    Review & Install Video

Hey, I’m Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our breakdown of Magnaflow’s race series axle-back exhaust for the 2011 and newer V6 Mustang. The race series from Magnaflow is, without a doubt, their most aggressive package in terms of both performance and sound. That’s because this kit completely eliminates your restrictive factory mufflers, utilizing a straight through mandrel bent design for maximum flow and sound. Magnaflow decided to go with a 100% stainless steel construction throughout the entire kit, from that 2 ½ inch mandrel bent piping all the way down to those dual 4 inch polished tips. The install on this kit isn’t that bad; it should only take you about an hour in your driveway using standard hand tools. Now let’s hear how Magnaflow’s race series axle-back sounds compared to your factory exhaust.

Save Money. Want more performance and an aggressive exhaust note, but don't want to buy a whole catback? Let lesser cars know to clear the track or strip with the impressive sound of Magnaflow's Race Series Axle-Back for your 2011-2014 V6. This premium quality axle-back eliminates the restrictive stock mufflers to deliver superior sound and performance without the cost of a whole catback.

Aggressive Muscle Car Sound. The Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back has a straight through muffler delete design for minimal restriction. The design of the Race Axle-Back provides the most aggressive sound you can get with the stock cats still in place while still improving exhaust flow and power.

Quality Construction. Constructed from 100% stainless steel for long life, the Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust System features free-flowing 2.5" stainless tubing and dual 4" polished stainless steel tips. The tubing is mandrel bent to improve exhaust flow and to assure a perfect fit.

Application. Made to be a direct bolt on using factory hardware, this Magnaflow Race Series Race Axle-Back will bolt right up without any extra modifications required on 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs. Installation instructions are included.

Hi! i am thinking of buying this for the first time.... my actual question is, is it east to install ? like i just have to take my stock and replace this? please tell me. thank you.

    Ali13ConV6

    • Hey Ali, Yeup! this is pretty straight forward installation. It should bolt in the stock location and probably should take about an hour with some elbow grease!

inspection? will this exhaust pass nj state inspection because it has no mufflers?

    robbydiesel

    • It should most state inspections are based more if you have a cat, it still has a muffler just no resonators so will be much louder and raspy.

I was just wondering if this Axel-Back would be street legal in North Carolina?

    WilliamC

    • The Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust will generally be legal in all states along with all other axle-backs. However, you will want to check with your local inspection center for your state's laws.

Will this fit on a 2010 v6 with a duel exhaust valance?

    JonathanG

    • This will not fit the 2010 V6 as they will only have one axle back. You will need to do one of the true dual conversions to be able to run two mufflers with the dual exhaust valance.

Hi there I can't decide on what axle-back I want to get for my 2011 V6. Should I get the Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust or the Roush Axle-Back, looking for something noisy.

    AdamM

    • Between the Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust and the Roush Axle-Back Exhaust, the Magnaflow would be the louder, more aggressive of the two, as it is essentially a muffler delete, whereas the Roush will utilize Open Chamber mufflers.

Hi, i have a question about the amount of drone this will produce. I drive all the time with the windows down, and the radio on. Will it be too loud that i cannot hear my radio?

    JordanK

    • There will be some drone with this, and depending on the vehicle speed, it will be hard to hear much else with the drone.

      Awesome System

I was pretty nervous to purchase my first ever car mod. I ordered and as usual AM shipped it right away and i got it the next day. Had it installed at the local shop, only took about 30 minutes and they sound absolutely awesome ! they aren't obnoxiously loud at idle, but when you open up the throttle these babys scream! I would Definitely reccomend these.

      v6 magnaflow muffler deletes work!

Not a bad sound...little ricey..but as it winds up sounds better.. took car to track before and after install.. 1/8th mile.. gained about .5 second faster then bone stock with only these guys on... took just over an hour to carefully uninstall old exhaust and about 20-30 mins to install these...very easy to install..

Makes my Mustang sound like a Honda

The sound I am getting is not the same as the sound bite from the website. I am going to have to change these out when I find a better product, but this time It will be one I heard in use with my own ears.

While it's tough to determine sound based on computer sound clips, I can assure you the sound clips you see on the site are as accurate as possible. I'm sorry you aren't satisfied with the sound on your Mustang after installation. If you'd like help in getting another axle-back as a replacement for these, please do give us a call and we can help get that taken care of for you.

This is a great exhaust. Very easy to install (once you get the Ford mufflers off..) they look great! And they add a huge sound to your stang! I would definitely recommend these to anyone I have no complaints.

      2013 V6 Too much drone!

These mufflers sound great on idle but anything over 2000 rpms when just driving have a horrible drone. I cant take it anymore and its only been a week. The drone from 65 mph is some of the worst I have seen next to the Pype Bombs. If I could do it all again then i would go with Magna Flow Street to avoid the drone. Install on the other hand was simple, construction feels solid and the tips look great.

      Amazing sound!

Just got the exhaust and it sounds amazing! The videos can't do it justice. You need to know it is loud and when you get into it and the rpm's climb it sounds great. It does drone a bit at different rpm's, but the trade off is a great low rumble that makes the v6 sound very strong.

Great with only one minor flaw

I've had these installed for a few weeks now and I love them. They sound amazing. The start up is mean with a low idle. They are loud when you really get into it, but relatively quiet when you take it easy. They are relatively easy to install. I didn't even have to lift up the car! The only draw back is there is a minor drone when driving at high way speeds. You can kind of cancel it out with the radio, but not completely. I would love to be able to find a way to deaden the drone because every other part of these is great.

      Great Exhuast, amazingly loud!

To start off, I bought my 2012 Premium v6 Mustang about a month ago. Besides appearance mods, this was my first sound / engine mod. The installation was pretty easy, used a flat shop jack to raise the car, best spot for the jack is the differential cover. On the stock exhaust clamps, there's a small metal tab welded from the stock exhaust to the clamp, a flathead screwdriver and a little elbow grease will pop the tab off with no problem. Best way to get stock axel-backs off is to take it off the front hanger first, then slide the exhaust straight back towards the cab. I buddy of mine helped, and we were done within an hour. Now for the sound, man, you can't beat it. Has a mean idle now, and throughout the low rpm's, it'll maintain this grumble. Romp on it, and boy does she open up. Whenever I pass a car and let the throttle wide open, I often get either a dirty look or a look of amazement, just from sheer loudness alone. Mid you want quiet and subtle, this isn't the exhaust for you. Honestly the best axel back for your money, and I haven't heard a single other exhaust that can compare to it. Definitely worth every penny!

      Best Exhaust for V6 Mustang

Magnaflow did an incredible job with their competition series axle-back exhaust for the V6 Mustang. It combines the perfect amount of styling with a great exhaust note that is loud, but refined. If you are a V6 owner this is a must have upgrade.

      I love them!

This exhaust gave my pony a real aggresive sound and it is so much lighter than the stock exhaust so it freed up some weight in the rear end. The only downside to this exhaust is there is more cabin noise than I expected, but it is not unbearable. Overall, I think this was a great mod to my pony.

      Great exhaust for the money

These Mag race series are awesome. When I took them out of the box I was a little afraid to install them. I looked at them and thought I don't know about this. But I installed them thinking if I don't Like them I could put the stock back on. I installed the left side first and started the car just a quick hear and said awesome I'm putting the other on. I live in Huntington Beach CA. I was a little afraid that the cops might have a problem with the sound. So just to be on the safe side I don't race them around them LOL. GREAT EXHAUST FOR THE MONEY

it all depends on preference with these

i bought these exhaust because of the better reviews, I almost got the roush over these but decided ultimately to go with these. if you are looking for that low deep muscle car exhaust tone, you will not get it with these. they do look way better than the stock exhaust. IMO they are better than stock, but the exhaust note is too high for me. doesn't sound quite like a ricer, but its pretty close to being that if I am being completely honest and truthful. these are loud though I will say. if that's all you are going for than these are for you. install was super easy anyone could do it. do I recommend this exhaust? as I said...it depends on your preference, if your just wanting to buy loud exhaust that are somewhat alright, go for it. if you want that deep muscle car sound, do not go for it. you will only continue spending more money like I am trying to get that sound that you want....if I could go back in choose different, I would choose the roush or borla exhaust.

      Very Very Loud

First let me start by saying this exhaust is just what it says LOUD. And I mean that, if you are looking for something that is extremely loud then this is for you. This sounds amazing when it is idle but when you get up to 2000+ rpm it is very ricey sounding. The in cabin noise is another big problem that I have it is as well very loud. I have spent a lot of money with AM and I was very unhappy with the customer service that I got when I called in to see if I could return the exhaust and buy another that was more expensive and they couldn't do anything to help me out. They have been GREAT in the past and I feel they let me down this go around. AM is still one of the best shops to buy from. Looks like I am going to have to try and add some resonator to it.(Very Very simple install 1 hr max)
