      1 Top Rated Question

Hi I have swapped out my 1949 Mercury 3 speed gearbox for a T85C overdrive gearbox. Now I can't find the right speedo gear to mesh with this gearbox drive. Tooth number doesn't matter as I also have an electronic speedo that I can calibrate. The speedo gears I have tried are 3/4" diameter across the tips of the gears and only just brush the drive gear in the tail housing. So I need a drive gear with a larger diameter - maybe 7/8" across. I also have the Ford adapter that fits down the speedo drive hole in the transmission. Would this gear fit correctly? Regards Mark

      • Unfortunately, we can only guarantee fitment of this gear in an 83-98 Mustang.

          didnt fix problem

it was delivered quickly and install was easy, but it did not fix my spedometer issue, it actually made it go up by 5mph on the guage. i got 3.73 gears and rebuilt the rear but cant seem to get my spedometer guage to reflect the right spped, it will say im doing 90mph when im only doing 70ish. dont get me wrong the part is just fine, and american muscle, you all are amazing and provide great service, i just cant figure out how to fix the issue.
