      Video Review & Installation

If you've upgraded the amperage of your factory alternator or are looking to solve a possible faulty ground issue on your '94 to '14 Mustang, then you might want to consider the SR Performance premium power wire kit shown here. Now, this kit will include roughly 48 inches of four-gauge power wire, along with a fuse block, fused at 200 amps, and ring terminals, all assembled for right around that $70 price point. Now, install, according to the site, is going to get a middle-of-the-road two out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter, and take a couple of hours or less to complete from start to finish, depending on your application. Now, most people watching this video, I will assume, have either already upgraded their alternator to a high performance, high amperage unit or are maybe thinking about making the swap in the near future. Now, if that is the case, then, again, this is going to be a great turnkey option that is ready to be installed right out of the box. Now, the reason why you might want to upgrade your wire in the first place is that running a higher-powered alternator or higher amperage unit on the stock wiring could cause that smaller factory wiring to possibly overheat or even melt, depending on what kind of amperage you plan on running. Now, this kit from SR Performance is going to increase the size of your stock wiring substantially to an insulated four-gauge copper-stranded wire that is roughly 48 inches in length, and thus will allow this kit to work on many different generation Mustangs. Again, it has been fused at 200 amps here, and has been preassembled for you with ring terminals on either end, and a small amount of loom here to clean things up and make for a relatively simple swap. Now, could you assemble something like this on your own for a little less dough? Absolutely, but again, for the owners just looking for a turnkey solution right out of the box, this is certainly going to be a good fit. Now, the basic idea of this kit here is to replace that factory wiring connecting the alternator to your car's battery, and that's pretty much it, guys. There's no real rocket science involved with this installation. You're just connecting one end to the other end, and that's pretty much it.Now, you will need to find a place to mount the fuse box here. Some owners have selected to either screw it into place, use zip-ties, whatever the case. Check out some of our detailed customer-submitted images back on the Product page, if you haven't done so already. It's going to give you a better idea of how different owners tackled their mounting solutions. But wrapping things up here, guys, again, if you have upgraded the amperage of your alternator, it's a great idea to upgrade your power wire connection, such as this option from SR Performance, which, by the way, you can find right here at

Manage More Power. The factory OEM alternator power wire was not designed to carry the larger loads that high AMP replacement alternators produce, that is why it is so important to upgrade your Mustang's power wire when you upgrade the alternator. Installing this SR Performance Premium Power Wire Upgrade Kit will allow you to safely manage the extra electrical capacity of a high AMP alternator.

Premium Wire. SR Performance manufactures their Premium Power Wire Kits from the highest quality #4 gauge wire, with increased number of strands, electrolytic copper and bundle wrapping to reduce the noise in high end sound systems. All this while still being incredibly flexible and sporting a show quality finish.

Application. This SR Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will work with your factory alternator; however, it's designed for use in 1994-2014 Mustangs with higher than stock AMP alternators, including V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, Cobra and BOSS 302 models. This Power Wire Kit is not compatible with Shelby GT500 models.
