Throaty Exhaust Note. Your S197 Mustang has the right look so you should give it the right sound to match. The Borla S-Type Split Rear Cat-Back Exhaust System is a great choice for achieving that distinctive, aggressive, powerful sound. What's more, this system also provides an increase in exhaust velocity so you see improved horsepower, better MPGs and enhanced overall performance. Enjoy drone free cruising in your Coyote Mustang for many years to come utilizing this Borla S-Type System.

Street or Off-Road Use. The X-Pipe included in this Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust will bolt up directly behind the stock catalytic converters, making your 2013-2014 5.0L Mustang 100% smog-legal. It can alternately be installed with Borla's XR-1 Long Tube Headers if you choose to delete the stock cats, providing even more power for the perfect off-road combination.

Innovative Construction. Constructed from smooth 2.75" mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing, the Borla S-Type System includes an X-pipe and features two straight-through Stinger Mufflers with rolled 4.5" black chrome angle cut tips. The patented straight-through baffled design provides maximum flow, power and best of all, no dreaded drone. Crafted to resist the corrosion that likely ruined your last muffler system, you'll also be able to appreciate the Borla Logo that has been carefully embossed on each tip.

Application. This Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust System with X-pipe and Black Tips has a versatile design that allows for use on 2013-2014 GT and BOSS 302 Mustangs equipped with either the stock manifolds or aftermarket shorty headers installed. It can also be installed on 2013-2014 GT and BOSS 302 Mustangs with a set of Borla's XR-1 Long Tube Headers by deleting the catalytic converters.

Installation Note. When installing this X-pipe and Cat-Back Kit on a BOSS 302 Mustang, you will lose the functionality of the factory Side Exhaust Pipes.

Technical Notes. By removing the catalytic converters, this exhaust is no longer legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles and will be intended for off road use only.

Will this exhaust Borla Stinger fit my 2012 Boss 302? Also is this exhaust too loud? I have taken the baffles off of my original exhaust system and I don't want the car any louder than it currently is.

  • Hi, This Borla catback will not fit on a 12 Boss, We do carry the Borla Stinger S-Type Item 29025 for the 12 Boss 302 when installing this X-Pipe/Cat-Back kit on a BOSS 302 Mustang, you'll loose the functionality of the factory Side Exhaust pipes, On a scale of 1-10 i'd say this is a 7.

Will this set also work with the 2011-2012 Mustang GTs? Is this a direct bolt-on? No welding/extra piping or parts required?

MrCockroach

  • The Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust - Black Tips (13-14 GT, BOSS) will not work on 2011-2012 Mustang GT's as the kit is specific to the 2013-2014 GT's and Boss Mustangs. We do offer a similar kit that will work with the 2011-2012 GT Mustangs found here: Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust - Black Tips (11-12 GT) item #389997 (www.americanmuscle.com/borla-stinger-catback-black-1112gt.html).

What types of headers will match up to this exhaust system? I would prefer catted headers, with built in X-pipes. Sold on Borla stingers. I have an 2013 Mustang GT. Thanks for your help.

Ipman

  • If you are looking for a set of long tube headers that are going to bolt up directly to this cat-back system, the set of headers you will want to buy is the Borla XR-1 Long Tube Headers Item #29022 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/borla-lt-headers-1113gt.html)

This doesn't seem much of an upgrade for being a 2.75" exhaust. Does anyone know if this system is the same size as the stock exhaust on a 13 GT?

Benson5oh

  • The stock size is 2-3/4 on the cat-back and the mid-pipe does get slightly smaller to a 2-1/4 and the resonators are approximately 2-1/8 in diameter. While the Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust is the same size at the cat-back, and slightly larger in the mid-pipe area, the stock muffler and resonators are very restrictive. By slightly increasing the diameter and removing the restrictions, you will make some slight power, however the real key is that this exhaust will allow your Mustang to make more power without choking the system.

    Awesome

This is my 3rd setup, first was flowmaster outlaws which was nice but loud all the time. 2nd setup was roush, which I enjoyed. I was looking for a certain sound and after many hours on you tube with headphones, this is it. Install wasn't too bad, took about 4 hours, would of been quicker if auto part stores would have had v clamps in stock. I used a saw saw to cut my over axel pipe 2 inches and used a piece of old pipe to form a sleeve so exhaust wouldn't stick out so far. My car is lowered 2 inches, no issues with clearance until I go down ramp at work then sleeve rubs but will fix that. Sounds awesome w x pipe but may change to h pipe later on for more of a growl sound. Exhaust is fairly mild at cruising speed but once you hit gas and rpm gets around 3-3500 it screams. When people ask what I have, hard to explain..Has that performance sound like you would hear on something exotic. Definitely recommend.

Great sounding Exhaust, overall great fit with some sweat and muscle

2014 GT, Couldn't be happier with the exhaust. No cabin drone, reasonable volume when cruising with windows shut. WOT this exhaust sings. Had to shave the ends of the intermediate pipes a bit for a tight fit, overall easy install - Just pay careful attention to the vapor line - not a lot of clearance. Had an issue with one of the mufflers, AM was very accommodating

    Review from Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust (13-14 GT; 2013 BOSS 302)

Best sounding exhaust on the market.

I have had the exhaust for a few days and absolutely love it. I find myself stomping on the gas more often just to hear the mean growl this exhaust has added to my car. This is an over axle exhaust so don't attempt to install unless you have a lift. I tried installation on ramps and couldn't get the mid pipe out so I had to put it back together and find a lift. This exhaust is well worth the money.

    Review from Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust (13-14 GT; 2013 BOSS 302)

    Borla Stingers!!!

The best exhaust out there period. It's loud it's aggressive and its unique! Literally it turns heads everywhere I go! I can't help to get on the gas everytime Im behind the wheel it just feels and sounds amazing. Install was super easy besides having to make some adjustments to the pipe nipples that go inside the x-pipe I cut 1" inch on each tube and it gave me perfect room clear the pipes from everything it was rubbing up against. I would recommend this product to anyone is worth every penny in my opinion!

    Great Exhaust System

If you are looking for a great sounding exhaust system, look no further than Borla's S-Type Cat-back system. No other system can compare to the high quality of this system. Excellent fit and finish and installation was fairly straightforward. The sound is absolutely amazing. Relatively subtle while cruising but sounds like you are on the track when you get on it!

    Review from Borla Stinger S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust (13-14 GT; 2013 BOSS 302)

Right roar at all rpm's and the rumble on downshift ...perfect.

Product arrived in 2 separate packages. Xpipe in one and axle back plus axle over pipes and a hat :). I listened to hours of videos as many of you have it is a waste of time. I put the borla S-Types on and my friend was running outlaws on his 06GT. The 50makes a better sound already but with the Borlas, its just amazing. I get compliments all the time from young and old about this car. The tips do not rust and there is no drone what's so ever with this setup. I drive on highways at highspeeds and within speed limit always in either 5th or 6th. No drone. O. The streets its loud on cold start but can be quiet to get around neighborhoods. Performance wise I noticed that the car wants to let the wheels loose a lot more than it used to. ALOT more. It will eisily spin through first and second and I'm sure Im in for wider tires.

    Best of both worlds

Very impressed with the build quality and sound. This catback really barks when you get on the throttle yet is tame when cruising through town or at highway speeds. If you're looking for a relatively aggressive sounding exhaust with no drone, this is the one to get.

    awsome exhaust for my 5.0

my uncle and I installed this in about 3 hours . I highly recommend this on a rack. Install was easy, hardest part is getting the front band clamps off. ford puts the top of the bolt toward the top of the car. We could not get the socket on it. the bottom of the bolt has a hex fitting but even soaked with chemicals no go. we just cut it off clean and a quick weld later we were in business. this exhaust was worth every penny. sounds awesome!! this is not for someone looking for a "just above stock" sound, this is an attention getter. very pleased. also installed same day steeda CAI with bama 91 octane tune. great response on the pedal.
