Hey, everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my detailed review of the Magnaflow Competition Catback Exhaust System, available for your 2015 and up EcoBoost-powered Mustang. You should be checking out the Competition from Magnaflow if you're after a top quality exhaust system made from 100% stainless steel, and one that's going to add a deep and aggressive tone to your EcoBoost Mustang. Now Magnaflow even goes a step further, and offers prospective buyers the option of grabbing this system in a more traditional polished or silver version, like we have on the table here, or for a few bucks extra, you can grab this system with black mufflers and tips for a totally different look. Magnaflow is without a doubt one of the most popular and well-known names in the industry and for good reason. Their systems consistently offer great sound, quality, and fitment. Now, guys, this is an exhaust after all, so let's talk about the sound you might expect with this thing, and as you heard with our sound clips, the Magnaflow Competition is going to deliver a deep and aggressive tone for your EcoBoost with the included Y-pipe. In fact, it's probably one of my favorites for the EcoBoost-powered S550. Now, even though the Competition muffler is traditionally one of Magnaflow's more aggressive systems, this thing is not going to be over-the-top. It's not going to be raspy. In fact, it's going to be very daily-driver-friendly and be pretty quiet while cruising on the highway. Overall, though, you're still getting some good volume, so I'll call it a solid three, maybe even a four out of five on my one-to-five, or one-to-wake-the-neighbors scale.Breaking down the construction with the Magnaflow, guys, here's what you can expect: durable 409-grade stainless steel throughout, including the 2½" mandrel bent tubing, the included Y-pipe that does utilize the 2¼" factory connect, or will work with any aftermarket downpipe as long as it includes a 2¼" connection. You're also getting the Competition series mufflers here from Magnaflow, and finally, their large 4½" tips, again, in polished or black, your choice. I do want to point out that to my knowledge, guys, Magnaflow's one of the only companies offering a large 4½" tip. Most of the other offerings I've seen are basically 4". I prefer the 4½" tip because I think it looks much better on the S550, just fills out those bumper holes perfectly. Now, as you heard me mention earlier, guys, you do have a couple of options when it comes to picking up the Magnaflow. For instance, we do have the more traditional polished version on the table here. This thing's going to set you back just north of $1,000, or for a couple hundred bucks more, you can grab it in the black powder coating with the mufflers and tips here if that's the look you're after. This system is made in the U.S.A. and, of course, it is backed by Magnaflow's lifetime warranty if you should ever need it.Now, one small nitpick here with the Competition series, guys, is that the materials, for the price you're paying, I would have preferred to see the 304-grade stainless as opposed to the 409 that they used. It really isn't going to affect the performance whatsoever, but it's something I just wanted to point out.The Magnaflow does feature a bolt-on or clamp-on design, so no cutting, no permanent modification needed whatsoever, so for you guys, expect a very easy one-out-of-three wrench job on my overall scale of difficulty. Now, removing that factory exhaust can be a little cumbersome since it is one piece can be a little heavy, so while not needed, an extra set of hands would certainly make your life a whole lot easier. When it does come time to bolt this thing up, though, get some basic hand tools ready. Basically, a socket set, a few wrenches is really all you're looking at here, guys. You're only going to need about an hour or two in the garage or driveway to get this thing bolted up. And, of course, all of your work is done underneath the car, so make sure you have your jack and jack stands ready to go, race ramps or a lift if you're one of the lucky ones. All right, guys, armed with those sound clips and my review, hopefully, you have a better idea of what to expect with the Magnaflow Competition and if it's going to be the right system for you and your EcoBoost. Now, what I can tell you is that the Magnaflow's built extremely well. It's going to offer some nice, well-rounded sound with a good amount of volume. So be sure to learn more about the Magnaflow options for your EcoBoost Mustang, right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
