Review & Install Video

Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our powerpack Bolt-On Build-Up for all 94-98 Mustang GTs. Now before we get started, we're well aware of the fact that the 94-95 GTs came equipped with the 5.0 motor before eventually being replaced by the modular 4-6 in 1996. So, with that said, all the parts used here on our '98 today, will not apply to those earlier years, but the idea remains the same, to increase the power. So that's why we put together a pack of parts that should help our GT breathe a lot easier, in turn making for some more horsepower and torque, all while making for one mean exhaust note. Now, before we get started on our car, we need to grab a quick baseline number, and then hand that over to the crew to get everything installed.

Increase In Performance. Bolting on a Pypes Violator Cat-Back system to a stock 1986-1993 5.0 LX or 1994-1997 GT will yield an instant 5 to 10 horsepower gain. It features two of Pypes Violator mufflers for the ultimate in flow and power gains with an aggressive rude sound.

Aggressive Sound. Pypes CatBack features the Violator "Rude Sound" muffler that uses an internal louvered tube with mini sound deflector chambers that result of a unique aggressive muscle car sound.

Quality Materials. This Pypes Cat-Back Exhaust is constructed from free flowing mandrel bent 2.5" 409 stainless steel tubing and features Pypes Violator chambered mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound. The whole system is finished off with a set of 3" Polished 304 stainless steel tips for classic Muscle Car styling.

Application. The Pypes Violator Cat-Back Exhaust kit is specifically designed to simply bolt-on to the existing stock H-Pipe of any 1986 GT, 1986 to 1993 5.0 LX or 1994 to 1997 GT Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.

fitment I installed the BBK long tube headers and the BBK exhaust pipe onto my 1994 GT. Will this cat back system bolt onto those existing parts with no modifications needing to be done for fitment?

  • Yes they will directly bolt on with no modifications being needed.

What headers What headers did you guys use in that video of blue mustang ?

  • The headers remained stock on the bolt-on build up. Check out the full list of mods here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/94-98-gt-build.html

Does it fit with my 94 v6 mustang? I want to know if the pypes violator catback exhaust will fit with my 94 v6 mustang.

  • Pypes Violator Catback Exhaust will fit your 94 V6 Mustang with a PaceSetter V6 Dual Exhaust Adaptor Kit. This kit is specifically designed to bolt on any 94-98 GT Catback to a 94-98 V6 Mustang. I purchased the adaptor kit with an SLP Loudmouth 2 Catback Exhaust and JBA Cat4ward Shorty Headers, and I must admit the combination of the three is incredible! So yeah, it will fit with the proper aftermarket mid-pipe!

The system looks and sounds great. Nice rumble to it. Not much different from stock sound when idling but it really roars at about 2k rpms. the reason i only gave it a 3 is because the pipes had to be taken to a shop to be bend because they wouldn't fit out of the box.

Muffler shop said that this system needed some adjusting to fit perfectly. The sound is a perfect mix of aggressive but not obnoxious. Overall I\'m very happy with the system and the sound. I would highly recommend this system to anyone, just keep in mind it needs a few minor tweaks during install.

    Not sure.

The catback system seemed to line up ok to the x-pipe but took some finagling to get it to not hit the gas tank. My real issue is with the tips. It was a huge pain in the butt to get the passenger side tight as the bolt that needs to be tightened down ends up really close to the gas tank. Even after getting them as tight as I could get them, there was still a visible gap between the tip and the tail pipe. The hangers for the tips held in place by a set screw which doesn't seem to be very secure to me. I might end up welding both the tips and the hangers in place. Over all it sounds pretty good. Very throaty compared to the Magnaflows that I had on previously. I wish it was a little deeper pitch but I think I'll get used to it over time.

The exhaust came within a couple of days. It took the shop about an hour to install. Everything fit perfectly, no modifications needed. The sound is excellent, not to loud at idle, but when you open it up it just sings to you. Excellent buy.

    Not your average exhaust note

I was doing some research didn't want to go with the loudmouth or pypes bomb exhaust so I decided to go with this catback and I am really happy with it. It isn't crazy loud but above 2200 rmp it really sounds great. I have 315s in the rear and the tail pipes are just barely touching the inside of the tire. I have to take it to a shop to get the pipes bent. Other than that it's a great product

    Nice sound

Good product and great sound. It sounds better than the Flowmaster system, no harsh ressonance when down shifting. The time to install is deceptive, as the shop I took it to was busy (probably should have just done it myself). All in all great fit and good looking too.
