Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm breaking down BBK Tuned Length Shorty Headers available in your choice of either ceramic or chrome, fitting all 2011 and up Mustang GTs. So why would you want to use a set of shorty headers, versus a set of long tubes? Well basically, a shorty setup is going to be less expensive, and much easier to install versus a set of long tubes. This is due to the fact that shortys for the most part are a direct bolt-on, meaning you won't have to modify your Mid Pipe, like you would using a set of long tubes. Now, will shortys perform just as good or better than a set of long tubes? Probably not, but it's still going to be a solid upgrade over your restrictive factory manifolds. These headers feature what BBK refers to as their tune-length runner design, which makes them a hybrid between a standard shorty header, and a set of long tubes. Now in the end, BBK claims more horsepower than a standard shorty header, all while maintaining the ability to be a direct bolt-on, no-modification-needed install. Taking a closer look at the headers, you can see they both feature 1-and-3/4" Mandrel-bent tubing, and laser cut flanges for an OEM quality fit. Now as I mentioned earlier, you do have the options of picking these headers up in your choice of either a ceramic, or chrome finish. So, what are the differences between the two finishes? Well, as you can see for one, looks. The chrome option is a little brighter initially, but that's going to change as these headers heat cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark copper color. On the other hand, you have the ceramic coated option, which will remain that bright silver throughout their lifespan. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to act as a great insulator helping keep under-hood temperatures down to a minimum, which is always great for performance. Now those added benefits do come at a cost, as ceramic coatings are typically more expensive than stainless or chrome options. Now as I mentioned earlier, installing a set of shorty headers is a lot easier than a set of long tubes, but even still, I would leave yourself a full day just to tackle the install, just in case anything goes wrong. Either way, you can always contact your local shop if you get stuck, they should be able to help you out. Install is not easy. Product did match well to factory catalytic converters. Even with brand new gaskets it leaked. Had to make a spacer to cover the gap as well as move some wires and other things around so they didnt rest on or sit too close to runners. Looks good, sounds ok. No major difference in performance. Volume did get better (got quieter) no rasp.Helpful (5)

Bbk shorty headers
Good luck need professional install 2013 gt premium convertible 2 gaskets on passenger side changing out bolts not a straight install took shop 3 days disappointment with bbk because of fit not much change in torque or power at low end some above 3000 recommend long tubes of you are going to do thisHelpful (5)

HOLY never doing that again....
Well I have to be honest... It defiantly took longer than the 8-12 hours here in my garage for the install. But... I am very pleased with the after product..... For the cold start it is slightly louder with my Roush Axle Back's. But after is kicks down from the high idle it is almost like nothing. Well until you step on it to take off... then it is a whole different ball game. The tone is MUCH deeper and quite a bit louder until you back off the pedal. Very happy with the purchase..... I can defiantly feel a difference in power when you are in 4th gear and doing 70 around 4500 RPM and step on it, not much but defiantly more behind the pedal...Helpful (5)

Great addition always BBK
Feel the difference in the take offs no more restriction over 3k rpms. Good with tune, cold air intake, x_pipe,cat deletes,axle back. Great sound no more raspy. Too me a whole weekend. Long weekend to install. Better to remove motor mount bushing as well, next time. Did it jack stand and jack with small ramps. Hard with bolts fitting. Remove all the had hard time with tighten them. But it was ok.serve me right. Great experience now I can do better next time.. reused one header gasket and one new.Helpful (6)

I also go the 3 inch cat delete and h pipe. Just for the simple fact that if u try to get off the bolts for the cats ur gonna have a bad time lol. So i just cut the cat pipe and then took the headersout. HUGE PAIN IN THE BUTT. driver side is a breeze but the passenger side is absolutely terrible. They sound good but if u can swing the extra money get somebody else to install for you. The passenger side would not go in even with the engine lifted all the way up. Took us hours to finagel with it and busted knuckles to put it in.Helpful (7)

Great product, really frees up air flow. I would definitely recommend a shop install unless you have a lift, the right tools and a mechanically inclined partner to help. This one can be a tough install otherwise.Helpful (6)

will this and a catless x pipe make the same HP as long tubes? or at least close enough?
Generally speaking, a longtube header setup will provide more power when compared to the combination of shorty headers and a catless midpipe.
Can I bolt these headers up to the stock catalytic converters?
These headers will bolt straight up in the stock location to the factory mid-pipe without any modifications on 2011-2014 GT Mustangs.
There's a claimed RWHP difference, but no specific number. If someone just had a stock GT, and were to add these, how much would be reasonable to expect? 2-3? 10-15? 20-30? Even a rough range would be appreciated, along with where those gains might be. Top end, mid range, throughout?
With a good tune you're looking at about 15 or so, give or take. It depends on the application entirely of course, so the more or less modifications you have, and whatever tunes you are using, could swing that number a bit one way or the other.
I recently bought a MAC Pro Chamber Mid-Pipe for Off-Road Cat Delete Pipes with the MAC 45012 Off-Road downtubes; wondering if this would fit right up?
Yes, these would directly replace your factory headers and would work with an aftermarket midpipe.
I've purchased Pypes X pipe item 20119 and have just found out that I cant do Long tube headers without buying a new X. Instead, Would these shortys along with pypes test pipe item 102021 bolt up to my x pipe (20119) and if so, would the gains (with tuner) / sound be similar to long tubes headers?
Yes, these headers with the Pypes cat delete pipes will have a similar sound tolong tube headers and will bolt up to the x-pipe you currently have.
Yes, these headers are compatible with the Bassani cat-back and x-pipe combo kit.
The shorty headers will provide a slight increase in the overall sound of your exhaust. With that being said, they are designed for the factory mid-pipe or a BBK mid-pipe. Being you have a custom x-pipe, fitment cannot be guaranteed.
You would be able to use these headers with the Pypes off road X-pipe yes.
A tune is recommended for optimum performance of any header assemble whether it is stock length or long tube however, since these are of stock length you will not require a new tune.

The Borla ATAK Axle-back doesn't actually bolt up directly to the mid-pipe so the BBK Shorty Headers and X-pipe will bolt up with no problems at all! Enjoy!
