- How to Install Airaid Modular Intake Tube (15-17 EcoBoost) on your Ford Mustang
Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Great Looking Upgrade
This modular intake tube is extremely easy to install and looks good in the engine bay. The factory air box is considered better than any CAI by almost every major Mustang Tuner. This tube is and a good drop in filter is about the best upgrade you can do to the intake. On its own without a tune, this will not add any power but it does seem to smooth out acceleration and engine braking. It also slightly increases the engine noise due to not having the baffles that the factory tube does. I am definitely happy with my purchase.Helpful (0)

Awesome in cold weather
Plugged this in as my first real mod on my 18 Ecoboost, and it performs great with an high flow air filter in the stock box. Performance seems pretty much the same unless it’s below 50. Sounds great making it a good intro mod.Helpful (0)

The fit and finish is really good. Extremely quick and easy install as long as you're prepped prior to. Noticable size difference from the stock tube along with a noticeable sound difference. Helps greatly with a drop in filter with the throttle response. Quick delivery too!Helpful (0)

Ecoboost Modular Tube
Nice Product. Fitment is on point. Looks nicer than the stock one, a little bigger too. It appears that the turbo spools a little quicker. Didn’t change sound, but still using Factory filter.Helpful (0)

Nice low buck upgrade
I did extensive research before buying. Great product. Throttle response increased and a little bit more intake noise. I have an AEM drop in panel filter and a Cobb stage 1 OTS tune.Helpful (3)
Can this be used with the C L bypass valve adapter?
This would be compatible with the C&L Bypass Valve Adapter.
I have the Ford Performance CAI kit on my 16 EcoBoost. Will this tube work on this setup?
This Modular Intake Tube reuses the factory air box and filter element meaning this will not work with your cold air intakes filter.
I already have the UPR dual valve catch can on my car (with the fitting integrated into the fitting at the turbo), stock intake tube. Will the UPR coupler fit onto the airaid tube, or will I have to buy a larger coupler from UPR?
If you are currently using the UPR dual valve catch can with the stock intake tube then yes you would need to contact UPR and see if they offer a larger diameter coupler.
I installed this product and I liked it quite a bit, but at higher boost levels, about 10 psi when reading off the digital boost gauge, when releasing the gas under heavy driving it makes a high pitch noise. I assume this is the excess boost from the bypass valve being filtered back into the intake? I'm also using a K N filter if it matters. It's a pretty high pitch noise it got to the point where I swapped the factory intake tube back on because it was annoying. It almost sounds like an HKS BOV, sort of, similar in the high pitch noise it makes, but I do not like it. Besides that I really liked the intake tube. I know the factory tube has some baffles and stuff to cancel some noises, maybe this is one of them. Anyone have a similar experience or any info about it? I haven't seen anyone else talk about having this experience.
If you are having issues with you Airaid Modular Intake Tube we recommend double checking that it is installed properly, if you are still experiencing these issues you can consult with a shop or give us a call.
Is this legal in California, I see the whole system is CARB approved
