Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’ll be taking a detailed look into this budget minded BBK cold air intake system for all 96-04 Mustang GTs. BBK has always played a big role in producing quality aftermarket Mustang parts ever since making some of the first EFI products for the early Fox body Mustangs back in the 80s. This kit is going to help give your ride more horse power and torque, and also add a nice throaty growl in the process by replacing that stock restrictive factory air box with everything you see here. The kit includes both Chrome intake tubes, your new heat shield, reusable high flow filter and all your necessary hardware. Now besides that quality construction that bright chrome finish is sure to make a nice improvement under any hood. This kit does not require a tune so it’s a great option for someone who might just be starting to mod their car and aren’t quite ready for a tune just yet. However if your after big power like we are today then you will definitely want to pair this intake up with a custom tune. But in order to see how much power this intake is going to make we need to get a baseline number down first from our 2000 GT back there. Our automatic 2000 GT Mustang just put down 222 horse power and 260 ft/lbs of torque in stock form. Now we’re going to install our BBK cold air intake system, which should only take us about an hour using standard hand tools. You will notice that this intake is equipped with a hole for your intake air temperature sensor, shown right here. Now if your car isn’t equipped with one of these sensors don’t worry, just go to your local part store, pick up a rubber plug for a few bucks and plug the hole, problem solved. So even though you don’t need to run a tune with this intake we’re looking for maximum gains here today, so with that being said we’re going to pair it up with our custom 93 octane Bama tune to optimize your spark timing, perfect those air fuel ratios and give you drastically improved throttle response. Alright now that we’ve got our BBK installed and our tune uploaded lets run our GT one more time on the DynoJet and see how we did. Our BBK equipped GT made a total of 245 horsepower and 288 ft/lbs of torque making for a peak gain of 23 horsepower over our baseline numbers and a very impressive gain of 31 horsepower and 47 ft/lb of torque throughout the curve. This intake from BBK is an all-around performer, not only did we make some serious power but the chrome finish really improved our under the hood appearance as well and it didn’t cost us an arm and a leg in the process. So if you’re looking for a quality intake from a company that loves Mustangs just as much as we do, then you will really enjoy this cold air from BBK.
