    Pure Performance. If you have a supercharger or turbocharger on your 2005-2010 Mustang GT, then you need a high performance clutch to put that power down without destroying your transmission. A SPEC Stage 3 Clutch is rated up to 760 ft-lb of torque, but is specially designed for heavily modified street and race engines to balance the ability to hold lots of torque and deliver quick, precise engagement.

    Race Ready. The SPEC Stage 3 Clutches are designed to be the ultimate strip and street clutch. A Stage 3 is designed to handle all the power you're putting down and to deliver sharp but smooth engagement. Combining elements of a race clutch with a street clutch means a Stage 3 will hold up to many passes on the strip while still allowing you to let your high performance Pony stretch its legs on the street.

    Premium Quality. The sprung hub, 6-puck design of the SPEC Stage 3 features a carbon semi-metallic friction material for unsurpassed bite and quick shifts. The Stage 3 Clutch includes the high clamp pressure plate, the 6 puck friction disc, and an alignment tool.

    This Spec Clutch requires the use of a Spec flywheel for proper engagement. AmericanMuscle highly recommends the Steel Flywheel for this Stage 3 Clutch to avoid warping and optimum results. See the drop down menu option above.

    It's recommended that you add an SR Performance Braided Stainless Steel Hydraulic Clutch Line during your new clutch install. Stock plastic clutch lines can fail during aggressive driving. Stainless steel clutch lines help prevent gear lockout and provide superior clutch pedal feel, even under the toughest conditions.

    Technical Notes:

    • The 2005-2010 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing.
    • Therefore this clutch kit will not include a throwout bearing.
    • It is recommended to install a new SPEC flywheel with this replacement clutch for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Look at our flywheel page page for these 2005-2010 steel and aluminum flywheels.

        Will this clutch work with the Exedy lightweight flywheel?

        • Thank you for your question about the Spec Stage 3 Clutch (05-10 GT). We would highly recommend using the same manufacturer flywheel with the corresponding clutch. Spec Billet Steel Flywheel - 6 Bolt (05-10 GT) would be the recommended flywheel for that clutch.

        Can i use the stock flywheel with this clutch ??

        • This Spec Clutch requires the use of a Spec flywheel for proper engagement. A stock flywheel may work, however, due to differences in manufacturers tolerances, the stock flywheel may not provide sufficient engagement.

        Brake in What is the proper why to fully brake in this clutch?

        • Clutches need to have a 500 mile break in period before driving it hard. Hope this helps!

            Good clutch

            A little bit pricey as far as aftermarket clutches go, but I love this clutch. It took me about 1000 miles to break it in but now it has the perfect feel

            Bites hard almost too hard

            Thing hook, just takes some adjustment if you’re used to a disc not a puck style clutch, works well tho!

            very snappy

            Its a great clutch, but I would like to warn those who plan to daily drive it. This puck style clutch is so snappy that it deserves to be in a car that is force inducted. Traffic will drive you crazy with something like this

            nice and firm

            Clutch works good, I have no chatter at all. engagement is smoothe, it is very streetable cant go wrong. I bought this clutch because I drive pretty hard and wanted somthing that can handle my footing. I did some homework first and found that everyone was having problems with specs throw out bearing, so I went with the exedy throw out bearing and have zero issues. I also bought the recommended spec billit steel flywheel. Tips .Dont rush it .Soak exhaust bolts in liquid wrench for 24 hours before wrenching on them .Get a long 1/2 drive extention that has a rounded head to help swivel then buy a swivel ball socket adapter for the two top bell housing bolts..also use this extension with a deep well 15mm socket to get the bolts off the exhaust

            Good clutch upgrade

            Recently upgraded after burning out the stock clutch. The pedal feel is somewhat smoother than the stock clutch, pedal pressure increases a little but not too much to maintain everyday driveability. Grabs instantly and gives no problems if you wait for the break in period as instructed. I used the stock flywheel and there is about half an inch of play at the top that won't bleed out, but I attribute that to resurfacing instead of replacing the flywheel. 6 puck design makes a great upgrade for high powered cars. Overall a good clutch if you are running a f/I setup

            Stage 3

            Clutch works great. Grabs instantly, takes some getting used to, but well worth it. Only down side is it squeeks against the flywheel upon re-engagment ocasionaly, similar to how brakes squeek.

            SPEC Stage3 clutch

            I just replaced my stock clutch w/spec3 and i have to say,I LOVE THIS CLUTCH!!!.Its a little more than i needed but i love the way it grabs and the immediate engagement.Going f/i so im sure i made the right choice. Thank you AM
