it back and forth till it snapped off. Used the bench grinder to grind off tab till it was flush with the clamp. Magnaflow pipes went in no problem. My rubber hangers were in great condition they stretched easy to fit the hangers. All together the whole install took abiut 45 minutes. Then the test. Started it up and it sounded great. They really are not as loud as I thought they'd be. One things for sure you get mad respect on the through way cars just move outta your way when your screaming down the highway. It souds good. A nice rumble at idle and just driving around the streets. I probably saved about $150/200 bucks. I always worked on my cars and trucks myself but when it comes to certain things Id rather pay a Pro. I learned the mustang is no different then the jobs Ive done on my vehicles in the past.

      Clean

The package came with a couple of minor scratches out of the box which I didn’t mind because i didnt buy it for the looks, I did the installation myself only cost me $7 cous i had to pay for the lift and tools, I asked my local exhaust shop for an install quote it was about $150-$190, sounds amazing the first time I turned the vehicle on,. The sound is deep but clear, the backfire when you down shift is awesome too, glad I went with this totally worth it

      Best Exhaust Ever!

Totally wakes up the V6, install really only took 2 hours but that's because of the mid pipe being aggravating. The stock mufflers will be the hardest to do, just use WD-40 and they will slide right out. Quiet when you want it, SUPER LOUD when WOT! There is a good amount of drone but Im still breaking it in. I persoanlly like the drone and rumble. Best and first thing you need to get for your Mustang.

This this is 100 percent worth it

This exhaust is really pricey and I can see why. It creates a deep loud tone that is really nice. I would definitely recommend it. Its also loud but it wont wake up your neighbors in the morning. The right exhaust pipe is leaning against my bumper but that is probably a installation issue.

      Will turn heads believe me

Got these with the BBK headers, catted x pipe, Magna Flow race series exhaust, 73 mil throttle body, cold air intake, 4:10 gears and the Bama race tune. My 6 has never ran or sounded better. Well worth the money for cost and install.

      ITS PERFECT FOR A V6

These axles backs are great for a v6 mustang. They are really built well and sounds amazing. It has a low rumble to it on around 100-1500 rpms but when you reach 2000 it sounds like a little raspy but given you got a v6 you're not gonna get a v8 sound. And if you're driving on the highway, you might get a little drone but nothing with a little radio cant fix it. The cold starts are amazing and you'll smile everytime you hear it. Install wasnt too bad, just make sure you have some lubricant to spray on the hose hanger rubber to make it come out easy. If you're looking to really spice up your v6 mustang, these are the way to go!

      Absolutely perfect

I was concerned that this would be too loud or showy, as I didn't want to be that guy with the ridiculous exhaust. Turns out these pipes are perfect. After a couple weeks, I've found the note and volume both sound beautiful. Easily the best money I've spent on anything in awhile, they look great, sound great, and really bring the stock sound to life. I wish I'd have gotten this exhaust sooner so I could enjoy it longer!

Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust Review

These race series axle backs are a must for a mustang build, especially if you have a 3.7. They really wake up the car. The sound is twice as loud than the stock mufflers with a nice deep rumble not raspy at all.

This is an awesome axle back! Do not think twice about these. I was contemplating about buy these or the roush axleback but I honestly I believe I made the right choice in purchasing these over the roush.

      Amazing for the 3.7L

These Axle-Backs sound amazing! There is very little drone on a stock system. You will turn a lot of heads with these. They look great and sound so good! Super easy to install too. Took me a couple hours install but only because it was my first mod. If I did again it would be much faster. For a V6 mustang these are what you want. Nice bass on low RPMs and loud and raspy on the high RPMs

      Awesome Sounding beast!!

Such a big difference from my stock exhaust, it has a deeper tone and very aggressive, also after I tuned my car it started to sound a little more cleaner after driving for about a week. I highly recommend this axle back to anyone that's in the market.
